ok sorry i didn't know the whole story
its based on an album, a remix album, and some LARP
woah i can allready see the genius

killer insult bro
No, it's based on a future paranoid America with a truly fucked Government and a paranormal possibly apocalyptic presence.
[editline]09:37PM[/editline]
And LARP =/= ARG. There is no roleplaying involved nor group meets. It's a multiple-media interactive story.

yeah its the same totalitarian shit thats been done 500 times before, you said yourself "1984"

it was a comparison
It really isn't. Year Zero is a very very fleshed out and detailed world, the government isn't as hardcore as it is in 1984 - it's hard to explain, it is really good though.
[editline]10:11PM[/editline]
And that's not really a comparison.

LARP =/= ARG in any shape or form
and "some ARG*" (*=corrected) is very vague, it's a gigantic story background for the album, a lot of plot. of course that's not at all possible in your own little world.
you don't have to be such a cunt, you know.
it was a comparison
what a fascinating use of the term comparison
are you familiar with the word comparison? among other things, i'd assume you're not familiar with the term.
I'm not sure if a YZ TV series will have the same impact now as it would have back in 2007. It seems like a very time-and-place sort of concept that you can almost believe will happen at that time, but now I'm not so sure if it will hit the same mark it could have during the Bush administration. That and one of the key points in YZ happening was the "first woman president" being impeached, so it loses a bit of accuracy as well.
But then again, 1984 is still a very important and relevant book now in 2010, so what do I know?
I never felt that feeling of immersion due to the year like you did.

intended insult would fit better than comparison
But for an insult to be insulting, it would need to make sense. That was just really stupid sounding
that is awesomesauce

not really, just too complicated for you~
Nope .pxr
yeah it's also science fiction so literally none of that matters
sorry for trying to discuss something that isn't people bitching about LARPing
yeah it's also science fiction so literally none of that matters
Of course it matters.
Science fiction is all about the social commentary, and unfortunately the themes and ideas in Year Zero have already been done to death, and have very little relevance in 2011. This series almost seems undeserved. This isn't 1984, this is a mediocre album made by Trent Reznor about a tired concept.
Obviously it isn't if HBO and BBC believe it to be worth a show. The album, while received well was not very popular.
There is more to it than a corrupt government.
yeah i don't think there's been a terrible series on HBO. even sex and the city, it's clearly not for straight men, but that doesn't mean it's terrible, look at how many awards and viewers it has.
[editline]06:11PM[/editline]
although that one show that comes on late at night - real sex - that's just uncomfortable
No coincidence
