Well, not so much a ban but a limitation, afterall, humanity was almost wiped out when it technologically leaped and created the Men of Iron.
It's a mix of not being able to make new things and not wanting/needing to.
If you read Mechanicus, innovation and improvement is generally punishable by death.

And accurate representation of the Imperium's view on innovation and advance.
If humanity don't stop that religious bullshit and star researching new technology, sure, they're doomed

Improvement is okay, but its greatly restricted.

Not researching new technology and religion are the least of the Imperiums problems.
Not researching new technology and religion are the least of the Imperiums problems.
They've got, like seven unstoppable gods of death after them. Eight if Khaine counts.
What is it then?
*above post*
I see, but even thou, researching new tech avoiding the AI would help them alot in their struggle, and that's true
Besides, Religion and faith of the Emperor is keeping humanity united in a common cause.
Er, the universe isn't a face. It's a space.
That's like saying "all the whales on the face of the ocean".
Besides, Orkz is best. Dem bugs is weak.
GARRRHHHH, feel free to correct it yourself. Also, yeah Orkz are pretty good, but I'd rather stick to the Chaos, it only grows stronger... Unless the Emprah dies, then we're fucked.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem.
Chaos is much like sex, except instead of lying in bed at the end, it implodes and eats itself.
Chaos is much like sex, except instead of lying in bed at the end, it implodes and eats itself.
Speaking of imploding and eating yourself, what ever happened to Malal?
Speaking of imploding and eating yourself, what ever happened to Malal?
Creator left GW and they retconned him out.
They think that there's a magical fucking man inside of computers and when they fix computers they're waking him up.
They think that the reason guns fail in combat is because they're mad at you.
They think that Orkz ain't best.
These are stupid motherfuckers.
For exemple: The Deathwatch are afraid to paint all their armor (beside the right shoulder pad, they keep to show the chapter they came from) cause they beleive it will make the Machine Spirit angry
That make me laught
But, NONE can deny...
Hynn' Might tale is FUCKING BADASS

Well Captain Gideon pissed off his terminator armour by ditching his old weapons in favour of the Power Sword/Stormbolter ones, next bit of action he saw, he got badly wounded. Not entirely painting the armour is honouring the deeds and action of its past wearers over several centuries.
Plush the Machine Spirit does exist in a lot of things, mostly vehicles but also power armour (machine spirit = onboard CPU etc)
Besides, Religion and faith of the Emperor is keeping humanity united in a common cause.
I mean the fact on banning research and improvement.
The fact that the Faith to the Great Emperor giving humanity spiritual power to fight no matter is undeniable, but they fear to repeat what they did in the Dark Ages of Technology too much IMO
Well considering humanity was almost wiped out through numerous things, is it any wonder. Warp Storms, Age of Strife, Men of Iron.
the Men of Iron were legendary sentient humanoid machines created by humans during the Dark Age of Technology. Until shortly before the Age of Strife, the Men of Iron were loyal only to Mankind, and served as their army. They came after the Men of Stone, but before the "modern" conception of robots in the Warhammer 40k universe. Eventually, they turned on their Human masters, believing themselves superior to the Humans who relied on the Men of Iron to do virtually everything for them. In the end, the Men of Iron were destroyed by Humanity.
The effects of this last into the current Age of the Imperium, where the use of artificial intelligence is banned and seen as abominable. However, servitors and their variations (combat variants, heavy-lifters, technical assistants, etc) are commonly used throughout the Imperium with the sanctioning of Tech-priests.
Although in the modern imperium the ban is on Artificial intelligence not limited by biological parts./Sentient AI
Pre Heresy they were all anti religion and they didn't get fucked over then. Then again this was before the Eye of Terra existed and before Slaanesh was born.
Actually it was the creation of Slaanesh and the Eye of Terror that caused the warp storms around earth to become incredibly intense and then formed a single massive warp storm which suddenly subsided. This allowed the Emperor to start the Great Crusade. So they were all anti-religion during that and most of the Heresy.
Plush the Machine Spirit does exist in a lot of things, mostly vehicles but also power armour (machine spirit = onboard CPU etc)
Yeah, I figured it out while reading the lexicanum.
But... They let their own vehicles/armor control itself like it was a something with needs and emotions
That's kinda... uninteligent...
We can't blame them... They are blinded by their beleifs
Uh, I never said they weren't anti religion during that?
I'm just saying that having another chaos god around and having a gateway to the warp open is going to be troubhle.
Only some Imperial Vehicles have onboard AI powerful enough to actually control all the systems in an emergency, armour is not controlled by the onboard computer systems, well, nothing more than the auto regulated systems within it.
As for things without computers, see trying to keep the machine spirit happy as hoping the internal mechanisms won't fail.
I mean, some over-react too much with that machine spirit.
Brb cheering up my bolter
Not particularly, keeping the machine spirit happy is akin and usually is performing regular maintainence to the device.
Not particularly, keeping the machine spirit happy is akin and usually is performing regular maintainence to the device.
Keeping the machine spirit happy is basically like keeping your car maintained, give it fuel when it needs it, check the engine when it goes check engine.
Doesn't matter anyway. Sooner or later mankind will either be wiped out by it's ever growing psyker populace or will be completely changed by it.

Shit I'd be surprised if the Imperium even made it into M43. Everything just seems to be falling apart so fast.

From what I've read they're supposed to completely buttfucked in M42. Something about a prophecy and the end of the universe and all that shit.
So, any race with warp technology and travel is susceptible to Chaos?
Then why has the Imperium been the only ones to switch over? Why not Orks?
Well then, can't they just put a hold on the whole advances in technology is forbidden because you die and get khornated!11!1 shit, and still be united in one cause, by the Emperor?
Or will it lead to "misguidance"?
So, any race with warp technology and travel is susceptible to Chaos?

Because any Ork showing signs of Chaos infection would be killed for being unorky.

Well there's a few theories as to what will happen, the Star Child Prophesy or the emperor finally dies, owns the chaos gods in the warp.

I thought Orks weren't affected by the powers of the warp. And ork psykers or wierdboyz draw power from the waaagh.
