I was so excited to find a Supra for 17k that wasn't riced out at all.
Then I saw that it was an automatic.
Not so bad as an automatic if you put an asslord amount of power into it, never miss a shift and never drop boost.
Plus, if you can afford to drop 17 cash down, you might as well just spend another few in an mt swap
I know we have some Crown Vic fans/owners here, think you guys may like this (aside from the rims, possibly);

CB with 210k miles with an automatic isn't worth 3700, more like half that lol. You could get a clean Integra/Prelude for that money easy.
I want those headlights

Thank you honda for forcing me to remove my entire front end to replace the headlight housing.

not around here
I got an Accord just like that when I sold my civic. The buyer gave it to me for free. It had 370,000 miles on it and was wrecked twice. It had some ugly paint and one of the strut tower mounts was rusted through so it didn't really sit down very well...
It started, ran, and was a 5 speed (or was it 4?) anyway it was manual and had some typical highschool junk all over it like random tweeters hanging everywhere, speakers sitting in the back seat... trunk carpet was covered in oil - kinda weird.
As for me, I already had two cars, so I put it up for sale, put a piece of paper over the license plate that said $500 and let it sit in my driveway. Eventually someone offered me $200 and "$300 worth of weed" to which I declined. He gave me $200 and 4 rims for a 4 lug car that were gold. They looked nice, but I wasn't going to use them. I said deal. I sold the rims on craigslist for $200 so I was fine with it. Some guy came by with one of those old school civic hatchbacks that looks like a small van. He swapped a D16y8 in it. Very neat and the whole car looked stock and normal.
The guy who bought it spray bombed the whole accord flat black (including wheels) and put it on the side of the road with a sign that said "$1,000" and there it sat for a year till I moved.
Point being - I don't think that car is worth that much either.

A Honda will cost you more than a Mercedes around here, that is one of the big reasons I drive the latter and not the former. People overvalue the shit out of anything Honda, and people around here are stupid enough to pay that price.
For $1600 bucks:

For $850:

There is a whole lot more car for your money out there than someones Honda crapcan. Don't buy someone elses project, buy a car you want, and then make it your own. Hondas are anything but cheap in this day and age because people are rather nearsighted when it comes to the definition of reliability, so the correlate it to Japanese tin can cars. I'm not saying buy a Mercedes, but at least those have power everything, V8s, diesels, and even manual transmissions from time to time, they're big and they move enough that even I've smoked a couple Hondabro Civics in drags between the lights with my more plebeian model. Plus with a Honda, why the fuck would you want an automatic?
not around here
Leave shitty rust salt land, here we have a major Honda tax on top of this because Oregon doesn't have emissions or inspections and we really love cheap Hondas or trucks here.

I wasn't aware r34s were legal in the US. Is there some special license you can import them under, or is that one going to be impounded?
That last one looks like Banned's MR2, all monster truck-y :v:
I wasn't aware r34s were legal in the US. Is there some special license you can import them under, or is that one going to be impounded?
No R34's have a legitimate bond releases and are road legal under show and display, period. There is some R33's that were imported by Motorex and have been grandfathered in when the NHTSA was forgiving and tried to work with enthusiasts who organized and could drown them in enough cash. All of those cars are illegal, most likely imported by just titling in Florida and forged paperwork.
The R32 GT-R Nismo is approved under Show and Display but they are becoming legal now.
One of the guys who was part of Motorex before the disaster now runs International Vehicle Importers, they're some of the most knowledgeable in anything import related.

those skylines are a bad idea to buy unless you have the connections to keep them. All the major nissan boards have warnings about buying them.
There is no such thing as connections to keep them, more like the land and low profile to hide them.. If you try to transfer those titles so many red flags will pop up that if you do anything short of forge all of that too it'll be crushed before you can even find a comfortable seat position..
The craigslist adds are probably phishers or something anyways.
I think someone needs to go to Mercedes and get them to lobby for these cars back. There's no reason in the world they wouldn't pass "smog" and don't hurt a damn thing. Mercedes just didn't want any competition so they pulled some bullshit. I'm surprised it hasn't been overturned yet anyway.

...What? Mercedes?
Don't you mean Nissan?
No, mercedes is responsible for the 25 year law.
I did not know that.
Good thing I never liked Mercedes to begin with.
No, mercedes is responsible for the 25 year law.
They're responsible for it because their higher output Euro spec cars such as 500SECs and 450SEL 6.9s were being grey market imported in greater quantities than they could sell their US spec models out of the dealerships, and for much less money than the US spec models. Mercedes was loosing a lot of money because of this, so they lobbied for the 25 year law to stop the high output grey market cars from flooding in.
They had this issue starting in the mid 60s when California introduced it's smog laws. They had to jack up prices to add emissions controls, and prices were up to the point that it was cheaper to buy a car in Germany, ship it to America, and halfass Americanize it, plus these cars often had an extra 20-50 HP to boot. To try and stop it initially, Mercedes dealers were told to refuse any Euro spec or suspected grey market car (my boss's son went through the whole grey market process with a 1971 280S sedan and he was refused service at all dealerships and could not offload the car until his father bought it from him in 1976). But of course that didn't work, so Mercedes turned to the US government as it was loosing major money, but the damage was done. The grey market crisis and Mercedes cost intensive production methods put the company in some trouble to seek a merger with the worlds most profitable car manufacturer of the 1990s- Chrysler...

There was documentation on how to do it but it was really hard and involved knowing a dmv employee and a mechanic who would both certify them as modified s chassis or a rebuilt hot rod title or something like that. You needed the mechanic to sign off saying that the car was safe and a dmv employee that wouldn't red flag you. If a cop got you though you were fucked. There was a company that made like 50 skylines road legal this way and they all got raided and seized a few years back. These are probably ones that were better hidden.
[editline]8th December 2014[/editline]
The 25 year law is p stupid too considering that if you're importin such a vehicle, you obviously aren't concerend about it not meeting US safety checks etc.
I believe the main reason nowadays is the rhd and te fact that jspec and euro spec cars filter different emissions things. Which is redonk because mufflers and cats are cheap shit. Law should only apply to cars that are available locally tbh.

Well.we wouldn't have to do this if more high end cars were available in the us, instead of our 3 main ones and some watered down jap cars.
Mercedes brought it on themselves. They tried peddling us shit, and no one would buy it.
Pigeon it's got nothing to do with "emissions" whatsoever. If that were the case, a H2 would be illegal and a Skyline would be just fine.
They already make it near impossible to import a car now anyway - even if you want to move a car from one state to another. They can repeal this 25 year rule, and let it be. Those with enough money to import - will import, and as long as the car blows what it is supposed to smog, then it must pass. Japan is a small place, I guarantee they have equipment that makes their cars less dirty to the air, otherwise their sky would be orange.
But I guarantee then Nissan wouldn't be able to sell you their Infinity G-whatever which is supposed to be the skyline (I think) and they wouldn't like that very much - so likely all car companies will want to leave it at the law there is now.
