that goes against what the bible says
You can have any belief you want; stop acting like as if personal beliefs and morals are black and white.
Many kinds of Catholics and Christians, my grandmother (as I already said) is a Catholic yet she is okay with gay people.
Christianity isn't an organization, Catholicism is.
They probably noticed that their site is being linked to by this site.
Dude, post tomorrow what happens, it should be funny how many people are gonna get pissed.
This is probably the dumbest argument I've ever heard for religion. First off, you're basically ignoring every part where it says that it's meant to be taken literally, you skip over the parts that you can't quite make into a moral story, and then you attribute morality to religion as if people can't have morals without it. However, none of that even matters, as the entire argument is a consequence of belief fallacy, meaning you're arguing that religion should be kept around, despite being oh well, LOGICALLY WRONG, on the grounds that it MAY have an larger positive impact on society then a negative one.
Dude... you gunna be okay bud?
that goes against what the bible says
and you would know.

i believe god is telling me to kill all infidels, (ones who wear black shoes).
Christianity isn't an organization, Catholicism is.
I'm pretty sure they're both just Religions; but I wouldn't know; I just follow Jesus and the 7 deadly sins as moral guidelines in my life.
You can have any belief you want; stop acting like as if personal beliefs and morals are black and white.
the bible says god is benevolent and omnipotent, it's like a fucking bullet point
[editline]07:55PM[/editline]
and you would know.
as if the bible is a big secret

So you rather me hate gays (meaning to hate my self :colbert:) and enslave my non-existent daughter and stone people to death who work on sundays?
Alright cool.

I just said I never read the bible and I refuse to.
I can't believe you two are having this argument.

Well, it's certainly easier then thinking right and wrong through for yourself.
I'm pretty sure they're both just Religions
it would be as if saying you are a Mormon
maybe you aren't as hate-filled and disgusting as the people in charge of Mormonism but you subscribe to not only the belief but also the Mormon church and thus you say you support it

No, but that's a moot point. You seem to have missed the second half of my post.
because calling yourself a catholic means that you support by name the idea that condoms are worse than AIDS.
You wish! No one completely agrees with any religion, except atheism, since it simply states religion is false. I'd much rather people use condoms than get AIDS.

Cold, as we all know, is not it's own entity, it is simply an absence of heat. Darkness, as we all know, is simply an absence of light. Evil, is simply, an absence of good.
Not that I'm Christian, I AM atheist, I just don't like this argument.

Hating gays is wrong: beliefs should be accepted, Christan don't agree with their actions, Christan don't enslave anyone and never will, I work on Sundays and i am not stoned, i do that during the week.

You obviously know what you're talking about.
Well, it's certainly easier then thinking right and wrong through for yourself.
Of course I think for my self, but there is nothing wrong with having some moral guidelines?
Why should I be an unforgiving overly lustful revenging gluttonous envious twat monkey?
Sounds like a douchebag to me

except Catholicism is not only a religion, it is also an organization that you support if you call yourself a catholic
that is if you went through all the hurdles and hoops that Catholics go through
if you don't support the catholic church, don't call yourself one

No you can't make this jump.
No, but that's a moot point. You seem to have missed the second half of my post.
tbh, I'm not taking any of you (in general) very seriously; beliefs are black and white and you guys obviously have some issues with it.

That kind of a retort is like comparing pessimism and optimism. I look at evil as the presence of evil, not the lack of good. Just like how I view the glass half full, not half empty.
It varies between people.
I believe what I want to believe and fuck all else. I'm all for tolerance n' shit, so whatever. I have friends from all walks of life and all types of religions and arguing with them about something as trivial as religion is just stupid.
Arguing about anything trivial is stupid. Debating, I understand, but saying "no ur wrong" doesn't really get anyone anywhere. :v:
My sister was talking about an "original play" that someone made when she was at high school, and actually saw acted out. The story went like:
There are two roommates in college. One is religious, being quite disgusted at her roommates Pink Floyd shirt. One day she has PROOF, signs from god!, that the apocalypse is gonna occur soon. They argue the usual "How can you not believe something you can't see?" stuff that you mostly hear in these discussions. But then, as they walk outside, the apocalypse DID happen! I guess god was real all along!
... :downs:
As if you ever read it.
i've read the bible, the torah, the qur'an, a whole shit-load of books
that's not really a strong argument (you've never read it)
you don't even know who I am, how can you say something like that
[editline]08:00PM[/editline]
arguing with them about something as trivial as religion is just stupid.
to be honest, how can you call yourself a human being if you've never pondered this question
without argument, no-one would know why they believe anything
Of course I think for my self, but there is nothing wrong with having some moral guidelines?

You're missing my point. You base your morals on other ones, instead of thinking them through. What is wrong with being unforgiving, lustful, or revengeful. As I remember, the bible had quite a bit of revenge in it.
I like the part where Jesus says stealing is okay if it's in his name.
I don't and do not wish to believe in a higher being who is sadistic, controls our lives, and lets evil run rampant to "test us".
Thats not how I think, I think of it as someone like a moderator or hell just a spectator.
