Usually yeah I do the exposure correction, then go over with dodge/burn
I like all of them except for the 4th, 8th, and 9th ^^
Excellent photos, number 3 got me hard. Only complaint I have is, in my opinion, that 3 needs some cropping. I just feel there's a little too much empty space at the top and bottom. Like this:
Usually HDR Looks bad even when done correctly.
What I do is something that ALMOST looks like HDR, but really all I'm doing is correcting underexposure on the ground when I do a properly exposed sky shot.
They're good when they compliment the composition. Most of them are all "BOOM, VIBRANT COLORS, HIGHLIGHTS, SHADOWS, IN YOUR FACE."
It's like the first priority is to make it a HDR photo, and a good composition only comes second.

I never crop my pics out of the original format, it just looks wrong and amateurish to me. I guess I'm just a weird son of a bitch.
Anyways, I don't want you to only look at the car, as I said before. The gradient asphalt is there for a reason too. Just because there's nothing on it, it doesn't mean that it doesn't add anything to the photo, in my eyes. It's like a picture frame, doesn't really do much, but looks nice some times.
The 350Z has only recently started to grow on me too. Shot 7 shows its best side, really quite reminiscent of a 911.
First and second to last are my favorites, the rest don't put enough emphasis on the car IMO
