it's legalized, not decriminalized more states need to legalize
decriminalisation isn't the solution to stop drug blackmarket let the states make weed shops instead of meeting a dealer in the streets
I seriously hope this has a fucking massive snowball effect. A man can dream.
I seriously hope this has a fucking massive snowball effect. A man can dream.
It's gonna be a massive snowball ;-). The US are very influent in the world and I bet Europe is the next on the list to legalize weed.

I believe it's only for Colorado citizens. If you're from another state and go in there and smoke Colorado is bound by the constitution to honor your states' laws; which, depending on where you live, would make it illegal for you to smoke there.
The main reason weed is still illegal in Canada is because your stupid fucking republican government threatened for years to embargo us if we did.
it's my understanding they don't give a fuck so much it might as well be legal.
it's my understanding they don't give a fuck so much it might as well be legal.
In BC the police almost always tolerate personal use if it's not disturbing anyone, if you're in public they may ask you to leave (happened to me a couple times). If you look obviously underage or you're with underage people then they'll probably confiscate your shit. But the cops do still go after big dealers and growers, about once every 2 years a dealer i know of or someone else knows gets busted.
Im moving to Washington

Oh god I hope it catches up fast, it would get socially acceptable to smoke. It just opens so many possibilities since we dont have to hide and do it secretly anymore.
As someone in a red state I'm surprised that Arkansas almost passed medical. I guess there's hope for the whole country. All we need now is some sweet sweet CO and WA data. Hmmm then again my governor vowed against weed. Anyone tell me how CO and WA governors responded? These are exciting times.
Its going to take some time for other states to consider legalization even after this huge push forward. It worked out in Colorado and Washington because they had a really solid system already in place. Oregon however had a very poorly written one and in the end wasn't ready. Maybe in the next 5+ years we will see another push from other states toward legalization, Cali will be sooner rather than later.

seriously... two states legalize in the same vote? next year or the coming couple of years is going to be a giant fuckoff 420 bulldozer plowing through america
I don't think so man, now that the door way has been opened I think that this will change things at a rather quicker pace than you have in mind.
Well how fast do you think it will happen? People say that because weed is legalized, children will turn into heroin addicts, or there will be much more crime. I think the other states will have to monitor and see what happens with Colorado and Washington for some time, and let the questions answer themselves before following suit.

Maybe I'm being a negative nancy but red states are going to be a big battle. I honestly don't know how the state governments will react if CO and WA start making (and saving) money. People here are staunch moralists. "Weed is bad because it puts you in prison and also leads to harder drugs therefore I will keep it illegal" - Mary Fallin.
I can see conservative states not budging at all on this. What are super conservative republican politicians going to do, admit they were wrong and pass the law? Ha. They are going to turn it into a moral issue like abortion/gay rights/etc and not budge while the other states get with it. If anything I see more liberal states legalizing then federal allowing states to choose what stance they want on it and that will be about it for a few decades. Feds won't be allowed to force a state to legalize marijuana so I can totally see conservative states making it illegal in their respective state and liberal ones setting up systems to legalize.

Nope, but when that would ever be im not quite sure. I think within 4 years we will have 25+ states either legalized or at least tried which will be huge progress none the less and even more medical states.

I wonder whether Vegas will make it legal, because that would make it an ultimate place.

man fuck going somewhere just because weed is legal Never make life decisions based soley on recreational drugs, its silly
man fuck going somewhere just because weed is legal Never make life decisions based soley on recreational drugs, its silly
But Colorado and Washington are nice places to live in... and smoke pot.
i wouldnt mind moving to a place in either state if it has a good school system, economy, jobs, etc. Being able to smoke weed is on the bottom of that list. Instead of moving to a state that has it legalized, how about you help out the cause in your own state and get them to legalize it to, benefit everyone.
