What are you talking about?

Bad idea?
Any insight on how much this *might* take to fix if I do the work myself?
We tried looking up the parts on ebay and it looks like they'll cost around $200, but we could be wrong.
Its a bmw, if it needs fixing and you don't have deep pockets, run away.
In a normal situation take the price of the car and double it. Their you go, mostlikly that will be your repair costs.
In a situation were is does not run take the price of the car and multiply it by at least two.
If it was me and almost half the engine was dead I would change out the "3" fuel injectors wile he still owns it and see if she purr's back to life. and worry about gaskets later.
Okay, thanks guys!

find a car that isnt broken to hell. Rule of thumb with e38 7 series bimmers is to get one for 1500 bucks minimum with no rust and no v12. Or better yet get an old benz. Buy the best car you can afford but the price of that car screams money pit to me
someone on CL in my area is selling a 2002 honda prelude
[sp]for those who dont get it, the last model year of the prelude was 2001[/sp]

Some day I will park an NSX in my garage
[editline]8th July 2014[/editline]
Oh yes, it will be mine.
i wonder if NSX prices will stop rising as much over the next couple of years as people will be able to import RHD ones under the 25 year old classic car bullshit law (assuming RHD ones are plentiful)

RHD ones are actually the ones which are propping up the prices, we just haven't got them yet. However, our high mileage cars which are 30k starting will probably slightly go down as we can finally source high quality ones.

My dream was of an automatic black NSX though.

Looks to be an EM1 99-00 Si. EM1's go for like 5000-6000 usually so 3300 isn't absolutely out of the realm of possibility but no not really it's worth like 2500 maybe if it had at least most of the parts and the rear half wasn't totally fucked like that one is.

Its in a junkyard, if you can get a complete 2000 VW Passat for 500 bucks with no rust, manual trans, and a turbo, and in reasonable condition, then that junker is worth more as scrap if the parts to complete it aren't there, which they probably aren't seeing as that car is surrounded by incomplete shitheaps in what may as well be a pick'n pull. With all that being said, no one should pay more than scrap value for that damned shitcan.

This isn't 1990, this is a used car dominated market. My car has increased in value since I bought it and if it didn't have any of the added body damage I could sell it for exactly what I paid for it 4 years and 50k miles ago.
EM1's are pretty desired as far as Hondas go and they sit somewhere in between the Integra GSR and a Integra Type-R as far as inflated values through demand. No one wants a piece of shit 2000 VW Pissat, I know 3 people who have dumped thousands into those piles of shit in everything from everything brake, electronic/sensor and turbo related. They've all happily moved on to better vehicles including a Kia. All of them refuse to ever buy another VW as long as they live.
If you cut the front end off of that EM1 you could get $1600 for it as a front cut or something(no one actually cuts cars) for someone looking to B swap a EK. People will pay $350 for the seats and the black interior is worth probably like $300. True EM1 cars are actually getting fairly rare these days among heaps of clones. Depending on what that rear end damage is like and the rear bumper is just detached, front end parts run like $300 and if you factor in another $200 for misc and then paint it for $1000 provided you got it for $2500 you could put 4k in and get 5-5.5k as long as it's not a totaled title.
This is all assuming it's under like 180k miles and has a decently clean interior along with no serious chassis damage.
