Also it's much more fun to be shooting at a moving object than it is a paper target. Sure, airsoft guns are nothing more than glorified plastic pushers, but that's not to say that pushing plastic isn't enjoyable.
I already knew lul. Petty arguments are obvious btw. Try furries
Hell no, furries are so fucked up that I don't want to go anywhere near them.
Same
Stop with the petty arguing please. I know this is the internet, but there's no reason to resort to personal attacks over a choice of hobby. The argument of paintball versus airsoft has been around since the beginning of modern combat sports, but it's an entirely illogical one. The only similarity between paintball and airsoft is the fact that both revolve entirely around the use of nonlethal projectile weapons. Paintball tends to focus more on fast-paced "Rambo-like" styles of play, while airsoft lends itself to a more tactical game. It's like comparing Halo to SOCOM. Both are fun games in their own right, but they're completely different. As for me, I prefer airsoft. Airsoft strives for realism in every aspect, which appeals to me. The massive array of realistic weaponry and combat technology is very impressive. While airsoft can never be entirely realistic without first becoming lethal, it straddles the line between game and combat. If you were to pick almost any real-world weapon platform (including: assault rifles, pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, mortars, light support weapons, heavy machine guns, and hand grenades), there's a very good chance that an airsoft counterpart meant to emulate its performance in terms of accuracy, rate of fire, outward appearance, and weight exists on the market. There is also a huge array of accessories, including ACOG scopes, aimdots, holographic crosshairs, telescopic scopes, grenade launchers, foregrips, flashlights, lasers, and more that can be added on afterwords to increase the aesthetics, maneuverability, and general feel of the weapon you chose. On top of that, the guns are almost entirely modifiable internally, allowing you to customize each weapon to meet your performance needs. Airsoft loadouts can be shockingly realistic too. Realistic to the point where if you were to replace your airsoft rifle with an actual rifle, you'd be combat-ready. Many private security agencies, and even some police and military units use airsoft for training their members in tactics and combat scenarios. That's why I love airsoft. If it's not for you, then hey, more power to you man. I'm not going to judge you based on whether or not you enjoy combat sports.
ironically, many people use High caps. Kind of defeats realism
As for the home defense argument, it's completely pointless. I agree that every home should have at least one firearm, but there's nothing stating that you can't spend your free money on a hobby you find enjoyable. Most working adults can afford to fund their hobbies AND meet their responsibilities as homeowners.
Combat sports are awesome, all I ever said is that many of the people tend to be assholes. And high-caps are sweet. I prefer midcaps, though, no rattling or feed issues.
ironically, many people use High caps. Kind of defeats realism
Seriously? Most of the people I've talked to on airsoft forums and such hate hicaps for that very reason. Plus, those things rattle like hell.
Combat sports are awesome, all I ever said is that many of the people tend to be assholes. And high-caps are sweet. I prefer midcaps, though, no rattling or feed issues.
I prefer Real caps because I am an faggit :x
the people I airsoft with only use hicaps as backups or use them until they can afford large quantities of midcaps
the people I airsoft with only use hicaps as backups or use them until they can afford large quantities of midcaps
That was my issue. I always used my high cap with the intention of replacing it with five or six low capacity mags down the road, but I never got around to it and now I don't really play. Though I did take my gun out and shoot some targets for the first time in a couple months yesterday.
just load in the real life amount into the high cap and wind it.
just load in the real life amount into the high cap and wind it.
Most people don't have a whole bunch of hicaps. Mid and real-caps are pretty cheap, I bought a box of M4 midcaps a year ago for like $50.
Real guns are better, and always will be. That's not the point though. I was just wondering why you'd spend thousands of dollars on guns that shoot plastic BB's.
Let's put it this way. You can't shoot at each other with real guns. It's like driving gokarts, they aren't cars, but they serve the same purpose, which is racing.
Need more pictures, and less bitching and moaning. It's all in fun and good conscience.
Real guns are better, and always will be. That's not the point though. I was just wondering why you'd spend thousands of dollars on guns that shoot plastic BB's.
It's a sport/hobby, it's fun, it gives you an adrealine rush, and it's got guns.
It's a sport/hobby, it's fun, it gives you an adrealine rush, and it's got guns.
Agreed. By JDK's logic, video games are next to airsoft in inadequacy because they're not real guns.
Real guns are better, and always will be. That's not the point though. I was just wondering why you'd spend thousands of dollars on guns that shoot plastic BB's.
Have fun shooting your friends with real bullets.

I posted this months ago in the airsoft forum, but here are my experiences in an airsoft scenario: Around two weeks ago I came back from a large airsoft scenario which lasted for 24 hours straight. The setting was US (where I played) versus talebans. We left to the game area, which was 150km away from our town, at 5 AM. We arrived at around 7:30. Game started at 11 AM and ended the following day at the same time. We were all divided into two companies, each consisting of two squads (total of 4). I personally was in squad #2 together with my friends. There were many hilarious moments, like a taleban prisoner who wasn't checked for weapons picking up a small pistol from his pocket while being transported to our base with a van by squad #1, then shooting the driver in the head + the three guards who were too surprised to do anything. And after that running away towards the taleban's base while shouting ALLAAAAH. We were waiting for the transport at our base, but it was way late so we called them with our radios. We almost died laughing when we heard what happened. And in a VIP escort operation, just when we had left the checkpoint, a lone terrorist with a huge fake beard and a turban (hghgh) ambushed us by jumping out of a bush 10 meters away shouting "ALALALALALALA" (with a cheesy arabic accent ofcourse) and opening fire with his AK, wounding two of our squad (I managed to drag the other to safety and bandadge him up) and killing our squad leader. Interrogating prisoners was fun aswell, when we got them, we showed them pages of a porn magazine and told them that we'd show more if they told us of their plans. One decided to inform us that he was a peaceful rice grower from the deepest mountains of Afghanistan, had nothing to do with the taleban and the 8 full M14 magazines he was carrying were just for his friend's hunting rifle. Right. My squad also patrolled the area around the enemy base at night. We weren't supposed to, it was our turn to rest. But squad #3 which was supposed to go on the patrol was caught in an ambush on the way there and they were completely destroyed so we were sent instead (we rested afterwards). It was pretty scary to see a patrol of 10+ enemies walking 5 meters from us (pitch dark, so they didn't notice us), we were only a force of 5-6. And we had orders not to fire unless spotted, so we let them pass. After the patrol we rested a bit, and the entire US side was ordered to ambush the taleban's tent camp. We went around them, waited for the signal to attack them in the flank while squads 1, 3 and 4 attacked from the front. Then we heard shooting and ran like hell into their flank, and took cover at their tents. I heard talking from inside the tent where all the "dead" talebans were, and asked through the tent cloth whether I could buy some kebab after the battle. They answered "yes, yes you can, price 5 camels". I didn't talk much after that :P We were constantly pinned down by a taleban fire support (probably an RPK) which was firing hundreds of BBs upon the tent me and my buddy were hiding behind at. Most others were already down, and we were panicking. No friendlies to be seen, except for the talebans in front of us shooting at the tent trying to hit us. Then after a while we saw the "cavarly" coming to help us, every single US member who got hit previously had finally gotten to the respawn and they came towards us with their gun's lights finding and shooting every single enemy. After this battle we carried a couple of RPGs stolen from their camp into our van and returned to base. My god did it feel good to see them arrive to save our asses, it was like from a movie. There was also the giant night operation, grand pilot resque, where over 35 people of our US side assaulted a hill in the middle of a large open area which had 20+ enemies on it holding our "pilot" as a hostage. It looked fucking awesome when half of our guys had powerful lights on their guns, the air was filled with BBs flying through these large streams of light. So much shooting going on that you coudln't distinguish invidual shots. Just a constant, continuous rattling of airsoft fire all around you, banded together with people calling for medic, the terrorists shouting hilarious stuff like "I'm going to turn you into kebab you american scum" (and some random american answering "go back farming potatoes in your cave, taleban") and other sorts of interesting things. I got hit in the helmet with a loud clang (probably a sniper) and became wounded. My friend patched me up with a bandadge found from my pocket :). After that I rose up a bit to continue assaulting. Then, one of squad #4's members aimed his light at me (to see if I was an enemy or not), completely exposing me in what basically is a spotlight, in the middle of this huge open area and getting most of the enemy team aiming at me. A hail of BBs struck my chest from around 40-50 meters away and I went to respawn. One of my squad members (third from right in pic) accidentally shot the pilot D: Overall, it was the best airsoft game I've ever attended. Squad #2, never forget. (Taken at around 1 AM. I'm the leftmost dude, plus our squad leader is missing as he's taking the pic. Oh, and it was snowing so the white circles are snow.) Also not racist. The "racism" in our game was purely for humour and none of us were serious at all. Does anyone know if they make A Airsoft Dragunov SVD or SVU? Because I want a Sniper rifle that will go with my commie-ish outfit idea I have
I lol'd very hard at the porn magazine interrogation. Sounds like something our guys in Guantanamo should try.
DoomMarine made me laugh my ass off this whole thread.
Some rich guy should definitely buy 6 Echo 1 Miniguns and have them melded together so it has a RoF of tens of thousands. Put it on an ATV and attack a base. Sextuple Vulcan Airsoft Minigun ;v
Does anyone know if they make A Airsoft Dragunov SVD or SVU? Because I want a Sniper rifle that will go with my commie-ish outfit idea I have
Yes they do, http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=Airsoft+SVD&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=Q5TCSY_4JOTGjAfC94iGCw&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title Most of them are UK I think but they might ship to the US.
Man, I would love to go Airsofting, but as far as I know, there are no places to go in the Shetland Islands, there's no one that I know that does Airsoft, and I'm skint (really) and can't afford any of the gear, let alone the guns. But I saw a pistol for £60 I think.
