They designed the MP around microtransactions and ultimately made it a cheap, shoddy product. GTAO almost feels like a freemium game, except you paid 60 dollars.
It's got it all! Grinding, extremely expensive things, time stuff (can't replay missions by pressing a replay button, you HAVE to go through 2 loading screens instead, even though there was a replay button at launch), even the loading screens act as advertisements for the microtransactions at times.
If you try to buy something without having enough money on hand, it'll say "Insufficient funds. Would you like to buy GTA$?"
And for this, the Singleplayer got cut up. That's my frustration regarding GTA V.
What was originally supposed to be in the single player that they cut out?
Nobody knows for sure, but probably basically Franklins whole storyline, for a start.
It's generally about taking development times and resource away from the single player. There always could have been more stuff. Plus the feature exclusivity of some Online features which aren't inherently online based at all.
Nickleback isn't bad. They aren't a fantastic band, but a lot of their songs are actually pretty catchy
I don't get the speedrunning community whatsoever. I think it's cool to find the quickest way possible to do a game, but there are sooo many games out there, and they only focus on the most popular ones.
I think it's silly that hundreds of people keep replaying Zelda games over and over again trying to shave off seconds.

Records are made to be broken, boyo.
I hate when you ask a question and people say "do you know how to google?" "it's not hard to google the answer" "google google googoglogloelgoegl"; I just like hearing people explain things in their own terms, how fucking ~awful~.
Speaking of google; people who google the questions themselves rather than just look up the words.
It's embarrassing to see people type in "how to find a book review about how Tinkers is about medical problems running through the family." in the search box and think it'll answer their question. Adding more words like that just adds more keywords which will get you MORE wrong results instead of answering your question, yet so many people in my family do this.

what i hate is when you google a technical issue you're having, and come across some forum where someone had the exact same issue as you.
"Nvm, fixed it"
no description of what they did to fix it. just that.

You'll find speedrunners for basically any game. It's a given that the more popular a game is though the more people trying to speedrun it you'll find.

You mean shit like this? Best part is that moron never even addressed the fact that snipping everything was completely and utterly unnecessary.
Facepunch's boner for space exploration is misguided and delusional.

How come?
How come?
Because people here think it's practical and capable of amounting to anything.
Yeah, let's just sit here on our rock and stagnate and collapse into a million petty conflicts
Because people here think it's practical and capable of amounting to anything.
But it has practical uses and could offer great payoffs in many domains. Sure it's extremely complicated and requires a huge amount of resources, but the results can make it worthwhile.
Because people here think it's practical and capable of amounting to anything.
i think the reason people push for furthering our space program now is because it's got such a long road ahead of it. better to get started early.
There's also the bit where a pretty huge chunk of the modern world as we know it is built on technologies that emerged as a direct result of research into the potential for space travel
But it has practical uses and could offer great payoffs in many domains. Sure it's extremely complicated and requires a huge amount of resources, but the results can make it worthwhile.
Except that within our current understanding of the laws of physics extrasolar travel is completely impossible without a massive increase in our potential lifespans and the potential benefits of travel within our solar system are limited at best.
People around here act like schoolkids on this, it's all just "yeah space is cool I'm gonna meet aliens" with no understanding of what actually would go into it and the limitations of our reality as we understand it.
i think the reason people push for furthering our space program now is because it's got such a long road ahead of it. better to get started early.
But it's not, we understand our limits within the laws of reality and they make large scale space travel for humans at best ludicrously impractical.
So then why not do space research now until we find a way to get out of the solar system? It's either we research it and are stuck here, or we never get off this planet and are doomed to die with it. Why NOT try? There's no downside to trying
Yes there is, and that downside is putting all our eggs in a basket that we know has no bottom. Improving our situation and understanding on this planet is infinitely more possible than fulfilling your childhood dreams of colonizing other galaxies.
But it's not, we understand our limits within the laws of reality and they make large scale space travel for humans at best ludicrously impractical.
Our understanding of the laws of reality is totally static, right?

i don't know i'm not looking at it as "space is cool YEAH" i'm seeing it as "we need to push our space program now or else we die with earth". with space any step is meaningful. I don't think anyone expects to be pushing shit like travelling out of the solar system anytime soon, but if we could at least put more research into exactly what's out there it would still go a long way.
baby steps
I think Elon Musk is great and all, but there's such a circlejerk about him like holy shit.

I wasn't realizing you were talking about extrasolar travel. And even kept in the confines of our solar system, space exploration has many benefits, I don't know where you get those "limited benefits" from. Aside from the huge boost in survivability induced by living on several planets (and I don't see how you could consider this a negligible advantage), huge amounts of resources are available in our solar system, and sooner or later harvesting some of them in space to meet demand is going to be more profitable.
As for interstellar travel, that would indeed be quite impractical given the current limitations of the human body, but who's to say we're bound to keep those limitations? Humans have been augmenting themselves for a long time, so I don't see why it would be out of the question to make extrasolar travel practical for humans one day.
Yes there is, and that downside is putting all our eggs in a basket that we know has no bottom.
You're assuming a lot of things here. What exactly makes you say we know this basket has no bottom? So far I haven't seen any proof towards space travel not being viable.
I think it's just shortsighted and bloody ignorant to think that space travel will never be viable in any way shape or form, that's just completely blind to human history and ignorant of human ingenuity as well as the human drive to explore
There was a point in history when just traversing large swaths of your own continent was wildly impractical and dangerous
There was a point when intercontinental travel was completely inconceivable, as far as anyone knew, one continent was all there was, there wasn't even the concept of a continent, there was just the known world, that was the entire universe
Nowadays you can book a flight from Vancouver to Sydney and arrive in a matter of hours, not even an entire day, to traverse Pacific ocean, to go twelve thousand kilometers, literally half the entire world away like it's nothing, and that is kind of a huge fucking deal
One of the things people forget about space colonization is that robots are cheaper.
It seems much more likely that robots will be used to explore the universe. Few humans are going to be leaving.
Also why would you even want to leave? Space is for the most part, completely empty and it takes decades to get anywhere interesting.
