Pigeon it's got nothing to do with "emissions" whatsoever. If that were the case, a H2 would be illegal and a Skyline would be just fine.
There's also the safety testing; every car sold in the US must be crash-tested, and I believe it must be crash tested in the US. Even Panoz had to crash-test their "new" Esperante roadster which has a production run of like 50 cars.

Dodge Neon got some of the worst safety ratings of all time, but still it sold... so it would seem regardless of the results, as long as the safety factor is "identified" it's good to go. Just crash one of your cars into a wall and if all the dummy occupants have severed heads - oh well.

TUV regulations are just about as strict as NHTSA. And I'm sure the Dodge Intrepid was just as bad as the Neon. The importation law isn't a matter of overall safety, its a law devised to protect car manufacturers from themselves and others when they could do that themselves by not peddling us shit.

That Miata looks like a basket case at best. Also guy couldn't figure out if they were the 2nd or 3rd owner. Also being scratched and dented to shit - I guarantee there's rust, even though it says there's none. The front fascia missing a huge chunk, the front fender bashed in, the door with a giant crease in it, and the interior looks like a lion was set loose in the car - is all listed as "reasonable". "car was not in an accident, just spacial misjudgement" where the owner says they hit a concrete pole while "parking" which somehow gouged the entire side of the car AND dented the driver's side of the car. You're really asking for it if you go buy that...

JDM SONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN 1997 Integra - $7,000 Just a few features: -salvage title -dildo shift knob -s2000 seats -air fresheners http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/4811680105.html
Ughhh, posting a picture of you smashing your front lip in an ad to sell your car, marketing genius.
No JDM front, 98-01 bumpers, horribly painted half assed not masking off the grill, fake oil cooler, ebay knockoff parts galore, rear end damage, front end damage, LS with a stock JDM GSR full swap with a egay XTD clutch and a sick mad tune. 10/10, owner doesn't wrench on it and has spent probably 15k on a ruined car. [editline]19th December 2014[/editline] The seats, swap, RHD cut, 98-01 bumpers and suspension are roughly 5-6k in parts, not to mention all of that is 5k in labor at a shitty "tuner" shop plus body work and a paint job which are very poor though. Car is absolutely worthless if the RHD conversion is a hack job too.
I dont believe the car was posted to show how much money it was worth... I think the op believed it to be a joke as well. I think the oil cooler is real - I just think it is a pretend intercooler, and I have no idea why you'd put an oil cooler outside the car. That carbon fiber rear deck lid is worth $7k on it's own. That's some awesome weight reduction right there. Also if you read the ad, he's a total asshole. He's going to charge you $7,000 and NOT INCLUDE THE OIL COOLER. He's keeping it for himself. What a lying piece of jerky. I'm writing my lawyer right now. I don't care how many new TIERS it has, how many PUCKS are in the clutch, or how awesome a VOLT GAGE is. I Want the damn oil cooler.
I dont believe the car was posted to show how much money it was worth... I think the op believed it to be a joke as well.
Yeah it is a joke, the fact that cars like that even exist is stupid. The OPs post was clearly along the lines of 'post amusing used car finds'. Anyway, that car is a laughable shitheap, with a shifter that can be used to smash it to bits.

I'd love to pick up a car like that for a couple grand because the owner can't sell it and part it out. :v: Someone would probably pay decent money for the RHD converted shell stripped down.

Now a bone stock one that I can do whatever I want with, that's a different story...
