It's a great film, but some points in the movie are kind of boring. Also, I prefer The Final Cut edition to any other, the narrating was annoying.
Rashomon
Schindler's List
Gran Torino
Goodfellas
The Departed
A History of Violence
To Kill A Mockingbird
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (just..you know..good film!)
Watchmen
Wanted
V for Vendetta
most people find tarkovsky boring, I'm pleasantly surprised to find someone on facepunch open minded enough to like his films, he's an excellent director
It's the only film I've seen by Tarkovsky. and it's a great movie. I consider it a classic science fiction movie.
Megafault. :smug:

Before the police entered the building, there were gun shots, which implies he was killed.
#Brazil...where hearts were entertaining Jill..#
A great film.
I recommend Duel, Spielberg's first film and the three masterpieces from Peter Jackson's early career; Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles and Braindead (only if you're broad-minded enough). Trailers in order below.

You need to understand the psychological aspect of it.
The Fall
I cannot stress enough how awesome this movie is.

"It takes your mind on an adventure you can only experience* in you imaginations. "
Is a great way to describe it.
You have to watch it with an open mind. If you have not seen it. WATCH IT.
Other than the map on the mystic NOTHING was done with cgi.
1.Dr. Strangelove
2.Pulp Fiction
3.Star Wars
4.Django
5.Young Frankenstein
6.Dirty Harry
Old, Long films. But very worth watching.

im sure there's some deep meaning to the movie, but the fact that the main character first is a doctor who wants to cure his wife's disease, and then becomes a conquistador who looks for a tree of life (which turns out to be the book his wife is writing), and then becomes an astronaut in a surreal environment where he basically mourns the fact that he was unable to cure the person he made the cure for, ruined the movie for me
all of those things could've been portrayed as him being a doctor, and all the two subplots did was convolute the main plot

seconded, although many people may find it tedious to watch all the way through
the Rocky series is quite a good watch, that and Rambo.
The Searchers- the best western AND best John Wayne movie all in one. It has it all, gorgeous cinematography, iconic images, great dialogue, memorable characters, and an ending that has been copied many times(Spielberg's War of the Worlds, for instance).
John Wayne actually plays his typical character...except this movie shows what that character is REALLY about. Blatantly racist, amoral, psychopathic in his obvious love of killing- it's shocking really, to think Mr All American Hero was willing to even consider playing this. History(of movies) has proven it to be a smart move though.

while I haven't seen it, that's a bold claim considering sergio leone basically holds the throne for best westerners, you can practically take a pick from the dollars trilogy or once upon a time in america and say it's the best western ever
Where the fuck is Jacobs Ladder.

I'll have to check that movie out.

oh, and Moon. I love that movie.

Well, I appreciate what Leone did, he had a distinctive style. But he worked in an era where you could include the kind of content that John Ford could only dream of, if he were inclined to go in that direction.
So, yeah, allowing for standards allowed in US movies at the time, I believe The Searchers is as good as it got.
