'Post unpopulair opinions' *post unpopulair opinion and get flamed* GG great thread
When are people going to actually learn that just because it's the unpopular opinions thread doesn't mean people aren't allowed to oppose someone's opinion?
tbh i agree with him. maybe you'll look like a shithead atm but you're not going to care and the time out with friends is honestly great fun.
I can agree with this to an extent, however it really depends where you're at. If you're out and about around bars, it should be expected that someone is going to act dumb, in which I'd totally get it. However, I'm not going to act like an ass in a residential area when people are trying to sleep.
When are people going to actually learn that just because it's the unpopular opinions thread doesn't mean people aren't allowed to oppose someone's opinion?
Calling someone an obnoxious asshole isn't opposing someone opinion
good thing I don't live in downtown Rockford then
Yo bro, you are so rad
Calling someone an obnoxious asshole isn't opposing someone opinion
Well, that is what you're advocating so I don't see the problem. You want people to not give a fuck and disregard others, so of course people are going to call you out for being obnoxious.
Calling someone an obnoxious asshole isn't opposing someone opinion
It was completely relevant to what you said though? Most people would consider someone doing what you said people should do an obnoxious asshole while they were doing it. There was no flaming about that.
Pirating is near universally bad and you shouldn't do it. There are a few exceptions, like if you live in a country where a game isn't allowed to be sold, or some shit like that, but in general, 's bad.
I would much rather people pirate from shitty companies than pay for bad business practices.
i suppose but at the same time, it's like, say if it's a game, if a game is apparently still worth playing despite all the flaws or shoddy business practices, then you should still pay for it, especially since there are likely a ton of employees who are perfectly great people and deserve to get paid for what they've worked on. I don't steal from 7/11 because I don't like the CEO or whatever. Like I said, I do believe in justifications, however. Instances where I think piracy is ok include: Being somewhere where the product you want is literally not available in any form, not being able to try out a game because they didn't release a demo (in which case I also think you should write in to complain about this), not being able to afford something at the moment but entirely being willing to put down money for it later (for instance some guy personally went up to Yacht Club at a convention and gave them 20 bucks since he had pirated Shovel Knight), something being extremely old (because I'm sure companies aren't exactly hinging on the sales of NES titles anymore) and other, similar, limiting circumstances. There are legit reasons to pirate something, but I think the majority of people just use bad excuses. [editline]e[/editline] at any rate it's not like I'm dropping friends because they're pirating shit I just think it's something you ought to not do
Opinions get more unpopular the more we are enraged by it. I've been trying to find a really unpopular opinion that would cause controversy ever since I discovered this thread. So far, it concerns beer, lolicon, and trans people.
Go with "relationships with underaged girls are disgusting" You'll cause a nuclear fusion on the Internet, trust me
Go with "relationships with underaged girls are disgusting" You'll cause a nuclear fusion on the Internet, trust me
I thought everyone thought that was a bit disgusting.
I think genocide is GREAT!
If Hitler won ww2 we'd be an incredibly futuristic society with wonderful morals and no degenerates!
Go with "relationships with underaged girls are disgusting" You'll cause a nuclear fusion on the Internet, trust me
I still remember arguing against someone in SH who said that two 15 year old girls could consent with full knowledge of possible consequences to sex with a 20-something guy in a position of power over them. Reddit is also a big fan of the "fucking kids is fine if they want it" line of thought.
Reddit is also a big fan of the "fucking kids is fine if they want it" line of thought.
Eh?
Eh?
There's a ton of pedophilia defense on there. Not the "They're people who need help" kind of defense, but the "They're like gay people in the 50's, some day they'll be accepted too and I can't wait for it!" kind of defense. These people actually think that raping children is not only unharmful, but comparable to two consenting men having sex. It's pretty disgusting.
Its pretty bannable. Just pm a mod
It's far too late, this was back when I joined I think.
"They're like gay people in the 50's, some day they'll be accepted too and I can't wait for it!"
I can't recall being gay or showing signs of homosexuality in public being a criminal offence back in the 50's
I can't recall being gay or showing signs of homosexuality in public being a criminal offence back in the 50's
In the UK, you could be chemically castrated for it. In the US, I think it was illegal, and even if it wasn't, being openly gay was social suicide. If you weren't murdered, you were a social pariah.

And of course, is actual grounds for execution in some countries.
The countries of common law were ... less advanced than I thought
Most of the anti-gay legislation ceased to be really seriously enforced in the 20th century. America had anti-gay laws in the late 20th century, but they weren't really enforced. The last time somebody actually tried to get somebody done for sodomy, the case quickly fell through. Also, in Britain, same-sex marriage is legal, and in most US states it is legal. It is not in Italy, so it's not a matter of common law.
Literally the only good thing to come out of the Star Wars prequels was the video games. Star Wars Episode I: Racer is fucking amazing and the Battlefront games were both perfect. Sucks that they took the prequels completely out of the new one, I liked playing as the CIS.
to expand upon that I loved the look of the whole "republic" universe in the prequels the production design team really pulled out all the stops on those movies (even if a lot of it was done in cgi), just a shame the script didn't support it
Only way a WW2 Call of Duty would work at this point would be in the form of a retrofuturistic alternate history.

GTA 5 isn't really that great of a PC port, it's decent, but not amazing or anything.
Only way a WW2 Call of Duty would work at this point would be in the form of a retrofuturistic alternate history.
I'd like to play a game where you play as a German soldier so you can see their point of view in the war. As for the alternate history, you could play Wolfenstein: The New Order for that.
GTA 5 isn't really that great of a PC port, it's decent, but not amazing or anything.
It made me question if their insistence that it wasn't a port was true, honestly. All the game breaking issues that some people have with it, you'd think that if it was being worked on before the last-gen versions were released, it would be flawless.
i suppose but at the same time, it's like, say if it's a game, if a game is apparently still worth playing despite all the flaws or shoddy business practices, then you should still pay for it, especially since there are likely a ton of employees who are perfectly great people and deserve to get paid for what they've worked on. [editline]e[/editline] at any rate it's not like I'm dropping friends because they're pirating shit I just think it's something you ought to not do
I think piracy is a bad thing and it's without a doubt harming the entertainment industry (which some people claim is completely false (????)) but it's definitely a "tragedy of the commons" kind of thing going on. If I were to pay $15 for every movie I watched so far this year, which I'd say is the average price of a blu-ray, I would have spent $525 in just 4 months (excluding the ones I saw in theaters, but that's not relevant). All that money lost would ruin me if I actually paid the distributors, but to the 10~ major distributors that would have gotten that movie more or less equally, $52 given to a multi-billion dollar company is literally pocket change to them. I, as the individual consumer, don't matter to them, so that's my justification for movie piracy. However the tragedy of the commons theory comes into play when it's millions of people who think just like I do. Suddenly instead of $52 wasted on them, it's over $52 million, and that totally does harm them. But if a couple people decide to be honest and pay legitimately, it's harming them thousands of times more than the movie companies are benefiting. It's so morally conflicting, but in the end it just makes more sense to pirate yourself than to try to fix a wrong that won't end up doing anything.
