You should send it over to me, So I may keep it ;D
i miss my old cat :'(
can we get a photo of your new cat up in here
-snip-
Let it outside.
Let it do it's own thing.
Feed it when it's hungry obviously.
Young Cats get fleas and worms more often than older cats so get medicines for it when required.
It takes a long time to build up respect from your cat but when you do gain that respect, it's all worth it. Don't expect a cat to be like a dog and all over you all of the time.
Neuter it too.
And don't mess around with it's claws, it needs them, even if you don't like them. Cat's are not stupid and will find ways of maintaining their claws at a comfortable level themselves. Such as scratching trees. Anybody saying a human needs to look after a cats claws is wrong.

Cow milk is Cow milk, Humam milk comes from boobies.
well... maybe the thing YOU got human milk from as a baby looked like a cow....
:iceburn:
People only this cats are assholes because they don't take kindly to strangers. If you visit someone with a cat it will most likely avoid you, but if you get to know the cat or own one from a kitten, they are very loving and loyal.
Take a picture of him every fucking week so when he dies you don't hate yourself for not having enough pictures of him.
you lay out a bowl of food, that's all there is to it
Cats are lactose intolerant, so if you are going to give it milk, try not to make a habit of giving it anything like cow's milk too often. Pet shops often sell milk formulated especially for cats. And I can assure you it doesn't taste that bad.
Don't ask me how I know that.
and what's with the litterbox? let the thing run free outside

Hmm not always, I've had cats take to me pretty quickly as long as they are not too shy.
dont close your door at night or two things may happen; a, the cat will get stuck in your room and piss in your shoes / matress (you do not want this to happen) or b, the cat will scratch at your door meow like a motherfucker and you won't sleep
it's easier to let him in and let him sit on your face (they do that, they will also pat your face with their paws in the morning)
In my trials of having cats, I've realized that just give it like...SHIT TONS of love and it'll grow up happy. That and it will look to you like his owner.
I'd take the time just to pet him. So when he started spraying, all I had to do was tap him on the nose and yell at him. Hasn't done it since.
Love and adoration really makes a difference. If you take the time to pay attention to the kitty, and pet him every chance you get, he'll grow up to love you the exact same way. There will be days where I'll wake up to him sleeping either next to me or he'll crawl onto the bed or chair or whatever just to sleep. Cutest thing alive.
No other problems exist with him, except he meows a lot.

I don't like letting my cats out at night after we're all asleep :ohdear:
I think u should give this cat a lot of attention at that age maybe some toys. Also give the cat food maybe two to three times a day because u don't want the cat to get fat.Just be careful of the small dark spaces because the cat might get stuck. If u decide to keep the cat you will need to neuter it because it will spray this oder everywhere which is nasty. other than that a cat is a great pet that will love you for the rest of its life.
If you don't want to want to worry about fleas, ticks, and worms on your cat make it an indoor cat they also live longer as an indoor cat

Huh, I always thought that voice was Nicholas Cage in some movie I didn't see. The one with the bees I think.
Well damn.
Cats tend to be pretty ingenious. Mine can open every door in our house, for example. And loves to stand on my keyboard while it is in use.
Also a tip on toys. My cat had a mouse toy that had something sprayed on it that made the cats crazy about.
I think it was some natural smell of a mouse. But he went batshit crazy when I gave it to him.
It's called catnip.
A completely selfish thing done to the pet because you're too lazy to do things to prevent it isn't comparable to getting them neutered or spayed to prevent them from having tons of kittens. There's a reason that everyone tells you to spay and neuter, and everyone says to not declaw your cats. If you continue on you're obviously trolling. http://declaw.lisaviolet.com/declawpics.html doesn't that look wonderful? :)
How is it selfish or lazy? Many immunocompromised individuals get their cats declawed cause a simple scratch can kill them. We had it done cause the dog's face was getting mauled to pieces.
And who is this 'everyone' you speak of that claims it is wrong to declaw your cat? A group of cat sympathizers that do nothing but talk to cats all day?
These people shouldn't have cats. If you can't treat it well you need to stop having a pet.
[editline]11:47PM[/editline]
Seriously your example is like someone who's allergic to cats, getting a cat. Then shaving it bald to not have reactions to it.
Make sure you take good care of it obviously. Feed it normally. If it feels like it's been in a bad mood lately, ie pissing/spraying on couches and whatnot, love on it. Spend more time with it. Try to brush it normally aswell. About twice a week, if you can. Isn't much more different than a dog. Good luck though.
If you want it to take care of itself, give it £5 to get food and water.
Had the same thing happening to me. Go to the vet and let it have worm pills. dont let it sleep in your bed because you might roll over and crush it. let it stay in your house for a few days and then let it go out but not too far or else it might get lost(if it doesnt recognise the smell of your house yet) or fall and hurt itself. Dont give itmilk because that will make it have diarea over everything at random moments(you can buy special cat-milk though). dont let it roam around the house when youre not there unill its potty trained (you can guess why)and it might get stuck(my kitten got stuck behind the fridge).
let it be with you all of the time because it will make it like you( if youre on th computer just put it on your desk.
Thats it I hope it helps.

Stupid examples. My alternatives work out better for the cat and the people, but people are too lazy to regularly clip or shave their claws, or apply Soft Paws. The immunocompromised people gain no benefits from declawing either, a bite is just as, or more, harmful.
The everyone I speak of is the growing number of places it is being outlawed at, including San Francisco.
Don't let you cat jump up onto your desk because cats seem to like sitting on keyboards and shutting down programs
There's protection for that.

You should love it forever until it dies and give it food and water and pet it all the time.

This. Our cat will run away when someone new comes to our house. But if she knows you she will come up to you and lay on your lap and be a total attention whore. And she also does this thing where she comes up to you when your sitting and puts her arms around your neck and rub her face on your face (sort of like hug if you didn't have elbows).
No, do not declaw it, you are sick. They literally cut the cats fingers off, to the first knuckle.
agree agree agree.
Also can be compared to removing the bones from your toes, because that's practically what the claws are.

My cat recently chewed the plugs off of two headsets.
But she's so cute I just pet her when I found out
