Skyrim is a terrible, dumbed down game where devs just jerk off to making their game have standards that the industry has set for them to be included.

I wouldn't mind if you gave to me then.

That's where mods come and save the day. Although I can never play a game with loads of mods since I spent 90% of my time picking and choosing them, thus never getting to the game.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I think Skyrim is better than Morrowind and Oblivion combined. The only gripe I have with Skyrim is the questlines and how generic and non-engaging they are.
Unpopular opinion: I think every Elder Scrolls game from Arena to Skyrim is fucking amazing. Each game sets a new industry standard for the open world genre, and each game is amazing in it's own right. I don't dislike any of the Elder Scrolls games and I don't buy into the whole dumbing down arguments and such. Every game does it's very best to immerse you in a huge unforgettable fantasy world and I love everything the series stand for.
The Elder Scrolls is the only game series where you get an open world and multiple approaches to gameplay, along with lots of freedom to explore and do random shit.
IMO no other game in the industry comes close to what TES gives, and I can't wait for the next one in the series.

I don't know, the Stalker series is a pretty good contender too.

I was considering buying one, but I bought a Wii U instead and haven't looked back.
PS4 will be my next console purchase though.
Dairy companies need to learn the difference between "fat free yogurt" and "sugar free yogurt"

I've also been debating a console purchase recently, and realized that I can think of way more games I would enjoy playing for the Wii U than the PS4, even though I had been dead set on getting a PS4.
LoZ: Wind Waker is the worst 3D LoZ game.
It's just a licensed copy of Dynasty Warriors :v:

Which is a shame, because it's been only going down the last 2 installments.

I disagree...morrowind had some strong points but it also has glaringly bad gameplay, and I'm not just talking about the combat. It's interesting to try and find your own way through the world but not having any guidance at all besides some poorly-written notes in a badly organized journal makes it hell to actually complete a quest, not to mention the widely-hated combat mechanics. Same for oblivion, there were some really good aspects and some negative ones, and the same with Skyrim. It has a few drawbacks but by and large does what it sets out to do, and I legitimately had fun with it for over 300 hours of gameplay. Only a few years later after other games have come by have its flaws really started to become apparent. Also, Skyrim was accessible as hell; it isn't ridiculously easy and there are aspects that are dumbed down too much, but LOTS of people were able to get into it as a result.

Honestly I think the biggest problem is that Bethesda is just not really that good at developing games. Their games are awesome and a ton of fun, my favorite game series ever are TES and Fallout, and I love Bethesda, but that's in spite of Bethesda's dozens of glaring major flaws. Any game they've ever made ever can be picked apart with ease and somehow usually involve a bunch of awfully designed experiences coming together to make something magical. Which is unfortunate, because if Bethesda were all that competent, their games would be so massively fucking incredible compared to the ones they do put out.
Bethesda: Great games assembled from popsicle sticks.
Finding out where you are supposed to go and going there is half the gameplay of morrowind though. When somebody tells you they need something from the big city you haven't been to before it's like an adventure tracking it down, but in skyrim an npc just says "i need the thing" and you get an arrow and you go there and that's it.

Their philosophy seems to be they put shit in their games if it sounds cool without much thought into them.

Too bad no-one else really makes open world games like them so they don't really need to improve their shit without competition.
Theres a fine line in this thread between insanity and opinions.

have to agree, I saw it last christmas and wasn't really engaged throughout, then when I thought it was going to pick up it just sort-of ended
felt like a whole lot of nothing happened and then it was over, I must've not been in the right mindset to watch it or something because I didn't get it

It's really not that hard, I beat the majority of quests in the game as an average 11 year old. Admittedly there are some quests where the directions aren't the best but I've had much more fun exploring and finding them than I did following a little arrow everywhere.

Prime example is Asteroidrules hating on Wind Waker.
absolute madness
I think evolve is a good game, maybe a bit overpriced but that's about it.
