Our planet can't hold 100 trillion people that's for sure.
Yes it can, Terra is the biggest hive world out there, and if the Captical hive of a world like Necromunda is 9 miles tall, imagine the entire planet being covered like they were plates of armour. Because it is, there are no seas, they dried up and we built over the remains long ago.
That's also a reason why there are so many Agri Worlds, entire worlds dedicated to producing food.
Our planet can't hold 100 trillion people that's for sure.
Hive. City. Very very cramped. Hundreds die every day because a building collapses onto another building, domino effect, takes out a thousand people and no-one notices until months later. By which time another hundred thousand pilgrims have arrived.
The Oceans are gone on Terra. The Entire planet has been converted into cityscape and hive. The Hive Spire are more than 10 miles tall and run deep underground. The Imperial Palace takes up Most of what used to be Europe.

Poor caretaker :(
But yeah, they have libraries that extend into the earths crust, detailing Humanities past. People get lost and die down there regularily.
OR
You woudn't want to live in the 40k universe.
sounds like space fascism
I just got a quote from a friend over MSN about Hiveworlds if anyone's interested:
They've got spires that reach the clouds, and tunnels that go underground, the bottom layer of the city is the old city, that got squashed by the above city. That's the underhive, you don't go down there. People live their entire lives never seeing the sun or washing, mutants and predators stalk the shadows, which are everywhere. Above that is the middle hive, they see the sunlight sometimes. This is a better place to live, but it's still shit. Cramped, dirty, imagine Camden. Then they get Hive-quakes, when several buildings collapse and form a new part of the underhive, thousands die and no-one gives a shit. Then there's the upperhive. Rich fuckers up here, all airy fairy, but if you're unlucky, the spire collapses. The 41st millenium, an Architects wet-dream and nightmare all in one. Shit sucks mann.
I think that sums up most hive words, assuming the hive follows the standard "template", a spire essentialy, underhive, middle hive, upperhive. Unless you're on Ambulon, which is just awesome.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner folks!
I always thought it was an old one Final Soloution, incase the necrons started waking again, conducted in another galaxy for security.
I've always thought that too, but seeing as GW is supposed to be introducing a new race to both 40K and Fantasy it makes sense that the 'Nids would be running from something.
I thought Terra was mainly command centers, half the world being the palace and half being the library of whatever and all that administrative stuff.
Not thousands upon thousands of apartmented townhouse skyscrapers

I'm interested in who they'll be introducing.
We already have demons, orks, elves (both light and dark) dwarves, humans and goblins, who are they going to be introducing now.

Something unescessary I fear. Like the C'tan :argh: Necrons are fine, C'tan arn't.
40k is awesome. Does facepunch have a warhammer custom forum? Or at least a megathread?
Something unescessary I fear. Like the C'tan :argh: Necrons are fine, C'tan arn't.
C'tan are probably one of the primary reasons the Warhammer 40k Universe is so shitty.

Here it is.
Does it have to be compared to our planet?
Also, our planet is 71% water, Terra probably is many times the size, and has hardly any water, if not none.
Terra IS Earth. Terra is latin for Earth.
You are still somewhat right however, they drained most of the water from Terra to build hive structure.
What's Warhammer 40K?
Something awesome.
Shut up Q, you're wanted by the FBI for hanging out at disaster locations. But yeah you're right, atleast he's a "goodguy" for now.
hey you get the fuck out, Dudley, you flew halfway across the world beating up random people just to look for your antique car. Also Emprah is awesome.
:geno:
The last five pages have been nothing but RavenQ arguing with everyone about Warhammer 40K canon.
What's Warhammer 40K?
google it :pseudo:

I've heard rumors about them being crystalline in nature, but I'm not totally sure on that.

Let's fight like gentlemen!
Someone play DoW2 with me. :quagmire:
On a side note, Obliterators are actually living weapons. The obliterator virus causes their skin to merge with metal, and they produce their own ammunition from their body. Awesome.
C'tan are probably one of the primary reasons the Warhammer 40k Universe is so shitty.
I know, it's like GW just flicked all gamers the finger.
"Yep, that new chaos god? DIdn't bother us. The Horus Heresy? All that power at the command of the chaos gods? Not happenin'. Tyranids? That huge hive mind and fleets of trillions upon trillions of biowarriors? Of course not! That didn't wake us! We fought the creators of the universe and sort of lost, and now we're back and your lives just got unesscessarily more grimdark!"
I think the Old Ones created the universe...I'm more concerned with the here and now, I don't mind Necrons. Necrons are cool, they're...the iron men or something. The C'tan can jsut fuck off though :argh:

Sorry, I meant as in present day Earth.
I thought the Star Child was just a conspiracy made up by Tzeentch
Everything is a conspiracy made up by Tzeentch. Even the deciever.

Obliterator virus is one of the sexiest viruses in the entire warhammer universe. I would love to contract it, at least if I lived in that kind of world.

I stand to my opinion that the Tau are the nicest faction in the galaxy. Despite running a literally nazi regime for the most part.
Where did you find it? It's not on http://ultramarinesthemovie.com/ or the blog.
I think your guys are getting trolled, It if was from the site, It would have abunch of logos/trademarks/copyright stuff on the bottom, Like this:

Ohh god... Space Hunk in 3D... Made by the makers of Bionicle... Yep, prepare for another Nerdraeg.
Adding more to the topic of warp travel, not all warp capable ships have navigators on board. To my knowledge, Unwerth's ship in Ravenor returns does not have one, and in the second soul drinkers book, there is a part near the beginning which mentions how few navigators there are to go around all the ships.
I think the Old Ones created the universe
Nah, they were just the oldest and most advanced space-fairing race. The C'tan were born at the creation of the universe and are much older than the Old Ones.
