Never let your cat outside. I let her/him out and he/she never returned. :( But now I frekin got 2 new cats. :)
If it doesn't come back off of its own accord it ain't your cat.
I had a cat got 21 years old (Must be really old) She a outside cat. Really smart. Rarely got in to a fight. Never disappeared. Never got hit by a car (or even got close) Always made sure it was inside before we went to bed so we could let her in. Also Could open doors her self by jumping on the handle from a close-by chair or table Also funny thing. Our cat liked to jump down from the roof (3 Floors) And a lot of the time scare the fuck out of people walking by.
21 years old? Blimey.
Defending my view doesn't make me a troll, I feel certain that declawing is a cruel thing to do to a cat, and it doesn't make me a hypocrite. There's reasons that neutering a pet isn't illegal anywhere in the world and declawing is. Just because you're lazy and that makes you think that it's necessary doesn't make it any less cruel and painful. Those were hardly shock images, too. If you were shocked by it, it's because you have no idea how the procedure works, which means you shouldn't be defending declaw-ers. [editline]10:34AM[/editline] And why do you have to leave work to come home to trim your pets nails? You couldn't just do it when you're at home? That's a pretty stupid way to think. You hardly have to do it every day, too. If you're at work long enough to have to drive home to take care of your pets, you probably shouldn't have any.
It was an example...
Did you left it inside for a month or 2-3 befor you let it out ?
My first cat? No, we let it outside when it was very young and after that it wanted always out...
My cat's been missing for a week and three days now. :< normally is at our doors in the mornings and the evenings.
Rename it to captain majestic.
My cat has been away in the forest for 3 months now, i guess its dead. :ohdear: Treat it like your best friend, always give it food/water, don't leave it empty.
My first cat? No, we let it outside when it was very young and after that it wanted always out...
so nowadays you shove your cats inside and lock the door just because your first one didn't want to live with you.

:3 cats! Don't take it for a walk with a harness and leash, is all i have to say. :(
why not
Don't let him outside for some time. This lets him get used to his current surroundings and, if he somehow gets lost, will be able to find his way back. Or something like that.
I'm getting a cat soon, useful thread. So I need to get it sprayed, neutered and keep it in the house for 3 months to acclimatise? It's a kitten at the mo, 3 months old and it belonged to my friend who lives up the road, with it's 4 siblings. It'll probably end up going back to them.

What you should know is that cats taste very good and after you are done skinning the top fur layer of your cat you must let it boil for about 2-2 1/2 hours. Serve with fresh herbs.
If you don't want it ripping everything up in sight, I'd suggest declawing. inb4 BUT DECLAWING IS INHUMANE AND NEUTERING IS TOTALLY FINE.
I'd rather it kept the claws, there's not much to rip up in the house and, were I in it's position, I wouldn't want my claws removed.
Don't let it sleep on the tv. Even if it looks like the cutest thing ever.

Try not to stuff it with cocaine. This is all you need to know.

If it's an outdoor cat if it will probably tear shit apart outside, eliminating the need for one [editline]05:55PM[/editline]
Don't let it sleep on the tv. Give it love.
Realize that kittens like to stay up all night and mess with your shit, so expect to be woken up quite a few times. Clean the litter box at least once a day, because if your cat is really high maintenance like mine they will shit on the floor if they don't like the litter box conditions.
Goddamn, my kitten (Bertie) just arrived: And refuses to sleep in the special bed I made, it's an old break basket with a quilt thrown over it, instead he's nestling on my pillow and meows when I move him off, and cat poo bloody stinks.
