I disagree...morrowind had some strong points but it also has glaringly bad gameplay, and I'm not just talking about the combat. It's interesting to try and find your own way through the world but not having any guidance at all besides some poorly-written notes in a badly organized journal makes it hell to actually complete a quest, not to mention the widely-hated combat mechanics. Same for oblivion, there were some really good aspects and some negative ones, and the same with Skyrim. It has a few drawbacks but by and large does what it sets out to do, and I legitimately had fun with it for over 300 hours of gameplay. Only a few years later after other games have come by have its flaws really started to become apparent. Also, Skyrim was accessible as hell; it isn't ridiculously easy and there are aspects that are dumbed down too much, but LOTS of people were able to get into it as a result.
Oblivion still had a decent balance, imo, and most of its flaws were fixable with mods. Skyrim just went all diaper pooper

Oblivion still required mods to fix some of its problems, like the merchant rebalancing, and the scaling issues, so yeah it still needed a bit of work to make it playable.

Heh, I actually added that right after I posted through editing. Yeah, I agree with this completely.
Might as well add that a lot of Skyrim flaws aren't so easily fixed by third parties.
I like gimp more than photoshop
I personally can't work with GIMP because I hate how everything is in a seperate window.
That was quite a long time ago though
I used to work with gimp for like 5 years and then someone (quite forcibly) introduced me to photoshop
jesus christ, i should have listened to people five years ago
I can't quite explain what makes photoshop better, but all the tools just seem to... work better in photoshop. Brushes brush nicer, eraser erases in more accurate way, and selection tool for once actually SELECTS things instead of fucking everything up
it can't be just placebo, I've noticed a massive increase in my work's quality since I switched off
Gimp does have some tools that photoshop doesn't, but I'm pretty sure there are plugins for those too
Here's one that isn't too big on FP. I think Totalbiscuit is a huge prick.
His videos are okay, but I mean it's kind of hard to fuck up videos that are essentially graphical benchmarks. But as a person he's a massive self-righteous asshole.

As far as internet celebrities goes he's quite tame, and he's actually sensible. The same can't be said of many other Youtubers.

if you use "other youtubers" as your standard then the bar is already set pretty low though

I still don't see how he could be considered as a "huge prick". Most of what he says actually makes sense and he's not especially inflammatory.
I think TB's chilled out a lot since his cancer diagnosis
Prime example is Asteroidrules hating on Wind Waker.
absolute madness
What redeeming qualities does that game have? The art style looks better on handhelds than it does on a big screen, and the only really new features were the sailing overworld which was just boring padding that artificially extended the game by making you cross a massive map with almost nothing in it.
Also, just to clarify: I'm not saying WW is necessarily a bad game, but compared to Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, etc, it's not as good.
I don't like Lets Play commentaries.
Yeah, for most I don't. A few I do find useful, like Quill18 to help me learn how the fuck to play Paradox games.
Other than that, I fucking hate most of them. I can't find much footage of games now without commentary. Back in like my Freshman year of Highschool when I would pull all nighters I would go on Youtube and find a walkthrough of a game, and just watch the game being played all the way through, sans commentary.
Now I'm hard pressed to find any sort of footage without commentary. Like I've wanted to find some nice free roam gameplay of GTA V, but most, if not all has commentary. The ones I do find for games without commentary always seem to say something like "sorry guys for the lack of commentary, my mic isn't working for some reason, I'll make sure to have it fixed for the next one!".
Telltale games have gotten progreasively more lame since TWAU EP.1
Telltale is INCREDIBLE at writing good stories.
Too bad the games they release almost always seem half broken and unfinished. I can't even count how many times Game of Thrones outright muted the audio for like 30 seconds at a time and frooooooooooze. That game froze so many fucking times, but the script is so good.
I play it on the PS3 and the audio skips every-time something is loading. It adds to the experience though. Royland always fucking skips on everything he says it seems.
"I guess settlesitdettlesdettles it then"
I can't even watch walkthroughs with commentaries. I hate hearing people talk while I'm trying to focus on games
I don't give even half a shit about the difference between 30 FPS & 60 FPS.
I can't even watch walkthroughs with commentaries. I hate hearing people talk while I'm trying to focus on games
Don't you just love it when a new trailer/gameplay is released and every video you can find is either a commentary or a reaction? Fuck those cunts.
I still don't see how he could be considered as a "huge prick". Most of what he says actually makes sense and he's not especially inflammatory.
He is pretty tactless at times and quite offensive, especially during the co-optional podcasts. He can be very condescending for no reason.
I like gimp more than photoshop
Gimp was good until you're forced to use photoshop for something, and then Photoshop just has so many better features and tools.
I liked Gimp back in the day when i was just a teen doing stuff for fun before i knew how to be a pirate. Then decided to use photoshop out of curiosity and i don't think i'd ever go back.
Plus the fact that i use illustrator and indesign and they all work well together.
But then again, i'm going into a career of graphic design so it would be difficult to get by with just Gimp haha.
He is pretty tactless at times and quite offensive, especially during the co-optional podcasts. He can be very condescending for no reason.
if you ask me, the reason why TB's popular is because the majority of content he delivers is no-nonsense port and general game quality, which is almost impossible to fuck up even if you have a super harsh personality. now that all of this recent video game crap has surfaced, tb's really shown what he's really like.
my opinion on him isn't the way it is because i'm salty that he doesn't agree with some of my opinions, i have a legitimate reason to not like him. i'm not going to respect a "critic" if he says shit like this.

(referring to ken levine (and devs in general) after a shitstorm where tb misinterpreted a journalist's joke about moron gamer objectivists that were inspired by bioshock.)
there are countless cases where he's been flat out wrong and he's refused to apologize or admit anything. in most recent memory there's the tweet i posted above, and when he said some nasty stuff about trans awareness to jim sterling.
it's baffling that a person like this is as big as he is in the gaming community.
[editline]3rd March 2015[/editline]
tbh i'm sick of talking about TB so here's another cool unpopular opinion:
i don't really like iced tea or coffee that much. i've tried to force myself to like coffee for months but i have a lot of difficulty downing it even if it's a chocolatey sweet mess from starbucks.
The only issue I've encountered in a Telltale game, is that on TWD:S1 it deleted my first save file.
The only one i got is the repeatable ending on the EP5 on TWAU.
Was fucking annoying.
The only one I got was Strong Bad's eyes disappearing

shit's spooky
People shouldn't be proud of stuff like being gay/bi/black/white/etc. Instead we should be proud of skills, stuff like sports, maths, good personal traits (e.g being funny), etc.
So I just finished watching the original series of Star Trek for the first time and I thought that the very last episode was really good because of how tense it is but apparently most of the fans hate the last episode for being sexist and campier than usual.
Silent protagonists are not cool, immersive, or mysterious. It just screams laziness to me. I prefer playing as a character knowing that their vocal cords are functioning and that their vocabulary consists of more than grunts of exertion, pained groans, and yelling.
I felt Ajay Ghale was a better protagonist than Jason Brody. Ghale, while having almost no personality, was at least not a SoCal knob who spends 90% of the time whining and poorly justifying himself to his dumb girlfriend. Ghale was bland, but Brody was awkward.
In theory, absolute monarchies - at least for the time - make perfect sense. Who better to run a country than a descendant of one who did just that, and will receive the best education and advice on the matter? It's the "divine rights of kings" and stuff that throw the idea under the bus.
This isn't me saying that it's the form of government we should follow today, merely that theoriectically monarchies do make sense as a concept.
