This is all assuming it's under like 180k miles and has a decently clean interior along with no serious chassis damage.
Yeah I am aware of the market conditions but the car looks pretty shot. If it was just a missing front clip then I would be more understanding. But the way the ad is written is indicative of something shady and dumb going wrong. Its honestly something pass worthy. Now as far as that 500 buck Passit goes, my friend is buying it. Its not a horrible car, but it is wired as well as a Yugo GV, which I told him about. The Comfort Control Module is halfway fried because of a bad placement design(its under the drivers side carpet where it can get soaked by wet feet). At least its worth that money in scrap, in fact he can make money off of it in numerous ways as long as he doesn't invest too much.

Not bad, the trans probably needs more fluid. Driving on low fluid can kill the clutch packs and bands by overheating them. Rebuild kits cost around $200, but those cars are hard to kill, DP hasn't ruined his yet so...

On what base would you be driving this? "Ride it until it breaks apart"?
Given the prices asked for these things in Germany, I wouldn't even expect it to be able to leave that yard on its own power.
good first car?

Your right it would have a hard time leaving the yard under it's own power WILE PULLING THE HOUSE WITH IT.
Hell bonus points to him if he buys it and dosent want it I'll just drive up their and give him 500$ and part it out and stuff it all in my trailer.

Sure, the engine is indestructible. But the rest? You said yourself you'd part it out. I'm not criticizing or anything, I'm just asking what he'd intend to use it for.
Because if someone wants 900 USD for a classic Benz, even though it's about the lowliest there is, he probably doesn't think it's worth restoring.
Or maybe I'm wrong and classic Benzes just cost 5 times as much in Germany :(

Yes I intend to part it out because 1 I do not own a car hauler trailer and 2 I need extrea parts for my 220d damnit.
I'd probably buy it and hope the tranny isn't too fucked, flush it, and fix the doors and cruise around like a middle aged italian man

You're not wrong, the costs are about the same unless if you live in Denmark or Scandinavia. A nice unrestored W114-115 will run for 4-6k USD, but unless if you get an unmolested car in condition 1 or 2, you will never be able to sell the car for what you paid for it. So most people just run them into the ground because they are Toyota Camry reliable if you don't mind their quirks, or when they aren't draining batteries.
Thanks for bearing with me there, guys  Also, kudos for your taste in cars.
nah its like an hour from me towards binghamton
i took my road test there and my grandfather went to college there
So I'm a bit in love with this:

If you can't rebuild an engine I wouldn't even think of buying a 944 I heard they are awfully unreliable and parts are expensive
