Because im not crying about being born in the wrong generation? lol I think you guys are taking what i say way to personally. I simply stated that i find that pop music now has gone down hill from what it used to be and the only reason pop music gets big now is if its branded.
Valve are good businessmen, but mediocre developers; they don't make bad games per se, but the finished product is often quite dull and conservative.
I've been seeing enough people trying to argue that humans need to move on beyond things like DOOM and Dead Space/that they're doing more harm than good by making people so comfortable with violence/turning violence into a source of entertainment/etc. I can kind of understand why they might think that, I probably wouldn't be as not-bothered-by things like guns or violence if I hadn't been exposed to them a lot in the media growing up (The first time I saw a gun in reality when I was about 12, it terrified the living hell out of me.) but at the same time, I feel like enjoying violence on some level is a pretty human thing, and I don't think there's really anything wrong with offering a way for people to experience violent catharsis safely and in the comfort of your own home, you know? Also I can't really find a way to word this without sounding like I might be a Serial Killer.
Well, the aggression-catharsis hypotheses has been proven wrong countless times. Watching aggressive behaviour, imagining it or playing aggressive video games makes you more aggressive and not the other way around. There are a ton of studies regarding it if you really give a fuck. And for the people who will go "It doesn't make me aggressive!"; I would agree speaking from an inductive standing point. I never had the feeling that playing violent video games makes me more aggressive but that doesn't mean that they really don't.

It went to #1 in 18 countries. Sold over 15 million copies worldwide. 16 weeks at #1 in the UK (still a record), 7 in the US, 9 in Canada. The album it was on went to #1 in 9 countries and sold over 16 million worldwide. What song am I talking about? Not to be rude (sorry about that earlier, didn't mean to) but don't think for a second pop was ever whatever image you seem to have of it. There's plenty of colossal stinkers in any year that were obscenely popular. If you have some time to kill, grab a Billboard Hot 100 end-year list from a random year (bonus points the further back you go) and see how many songs on that list are any good.
People only like pitbulls to be contrary
pyotr ilyich tchaikovsky > dmitri shostakovich

There are stinkers everywhere, im not denying that. I just think pop nowadays (talking about Nicki Minaj, Kesha, Pitbull, Iggy etc...) have possibly the worst lyrics and music rhythm there has been for a while. Like 2013 when we had a burst of artists bringing old song tunes back into their songs to try and make their terrible lyrics "better". Maybe im not actually blaming the music as such. Just the artists themselves. I don't know. Its all about image now, not the music. Which is what i originally meant.

And bear in mind, music was plenty image-driven back in the day too. To go back to the late 80s-early 90s, Milli Vanilli? Or how about Vanilla Ice? His debut album spent, and God do I wish I was fucking joking, 16 consecutive weeks at #1. Really think about that. In the same year that featured #1 albums from MC Hammer and New Kids On The Block. Man, the early 90s sound like a horrible time in music. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that comments like that are inherently flawed because a lot of complaints can be applied just as much to other periods of music, sometimes verbatim.

I also think we've entered a new age of music, with the overcommercialization of pop music and the rise of underground music via the internet. There's still a handful of good pop songs out there, especially by Kanye West, Bruno Mars, and a few others, but if you want to find music you're likely to enjoy, you need to dig harder for it these days. I'd like to add that, for lack of a better word, rap and its variants have gotten popular over the past several years, and for a lot of people in circles such as these, this is considered a bad thing. Yet I've also met some people who are genuinely into this type of music, and that's cool with me.
Nah i disagree, i believe anything before 2006 had some decent pop songs that had rhythm and lyrical genius in. But today, it's all just garbage.
I don't understand why people like smacking LEDs on everything inside a 5 mile radius of their computer. I guess it can look cool if you do it well, but I just don't feel the want or understand the need except being able to see inside the tower on the rare occasion that you need to do that. I think it would be pretty distracting when playing games and shit.
God that song is so overplayed. But it is a good song. Its one of those hidden gems
If it plays every hour on the radio at work it is not a hidden gem.
If it plays every hour on the radio at work it is not a hidden gem.
To him, it's a hidden gem among the pop music which he generally dislikes.

But honestly, I can't remember the name of the law. But I think you've fallen prey to the law which states that 90% of everything is crap, with only the 10% remembered later on.

I'm okay with vaporware to a extent.

I think that there should be a lot less blue lights around in general for this reason. I also use the program f.lux and advise everyone do the same. It sucks
So? As long as it sounds good I don't really see the problem.
There is no such thing as good pop music. It sounds AWFUL.

Otherwise you just do the same shit over and over. In SP you just have to sit back and watch the battle unless you want to auto lose.
Sex is a biological classification, not a social construct.

People should be allowed to own Confederate Flsgs for what ever reason, to fly them, to wear them, do whatever with them because of free speech. I don't think Government Institutions should be flying them however since it's a defeated government. It's like if the USSR started flying the Nazi flag after WWII.

At the risk of sounding hipster 7 was the game where Final Fantasy really went mainstream. It was the first 3D Final Fantasy and for a very large amount of its fanbase the first Final Fantasy game or even JRPG that they played. If you play it nowadays the tech is no longer impressive, or if you play it having already played Final Fantasy 4/5/6/9 the game itself is a pretty big letdown.
*sex
Gender isn't a social construct either, otherwise trans persons wouldn't exist. Or are you saying being transgender is a choice?
he means that sex is biological, gender is mental
To me the biological includes the mental but alright.
