Because the average life expectancy of a guardsman is 15 hours, not years. They are used as cannon fodder.
In fact, one commissar marched some IG shoulder to shoulder to clear a minefield.
But it is not, Guardsmen aren't much cannon fodder as people like to think. When you actually look at them they are well trained soldiers like our modern military, it all depends on what regiment the planet comes from, you don't see 1st Tanith dying so quickly say to Valhallen's, all about the culture and training they come from. Then again, if you read the Commissar Cain books you notice Valhallen's aren't the cannon fodder people think they are.
Guardsmen often survive for years, once you survive your first few days that is. Oh and just for further development there are about one million planets owned by the Imperium, but that's a old and rough figure.
LOL, a las gun can't even penetrate Astartes armor.
100 guardsmen would die in less than a minute against a SM.
A lasgun on fall blast can punch through walls, normal shots can rip off limbs.

Really depends on the Regiment or Battalion the Guardsmen hail from, some Hive World I'd understand, but somewhere like Cadia, the odds are pretty high that that would happen.
No, it is fact that there are only 1 million marines give or take a few thousand in existence at a time.
Official fluff says there are around one thousand chapters, so that is 100k Marines.

But we are talking astartes here, they are 8ft tall, armor made from spaceship hull, genetically modified to kick ass.

Exactly, the reason they die en masse because they, well, are simply normal humans going up against vastly superior foes (in terms of either technology, numbers in the case of Tyranids or occasionally Orks, or firepower.)
Official fluff says there are around one thousand chapters, so that is 100k Marines.
Only the Smurfs have exactly 1000 marines.
The Dark Templars have something like 10k, maybe I'm wrong but some chapter has around that number.
Should of done Blood Angles, way more badass then ultramarine's.
Should of done Blood Angles, way more badass then ultramarine's.
Blood Angels would be better for an appearance, not as the main group.
Personally I would have preferred the Black Templar.

Power armor is made of thick ceramite plates, Imperial ships are made from some metal I forget the name of, some super titanium of some sort.
A Guardsmen could take out a space marine with good tactics and stealth, not one on one. The Tanith took out a bunch of Chaos Marines once in an ambush using those methods.
Space Wolves.
Black Templars are too religious.
LOL, a las gun can't even penetrate Astartes armor.

It doesn't have to. 100 lasbolts hitting the same spot is gonna do more than scratch the paint.

Ceramite is used as spaceship hull. Platsteel is used for the main hull though.
Stealth? Stealth! HA!
Marines could enter your home and cut your head off without you even noticing.

Yeah, its rumored but official records state one thousand, such fluff of the Black Templar's is only guess rumors but even then the Black Templar's would only spanned into maybe one hundred marines, so it does not really make much difference, the same with space wolfs, they only have two hundred so marines extra over a thousand average.
It doesn't have to. 100 lasbolts hitting the same spot is gonna do more than scratch the paint.
Well if you see a bunch of 8ft tall huge men running at you with .75 caliber rifles, not to mention they explode inside you, you won't shoot straight.
With giant chainswords that are designed to gracefully slice you into bits.

Depends on what Gaurd regiment. A gaurd regiment near the eye of terror will go. Shut up and fire straight. Hes most likely used to that kind of crap.

Unless they brainwash you

If Orks can kill Blood Ravens in the numbers we saw in the Dawn of War Intro, then I'd think it's possible for 100 Guardsmen to kill a Space Marine.
If that is even canon, of course.

I would notice a 8-10 foot man in my home wearing thick power armor, marines are not designed to be super sneaky, that's made for scouts. You can out wit a Marine sometimes, just like the Tanith who are expert stealth warriors.
LOL, a las gun can't even penetrate Astartes armor.

You play too much Dawn of War
In some examples it only leaves a scratch, however as stated above, 100 shots would do some serious damage, and also there are weak spots in the armor, such as joints.
Unless they brainwash you
Space Marines are mostly brainwashed too.
Depends on what Gaurd regiment. A gaurd regiment near the eye of terror will go. Shut up and fire straight. Hes most likely used to that kind of crap.
Again, Cadian, they are the best that the Imperial Guard has to offer, I think 100 of them would be able to kill a single, isolated Space Marine.

The trailers like that are just for show, real marines are a lot harder than that.
You play too much Dawn of War
Dawn of War had the Space Marines fielding almost a hundred marines at once.
Mister Gabriel Angelos killed his company several times over throughout the campaign.
Even though he is badass.

If he plays DoW, why isn't he saying that 100 Guardsmen would take out at least 80 SMs?
Space Marines are mostly brainwashed too.
But they are literally walking tanks! With EXPLODING ROUNDS!
Can we all agree that one expert Imperial Guardsman could be worth around 10-20 PDF Soldiers?
Official fluff says there are around one thousand chapters, so that is 100k Marines.
Apparently 1,000*1,000 definitely equals 1,000,000 rather than 100,000. Additionally, most Chapters (aside from three; the Grey Knights, the Black Templars and the Storm Wolves) abide by the Inquisition-enforced Codex guide of 1,000 Astartes per chapter.

You should read Ciaphas Cain, he has some fun times with PDF soldiers whom he loaths.
But they are literally walking tanks! With EXPLODING ROUNDS!
That's why they kick ass.

I've never played Dawn of War in my life.
I refuse to play any game that destroys the fluff that much. I have seen videos where Kasrkin destroy a baneblade in melee.
You are overassumptive. I know lots about the fluff.
Anyway, thats if they can even hit the marine, because he would most likely dodge around or use cover if he realizes he is too shot at.
