As I said, there's a difference between laughing at what someone said, and laughing at someone. I do the former frequently, everyone does. However, i see far more of the latter out of the GMF, and quite frankly, Cubeman is the best example of this because he's fucking Permabanned and people still give him shit. Going through people's post histories, other websites they are a part of, and stuff like that isn't just laughing at what someone said, that's laughing at that person for being them. [editline]6th February 2015[/editline] Essentially, It's the concept of attack the argument, not the one making the argument.
Cubeman's a legit bad person though who parks their car occupying two spaces and defends himself by making fun of someone's student debts, that's fucked up
attack the argument, not the one making the argument.
why? if someone's a massive racist, homophobe and weirdo i can say "look he said something stupid", but going "yeah this guy is an idiot" is too far?
Cubeman's a legit bad person though who parks their car occupying two spaces and defends himself by making fun of someone's student debts, that's fucked up
Why do you let him occupy so much space in your head if he's such a bad person then? Especially since he's been permabanned, and there is legitimately no reason for anyone to keep going on about him.
why? if someone's a massive racist, homophobe and weirdo i can say "look he said something stupid", but going "yeah this guy is an idiot" is too far?
You don't attack people personally, you attack their argument/what they're saying. like for example a couple pages ago, I could have easily said "You're racist for saying that". Instead, I said that what you had said was racist. One's a personal attack, the other is havibg andebate. [editline]6th February 2015[/editline]
what space, I just read a facebook image someone posted, laughed and moved on lmao
Then why make that post above going on about how he's a bad person? If you actually didn't care you woildn't have even bothered saying that.
why do you care so much to defend terrible people that don't care about you?
"occupy so much space in your head" man ever since i looked at that one funny picture of cubeman, i can't get him out of my head! someone help me please! every waking moment is cubeman! my mornings are brandon, my afternoons are neider! PLEASE SEND HELP
why do you care so much about defending terrible people that don't care about you?
This isn't about me, this is about not being a shitty person and attacking people personally, especcially once their permabanned.
Then why make that post above going on about how he's a bad person? If you actually didn't care you woildn't have even bothered saying that.
lmao its a single post literally less than 20 words that's the opposite of caring too much in my book
Case in point, in LMAO Pics there was this comic about some dog saying he's bad to the bone and riding off on a motorcycle. Someone said "Man sure reminds me of Cubeman" and someone made an edit of it using Cubeman's face.
This isn't about me, this is about not being a shitty person and attacking people personally, especcially once their permabanned.
sorry I made fun of someone on the internet for doing terrible things, I guess the world is filled with shitty people if you think that way
Case in point, in LMAO Pics there was this comic about some dog saying he's bad to the bone and riding off on a motorcycle. No, it's filled with people who do shitty things. Everyone ends up doing shitty things, its about not letting those things become a cornerstone of your life. [editline]6th February 2015[/editline]
oh no! the humanity! how could someone be so vile??
Are you going to have a discussion or are you going to try for your zingers?

You can make fun of someone for doing something stupid in the moment and not have that person in your mind constantly or change the way you do things, come on now.
so what have you never seen the amount of memes people make everywhere mocking someone
It's the fact he's permabanned and people keep going on and on about him. Is it not even slightly creepy to you at all that they went to find anpicture of his face, or had one saved already?
he uploaded them himself though
Are you going to have a discussion or are you going to try for your zingers?
nah i just think its ridiculous that you're accusing people of being shitty but your first example is photoshopping cubeman's head onto a comic like, that's probably the most harmless joke anyone has ever made about him?
he uploaded them himself though
I don't think ge had the intention of people saving them in mind when he uploaded them. That's just creepy tbh. [editline]6th February 2015[/editline]
nah i just think its ridiculous that you're accusing people of being shitty but your first example is photoshopping cubeman's head onto a comic like, that's probably the most harmless joke anyone has ever made about him?
It's just a recent example I remember off the top of my head, it's the principal of it.
I don't think ge had the intention of people saving them in mind when he uploaded them. That's just creepy tbh.
you don't really need to save them, it's not hard to find things online though it might be creepy for some really bad reasons, making a harmless photoshop joke isn't really creepy at all [editline]6th February 2015[/editline] i mean, people have been doing them since ps came out, so...
Gold members are the best though
This isn't about me, this is about not being a shitty person and attacking people personally, especcially once their permabanned.
Doesn't he still make alts to post with occasionally?
Doesn't he still make alts to post with occasionally?
Not that I know of. He was unbanned for a while, the banned again (and he certainly deserved that ban). The only person I know who keeps making Alts is Maladroit iirc, always see people banned for being his alt.
Gold members are the best though
see this guy gets it
That reminds me, the person I bought Gold for recently requested a perma because of the SH rule changes :v: I bought him Gold because it was bought for me.
I think the GMF is worse than fast threads.
Last time I checked, this thread was called "Unpopular Opinions". Not "Post the cold, hard truth".
To be fair it was awhile ago. (Late 2012 I believe.) I'm definitely not mixing you up with someone else though because it was during a time when you were having some issues with someone else who I commonly talk to on Steam. Maybe you had just misworded what you meant but I definitely remember you saying that you didn't believe autism existed. I was actually really confused when you said it because it was shortly after we'd talked about your brother being autistic in fact. (That being the main reason I remember it too.) And it wasn't intended so much as a personal blow as it was to address all relevant issues since I've seen how you argue before. Fair enough point there though, I could see how it would be interpreted that way looking back over my wording. Regardless though my point in the end is this: Ragging on someone like that isn't going to be productive, especially when you're not showing much understanding of the situation which is something gmf regulars have a bad habit of doing. Whether they do actually understand and still choose to do that is another debate altogether but that's how it comes across and it's kinda unfair and only serves to help ostracize someone who does the job well enough themselves when they would be better served having people try to help them out instead.
I'll say again that I'm adamant that I never said that; if I did, it was in some context I'd forgot to mention to you - but I'm still unconvinced, again likely due to memory, that the conversation ever occurred at all. Anyway, it's not like we're oblivious, though. The context of the GMF is that we're old users, ones who mostly grew up on this forum; especially in the way more stringent days of 2004-2009-ish. I'm not going to pretend I have much empathy on this site, you're right, but I also don't know whether empathy is justified. A lot of the mocking of users comes from what we find (but others obviously don't) to be legit ground - that the site has become barely tenable in terms of new users, especially young ones. I was ten years old when I joined this site, and I had fun. My first post was speculating about what HL2's striders were. Now imagine if I'd joined today. If I managed to get through the barely veiled furry porn avatar slurry, I'd enjoy constant racism across the entire board, metronome-like swinging between radical liberalism and radical conservatism, and, yes, literal pedophiles. I get this has become some kind of meme, but it's not really a joke. We've got a convicted child molester on this board who was also a popular user (JWJ) and multiple people were (attempted to be) groomed by older men on this forum, and I'm pretty sure I was among one of them c. 2010 - and then people have the gall to go around talking about how they proudly love lolicon, or shotacon, or marching around with sandwich boards decrying their plight. Seeing what the site has become is legitimately upsetting to me, and making fun of the users who I perceive to be a part of the problem - milkandcooki included - is an outlet, if you want to psychoanalyse that far. With Rust's creation, even more impressionable kids than ever before are joining the forum and yes, there is tangible evidence that at least some of them are being given really bad ideas by what's become the dominant culture 'round here - that one user in that 'no fap november' thread who ended up posting erotic fanfiction of himself fucking the users who read the post and drawing pictures of himself as a rabbit pissing and shitting. I mean, come on. I do have a reason to believe ragging on people is productive to some extent. The people who get through the GMF's hazing do tend to become aware of the things I've mentioned, or if they don't they often end up making some kind of hideous, aberrant post and get banned for it. People interfering with people outside of the forums need to be permabanned, but I continue to not see the problem with trying to encourage some basic standards here. I'm hardly even shooting for that much, but when you have drag-racing politicians who value their google glass more than being complicit in a fatal racing accident, crusaders for pedophile rights, luscious furry asses plastered across the board and people brandishing pitchforks to nuke mecca (and, of course, knowing precisely the exact payload and chemical composition of the rocket used to nuke them) - I think a group of people saying 'lmao' at them in lower caps is really not the issue at hand. I may be wrong - and I'm open to listening at this point - but I'm not yet convinced it's all that bad.
I feel that popular cartoon's art style, such as Adventure Time, is really bad and seems to encourage this weird noodle arm, no nosed, ill proportioned way of drawing characters. I see a lot of stuff like this on tumblr with very odd choices of drawing things that just look strange. It looks lazy and bad, yet people love the shit out of it.

Every time I saw that style I would think to myself it looks horrible, yet the coloring and backgrounds could be REALLY fucking good. Wasted talent.
I always thought Avril Lavigne was a good singer.
While Half Life 2 is mechanically superior to the original, I think Half Life is superior in terms of content.
