Byzantium is not and will never be, to me, the "Roman Empire"
Some car unpopular opinions:
-cars are a boring topic
-top gear is cool but overrated
-there's nothing wrong with "pussy cars" such as a prius like lmao to me a good car is one that gets me wherever and i won't have to pay a ton of money on gas. team ford focus represent
I'm kind of in the middle, I'm not some car nut that plans to do tons of modifications and drive the fastest thing I can get my hands on, but I'd still rather my car not feel horribly anemic.
I don't give two shits about cars, but I do like Top Gear quite a bit.

Why?
I do anything to have American internet service. Brazillian internet is the fucking worst. We have internet service that is worse that the one in Africa. FUCKING AFRICA!!
My mistake.
The northern half of the western hemisphere has the best internet QoS.
Why?
Because Romans are Latin and Chalcedonian and Byzzies are Greek and Orthodox, and that's only the surface as to why they are completely different.
[editline]10th April 2015[/editline]
It's like calling the HRE the Roman Empire just because they owned Rome at one point in time
Why?
After the division of the original empire Byzantium developed an historical course far too different than the western empire (it outlasted the latter by several centuries, for crying out loud)
Eustace sounds so different and I honestly don't like it.
That's rex from fucking toy story ahahhaha
Although I disagree with smoking tobacco, I think those "The Real Cost" adverts are stupid.
"There are over 7,000 chemicals inside a single cigarette. It's scary to know what tobacco companies are trying to hide from us."
What a load of crap.
"Chemicals" lol everything has chemicals.
Have you ever thought to yourself, "Why am I letting companies put these particles in my body? Why didn't I stick to the good old five classical elements like nature intended?"
Valve and Gaben are overrated. Sure they made great games but they aren't like gods of gaming.

Ah yes. Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and high-fructose corn syrup.

valve's actually quite shitty right now tbh
Because people love to hate the Xbox One...
The Xbox One lineup (both available and upcoming) actually looks slightly more interesting than what Playstation is offering.

Both consoles have 2 games I'm looking forward to, but the Xbone wont be getting its games for quite a while.
PS4 has Bloodborne and Deep Down (whenever that fucking thing is coming out).
Xbone has Quantum Break and Scalebound, which are both over a year away.
I'd say otherwise they're fairly even. Xbone has slightly better AAA games and PS4 has a ton of indie games. It's down to personal preference at that point.
Harley Quinn's original BTAS design was the best one. What Rocksteady did to her does not float my boat at all.

I still think that the guy who redesigned Harley played too much Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Nightcore is not a bloody music genre.
And if you want to class it as a genre, do not try and make it sound cooler by calling it "nightcore"
It is sped-up music with a chipmunk sound.
Stop this nonsense.
*stuff about religion*
Religion has some good social rules but it isolates people in their group and it's common that very religious people refuse to look deeper into things because it may questions their god. Using god as an answer for everything is just stupid. God can be the answer for everything but it is also the last answer. There are lots of complex things to explore before.
One of the biggest issues of religion is the strict rule to belive in god or go to hell.
Also I don't think it's a good idea to trust in a book that was probably mistranslated, considering all the translations it has gone trough.
"Jesus didn't like gays cos lel it said it in the bible"
Don't know about other countries but in the UK, that was actually ADDED by King Harold* because there were rumours at the time that said he was a homosexual. I don't want to be the person to say this but considering this is unpopular opinions, I am close to hating religion. Even though I am not religious myself, it's irritating that I know more about it than supposed "believers".
Also, I hate Benjamin Netanyahu and the fact other leaders don't condemn him for how evil he is. "No Palestine state". Fuck off.
*Think it was Harold
I don't like Deadpool
Facepunch is too hard on religion.
WoW is actually a decent MMO if you dedicate the time to it.
Nicolas Cage isn't that bad of an actor besides National Treasure.

Not an expert opinion or anything or even anything backed with a degree but I'll try my best to make a point of how I'd reason this
I've heard some people refer to the Normans as French, and Hastings in 1066 as the culmination of an effectively French invasion, both of which I'd consider bullshit given the Normans were settlers in France with a clear viking/scandinavian heritage. They didn't become French anymore than the Romans became Germannic when they settled land in Germany.
Now, when you look at how the Normans settled across the channel its easier to see why they easily became the English; firstly, there wasn't really a clearly defined (culturally, at least) "England" as such yet, just a multitude of warring kingdoms that had been conquered by the Saxons beforehand. The Normans forged the country over a long period of a time whilst remaining quite isolationist and passive. With time the mish-mash of cultures on the island gave way to English culture.
The Roman civilisation abandoned Rome as its Capital before the western empire even fell, instead Ravenna became the capital of the west. Multi-Culturalism over the empire meant that it was quite common for barbarians to form a considerable part of the Roman standing armies and increasingly progressive allowances for barbarians to live in the Empire both just go to show that being Roman meant very little beyond the fact that they were controlled by a civilisation that had come from Rome
Now, with Byzantium, it gets extra weird. The Byzantines fundamentally thought of themselves as Roman in heritage. Their laws had basis in Roman laws. Their flags had a Romanesque style to them with particularly the double headed eagle. To be frank, on the matter of losing Roman culture to Hellenic influence, the Roman civilisation itself already had great influence from the Greek civilisation and it was a pretty essential and expected tradition that members of the political elite knew the Greek language. As the non-contemporary source I'm reading right now points out, the Romans were already Hellenised early in the founding days of their Empire.
The name we give to the eastern Roman Empire after the fall of the west iirc was something invented by historians and the Byzantines even referred to themselves as Romans in the Greek language. Hell, at one point the civilisation history calls the Byzantines went west and reconquered a considerable swathe of the old West empire, including Rome.
I don't think its wrong for the most part to think of the Byzantine Empire as a continuation of the Roman Empire, but I think it is more appropriate to use their given name as the Byzantines because of the fact that the Romans are so strongly associated with ancient history.
I like Independence Day.
It should be legal to speed through protests that are intentionally blocking a freeway. If someone gets run over it's just them neglecting their safety
Wahh I can't bandwagon with this guys unpopular opinion on a thread about unpopular opinions better rate him dumb
