Live and let live. Who is anyone to judge someone else?
Someone was saying on there that Science can't explain how water was formed or how the sun shines.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance
It's an interesting read.
Thanks. Knowledge is power. :eng101:
Who is someone to judge someone else?
I think that it's fairly acceptable for one person who lives in the same universe, that obeys the same laws, to judge the other person who lives in the same universe, for ignoring the proven laws of the universe, and substituting them for their own conjures, that weren't laws or theories at all.
Dammit. I wrote a really long comment explaining nucleosynthesis, nuclear fusion, the very basics of evolution and the big bang to that Lena person who asked how water came about, just to have it all disappear in a cloud of smoke because some immature fools thought it's be cool to fuck over the discussion.
God fucking dammit.
Thanks. Knowledge is power. :eng101:
No problem.

Yes, except elves is a bad example.
Yes, except elves is a bad example.
How so?
I believe it is okay to disagree and express opinions but not to flaming levels or defacing other religions.
Of course it's okay to have disagreeing opinions. And I do love a nice respectable debate. But most often, people take it way too far.

The rules of logic aren't subject to opinion.
How so?
Because no one in their right mind believes in elves, while many people on the face of this earth believe in a religion of some kind, that dosen't make them (most of the time) ignorant.
I like this thread.
People are actually being civil.
But now that I've said that, someone's going to come in and fuck it all up. :<

Wow that's good. So elves are absolutely ridiculous, but god is plausible. There's absolutely no difference between them.
Those dumbass kids...they pray to their gods to help them pass that next test..or to actually have a chance as sex.

Why would you want to be sex. :I
If I believed in elves, wouldn't I be ignorant of reality?
Yes you would be ignorant of the reality accepted by the vast majority of people on the planet.
So you might be considered dumb. But really intelligence is relative. IF you believing in elves does not harm any other being then it's not really the business of anyone else.
What if Einstein or Stephen Hawkins admitted to having believed in elves? Would you call them stupid for that? even though they both accomplished so much? Frankly I don't think it matters that much so long as it wouldn't harm anyone.
I think that it's fairly acceptable for one person who lives in the same universe, that obeys the same laws, to judge the other person who lives in the same universe, for ignoring the proven laws of the universe, and substituting them for their own conjures, that weren't laws or theories at all.
It's still their own beliefs; they can justify it however they want, even if they are wrong, or even if it goes against literal principles that you stated. That's perfectly acceptable until it infringes onto another person's own personal beliefs. For example, your 'belief' in elves. I wouldn't judge your character and opinions as a whole for believing in the existence of elves. That would be ad hominem taken far too literally.
Let people believe what they want to believe in. Ignorance is bliss for some, but others, like you and me, prefer actual substance and facts on what governs us.

See, it just doesn't work.

God would want us to use those condoms to protect lives, he would want us to use those plants to feed millions, I guarantee you, the people who say that are not the same Religion as me. Hell you can't even say I have A religion. If the point of the stories in the Bible is to help other people, some people are just being idiots if they don't want to use those plants, or those condoms.
As for the Holy wars part, I completely agree with you. There is no reason we need to fight each other over something like Religion, we all need to get along and do something to this world for the better. Won't happen though, people will be people.

You seem to not understand that once people start believing like that, that there is no clear line between what is and isn't infringing on others beliefs.

Yeah, but they haven't, have they? You know why?
Because they aren't fucking stupid.

Call it ironic, I read that story(Asop's Grapes fable)When I went to a Catholic school.

God would want us to kill infidels and those who disagree with his teachings. :colbert:
Yes.
And Einstein could call you an idiot for not having thought of the theory of relativity.
God would want us to kill infidels and those who disagree with his teachings. :colbert:
I haven't seen Christians do it in a while, looks like they are on the right track.
Wow that's good. So elves are absolutely ridiculous, but god is plausible. There's absolutely no difference between them.
There is a complete difference between them, one is widely believed and the other is not.
I haven't seen Christians do it in a while, looks like they are on the right track.
And people usually have sex in public.
You seem to not understand that once people start believing like that, that there is no clear line between what is and isn't infringing on others beliefs.
I think we've put it forward very simply as is.
As long as it doesn't infringe on other people's rights, it's cool.
Well I'm sure Einstein would call you an idiot for not having thought of the theory of relativity.
The theory of relativity is science, and can be proven in many different ways. The existence of elves, cannot.
