I thought the world was over arguing which platform is better lol
Local Multiplayer.
Not that a lot of games still cater to that.
Consoles have stopped doing that too.
Consoles are more expensive than you think.
Tv + console + peripherals + monthly fee + not a lot of game sales on the scale of PC
A good tv and a console is probabaly 800 dollars right there. Add in the extra controler and mic, there's 900. 960 for a year of w/e service. 1100 dollars after you have a handful of games.
A good PC can cost you from 800 to 1200 depending on what you want. A 900 dollar one ( including monitor!) will probably outclass modern consoles. Add in etc, mice, keyboard, w/e, 1,000 dollars. Add in 100 dollars worth of games, that's anywhere from a handful to a bucketload, depending on what you buy is on sale or not. 1100 dollars.
But then the computer is also a computer, more than just a gaming system. Can't type word documents on a console!
And the way I see it, everyone needs a computer, a decent one. 600 dollars for a decent computer, right? Well take money you would've spent on a console, 400, add it to that 600, there's money to buy a mid grade gaming computer, 2-in-1 machine! Better than a 600 dollar computer or 400 dollar console could ever hope to be.
Most people already have a TV, and a mic and online service is totally optional.

Still not gonna be cheaper in the long run

Like seriously look at my Steam library
Most of it is from gifts and giveaways, the stuff I actually bought myself I paid under thirty bucks for, and that's just my Steam library, and compared to most, it's tiny
Outside that, I've got a few older titles snagged off GOG, most of which were freebies, a bunch of physical copies hanging around, a rat's nest of freeware titles, and of course there's always mods for the games that actually support it
Naturally, pricing varies from location to location and it's all down to your savvy as a shopper, but you're generally gonna find PC titles to be cheaper, if for no other reason than the sheer volume of sales for digital distribution services
Whatever works for you is fine and cool, but I just don't think consoles are a good value in contrast to a solid computer
my beef with walmart isnt even about the working conditions (not that thats not a problem), the thing i hate the most about them is how they absolutely destroy local businesses in small towns
Most big-name grocery or general stores have the exact same effect when they're established in a small town though. Walmart gets all of the flak because South Park popularized the concept by using Walmart as an example.
i prefer to play video games on crts and will always choose them over hdtvs when given the chance
i prefer to play video games on crts and will always choose them over hdtvs when given the chance
I always play older games on CRT TVs because of nostalgia and/or because some games just look better on a CRT. At least, NES games tend to just look very stretchy on my HDTV.
Playing on a CRT TV also has the added bonus of being able to play Duck Hunt and other Zapper games.
SH should be deleted entirely; if people here start frothing at the mouth over shit like videogames then they obviously can't handle discussing stuff that actually matters in the real world

Valve really need to make some new games. Dota and TF2, their cash cows, don't interest me.

I still think they'd be the perfect fit for Warhammer 40K's Imperial Guard.
Gamed I'd want most from Valve would have to be a new Left 4 Dead. It's the only series where I've been truly interested in the characters and how varied they are.
I'd kind of like Day of Defeat Source 2. Been a while since we had some good WW2 shooters, aside from Rising Storm.

I don't know if this is even an unpopular opinion at this point, but it seems like valve has really gone down the shitter the last few years. They're seem to just.not give a fuck about their fans, their support service is non-existent, recent news makes it sound like they're not even working on new games, their image has gone from "cool company that rly loves their fans and customers very relatable people a breath of fresh air in this shitty environment" to just another EA or whatever. Only, EA still actually make games. they're lucky they have some masterpieces under their belt cos otherwise they'd probably be a pretty despised company despite how useful steam is. They're riding the coattails of decade old works at this point with nothing real to show now. (saying that they do have that console coming out at some point but I don't know enough to comment on it. Don't think there's much info anyway though, in typical valve style)
I only ever like playing console games when i'm with people. other than that, it just feels pointless and boring to me.

Sonic BOOM wasn't that bad of a game... I mean, it's the perfect birthday gift for a inner-city child.

My hometown had a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market open right next to a Rite-Aid, and since then the former's parking lot is always full while the latter only has maybe a few cars in it.
Zombies are starting to get a little boring

I don't get this. What makes it different from PC games that makes them "pointless"

Yeah but everyone will hold their breath for the next half life until the end of time.
Valve realizse it's better to have people wait instead of creating another duke nukem forever fiasco.
Origin doesn't go down every 10 goddamn minutes
Origin lets me download games while I'm already playing one
Origin actually has access to worthwhile customer support
Origin doesn't envelope my system's RAM
Honestly I've found only frustration with steam and valve as a whole the past couple years
Origin lets me download games while I'm already playing one
Steam lets you do this too, but you're right on every other point. Origin is, more often than not, a far more reliable and easier PC gaming service than Steam is.
Origin's client and support is miles ahead of steam. The selection isn't though. It's a 7-10 split there.
this zombie era is more hilarious than anything. That new show on A&E with the detective girl who is a zombie and eats brains of the victims to understand how they got murdered is the final straw for me. Fuck zombies.
I sometimes feel like the odd man out 'cause I have like zero issues with Steam, even when I was running on my old toaster of a computer, I barely noticed it was there
ive never understood why so many fpers have this fascination with top gear
ill admit ive never watched a full episode, but what ive seen of it is... alright? kinda funny, a bit slow paced, maybe something id watch if it was on tv but really, not really worth obsessing over imo
I think with Top Gear it just varies, in my case I grew up watching it and it became pretty important to me.
Zombies are starting to get a little boring
I'm just tired of the same old cookie cutter zombies. When they actually have unique designs and an interesting backstory, I still find them enjoyable. Like the Scourge from Warcraft, for example.

It has its moments, but I think the show is wicked boring more often than not. I'm really not a car guy.
But I do love driving and studying state routes and interstate highways to give me a better understanding on how to get from point A to point B without relying on a GPS.
[editline]24th March 2015[/editline]
I'd totally watch a show about those things instead.

Steam does let you download games while you're playing them, but it's disabled by default. If you go into steam (top left corner) -> settings -> downloads and tick Allow downloads while playing, then they won't stop when you play stuff.
And I don't get why people say Origin support is so amazing. I tried contacting them once because BF3 would not install completely (it would hang on 99%) and they said to delete my program files folder.
