Most movies, music, and TV shows in these recent years really suck.

if you think that there haven't been some incredible films/tv shows in the past couple of years you are watching the wrong stuff
Signs is an awesome movie aside from the ending
Signs probably has one of the most mindbendingly dumb endings I've ever seen.
I heard a commercial say "The most creative thing Pixar has done to date"
Like what, did they even see Osmosis Jones?
Not to mention the whole "people in your brain" thing is far from original. I've seen a few cartoons and advertisements that were based on the same idea.
Most movies, music, and TV shows in these recent years really suck.
As said by someone who hasn't paid any attention to movies, music, and TV shows in a few years.
The 'oh X media used to be so much better years ago, it sucks now' is an absolutely fucking retarded statement that holds only idiotic argument. Generally because they ignore what was shit/generic years ago in favour of the classics that lasted, and ignore what's great now because of the shit that comes with it.
The thread is called unpopular opinions, and that's my unpopular opinion.
My new unpopular opinion is that this thread isn't really about unpopular opinions. :v:

No one's saying you can't let out your opinion here, but if people think it's dumb they're just as entitled to a counter argument as you are to the original statement. Freedom of speech is never a defense from criticism because claiming it makes you above criticism is the exact opposite purpose of freedom of speech.

Oh jeez, there's someone like you every couple pages
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from criticism, it means freedom to criticize.
I think the sphinx of Giza is ugly as fuck.
I mean, look at this shit:

Its head is fucking tiny compared to its body. Egyptians knew better than that when it came to sculpting stuff.
I've said it before and i'll say it again.

I'm sure that soldier who threw his body on a grenade in Afghanistan is feeling really nice for his deed :downs:

I don't think anyone finds it interesting because of its appearance, just the history and craftsmanship behind it.
I honestly thought it was the best Pixar film yet aside from The Incredibles.
I prefer Wall-E, Monster Inc and Toy Story by far. All in all it's rather forgettable.

Bad choice of words. Being interesting means that something about it is different, and the poor proprortions make it different and therefore interesting.
Which pretty much means that the egyptians were big fans of abstract art.

I dunno if this is just a shitty rumor or something but apparently it looks like that because the original head fell off and they did a shit job replacing it.
Winrar is better than 7zip
pepsi > coke

On the other hand people seem to be certain that everything always remain of constant quality and thinking otherwise makes you a "le wrong generation" kid.
It's not like you can objectively measure the quality of art anyway, so I don't get why someone who thinks music from the 1980s is better than music from the 2010s or that movies from the 1990s are better than movies from the 1960s would be automatically wrong.
I still think Mark Hamill's ugly mug is pretty goddamn adorable.
Speaking of Pixar, Toy Story 2 is one of their lesser films and the love it gets really baffles me

Going off of this, IMO Toy Story 3 is the best of the trilogy.

toy story 3 is basically toy story 2

but better
People say the imperial measurement system is bad because it's arbitrarily built, but technically speaking the metric system is just as arbitrary. The only thing that makes it "better" is that the numbers all match up to each other in orders of 10, 100, 1000, etc.
And even then, neither system is objectively good or bad. They have their uses and nobody is inherently right or wrong by using one or the other.
I didn't like Shogun 2 or Fall of the Samurai

It's a bit more complex than that, all the basic units are linked together, for instance 1m^3 of water weights exactly a ton. You can argue that the imperial system is more relatable and convenient for practical stuff like cooking, but when it comes to scientific stuff the metric system is objectively superior. The English only refused to adopt the metric system out of disdain for the French, after all.
