Then again, speaking as a member of the LGBT community, I can already hear people saying that "gay pride" shouldn't be a thing with this logic, but I think it's fine.
I don't. There's no reason to be proud for being gay, it's like you shouldn't be proud that you're straight.
And this is coming from a member of the LGBT community too
Totally with Zukriuchen. I've always found people who say that they're proud of being from X place to be kind of short sighted and like you said, it's not something they can control.
Pride is usually associated with something you DID like "I'm proud of this movie I made" or something.
Then again, speaking as a member of the LGBT community, I can already hear people saying that "gay pride" shouldn't be a thing with this logic, but I think it's fine. Gays are unfortunately still being oppressed by people, and I think of gay pride as more or less taking a stand. Kind of like being proud to be in the military or something, you get the idea.
LGBT Pride is about existing and being happy despite how the majority of the world is against you, at least that's how I understand it. People who go "what about straight pride??" totally miss the point.
Like how I'm proud I haven't killed myself yet despite the horrid bouts of pain and loneliness I experience on a regular basis.
I don't. There's no reason to be proud for being gay, it's like you shouldn't be proud that you're straight.

There's nothing wrong with gay pride as long as you're not being weird about it. Take a trip to Provincetown, Massachusetts and you'll see exactly what I mean. You'll see posters for drag queen performances everywhere and buff men wearing nothing but small towels covering their genitals advertising shows where they take said towels off and dance on a stage for hours. And all of this is happening in a major tourist center on Cape Cod where people of all ages (yes, that means children) are being exposed to these kinds of things.
LGBT pride is a different story because its not a thing that formed on its own, its a counter movement against oppression. its not "im proud to be gay because being gay is rad", its "im proud that i can be happy about myself and fight for equality despite the widespread prejudice"
I don't like it when people take LGBT pride too far like lordgeorge said
when you go out in nothing but some leather straps and some nipple piercings you're going to send an awful message, I don't care if you have the mindset of "I'm proud of who I am", you're going to end up being the poster child for anti-whatever movements. You're giving people a reason to hate whatever you belong to.
Don't say I'm victim blaming or I'm somehow prune. Lets be real. If you asked people to think of a gay person, more than 50% of the time they're going to think of some weird guy in a gimpsuit or someone with an incredibly skimpy outfit. I'm going to go out of my way right now and say that they're ruining the LGBT image. Maybe it's just me but I want to send the message that people who are in LGBT groups are just like everyone else.
Take the mlp fandom for example, if people were not as open about it as they are currently now, no one would give a shit and say "arrrg i hate bronies!" and it would just be another creepy fandom no one cares about.
Another would be anime. A lot of people hate anime on here because of the creepy avatars on here of underage girls in skimpy outfits. if you ask facepunchers who are not into anime what they think of it, a good majority of people would include "pedophillia" in their response when that's just the darker side of it.
possibly unpopular opinion: i disagree, and i think its stupid to be proud of something you have absolutely no control over. to me saying "im proud to be american" is the same as saying "im proud of my jawline" or "im proud that i can eat a lot and still be skinny"
Just noticed I dumbed this, wanna point out that that must have been a touch screen accident.

this is more of a societal problem than something restricted to the lgbt community. ads with nudity and sexual themes are commonplace for example.

And I did, just wanted to explain.
People should be more proud of their own culture, and not strive to be some kind of universal human culture.
That being said, there is nothing wrong with multiculturalism. In fact, It's a good thing, provided it's a respectful meeting of different cultures rather then different cultures blending into one.
I don't necessarily disagree with you there, I think people have a right to be proud of and express their culture, and that multiculturalism should be a celebration of all the different cultures that exist and interact within a society. While some cultural crossovers are inevitable, I think they should be welcomed if they are good ideas (like putting curry in a pie), but more importantly we should just be glad that there are a diversity of cultures within most society and that we are free to experience them however we please, whether that means not at all or every day, complete merging of cultures isn't necessary in my opinion.
I think we should be proud that we're human, nothing else
I think we should be proud that we're human, nothing else
I'm not really that against having some pride for whatever you're a part of, what really matters more is the people making the claims of pride and their beliefs/intent. A bad example is often when people exclaim national pride, it's not always bad, but it's often used to further the interests of bigoted xenophobes. A good example would be the LGBT pride mentioned in this thread
There is nothing wrong with having some pride in your country imo. Just don't take it too far.
Microtransactions have not ruined TF2.
Salt and vinegar? Hate it.
How could you hate salt and vinegar chips? I love salt and vinegar chips! It's like eating glass, but delicious!
[editline]e[/editline]
on second thought I can see why someone might not like them
onions are one of the best pizza toppings
I'm starting to wonder if another video game crash like the one we had in the 80's would be a good thing, but I don't think that'll ever happen
we have so many developers that need to be told to fuck off, and so many studios doing some really sleezy shit. But if customers just bailed and stopped buying this crap outright maybe they would finally actually listen.
Steams refund policy is a joke and they don't care about fixing it.
Ubisoft is releasing unfinished games and shitting on its customers
many studios under EA are publishing some really awfully milked titles, and we're getting crap like simcity, and games being sold with really insane and agressive DLC
Developers are releasing games that are either ports or native titles that quite honestly run like piss, and are more concerned over marketing and preorder bonus's (Sometimes ones that even split the community slightly), than the game itself. They only care about money from preorders.
I want to see the game industry get a solid kick in to the balls. But I don't think it'll happen because so many users don't give a fuck and buy into extremely sleezy stuff, and then we get stuff like sim city or AC:M
Yeah, I'm a proud supporter of the LGBT community, but I see gay pride parades as kinda counter-productive. I saw a dude wearing a suit made of dildos once.
A suit
Literally made
Of dildos
I'm bisexual, but whenever someone finds out about it or I mention it, I can't even tell you how many times I've heard "you don't LOOK bisexual". Like damn, looks have nothing to do with it and it goes to show how much these parades affect the gay public image.
people who go "you don't look gay" and then talk about how gay rights should be a thing should piss off
I don't need to see people stereotyping gays and then reminding them that people treat them like shit, as if they don't already deal with it enough

One time I ate a packet of salt and vinegar chips and my mouth bled. It was a tasty bleed, but the only other food to make my mouth bleed after eating a packet was some Tasty Toobs.

Now that you mention it, the great crash was caused by videogame companies producing remakes after remakes of already existing titles for all the consoles imaginable and the general quality of the supposed big games being extremely disappointing
Sounds awfully familiar

I think you're missing the point. This kind of thing is not "Let's make people like us" it's more "do whatever, who gives a shit about people who bitch about us".
Whenever people say "oh but they're being weird" all I can think is they need to grow the fuck up, there are far more offensive things in the world than people wearing less clothes than you
Halo: Reach is the best halo game by a palpable margin.

My problem with it is that it really seems like it causes more harm. I remember a facepuncher here, I forget his name now, but nobody believed he was gay because he wasn't flamboyant enough when he looked like a normal guy. That's the kind of thing I'm talking about, it seems like it was needed when being gay was a radical new thing, but now in modern days, all it does is make people think you need to be flamboyant to be gay.
I know yeah, the only thing worse than onions are the Hobbit movies!
You have obviously never had a Green Pepper and Onion pizza. Fact is that its the only rype of pizza thats good hot and cold.
"If X had a gun, they could have defended themselves from Y" posts should be bannable imo, they're just so obvious, repetitive, and annoying. not 100% sure if this is unpopular, but w/e

now this i'll need to try the one i had (that i was eating as i made that original post) was beef + onions and it blew my friggin mind
Aren't those usually intended as jokes
The problem is that they're unoriginal and unfunny. Bad video game references were banned for the same reason.
