They're also fun. Driving a car that lifts the front tires and snaps your neck is fun but that doesn't mean zipping around like a fucking cheetah or whatever isn't. I've had tons of fun in mine...Power is fun but it's not everything.
I've just been and bought my first car today, managed to haggle the dealer down a few hundred quid
Car in question.

Sexy as fuck. Wanna trade with my 2003 Lancer? Left hand drive is better in the UK because I said so.

Cool first car. I've noticed loads of 17-18 year olds driving relatively new cars recently. What happened to new drivers rolling around in a <£1000 banger?
maybe he isnt 17-18? who knows
Well he did say it was only a few hundred quid. Seems like a great deal, i like the Fiat Punto.

he managed to lower the price by a few hundered, not down to a few hundered

You can see the price in the window, £459-
Snip

True, but it still stands that a lot of younger drivers seem to be rolling round in pretty nice first cars.

Some dealers have insurance deals on newer cars. Someone in my college course got a new Citroen C1 because the insurance was like £2.5k at 17
[editline]25th September 2011[/editline]
and he already crashed it
[editline]25th September 2011[/editline]
and it got dealt through his insurance company
Well to fill in a few questions, im 24 i left my driving till late due to university and other commitments and so forth and i've been working my ass off to save up for a car since like 21, and the car was listed as 4395 but i managed to get it for 4 grand. hope that helps.
i was going to start off with a 1 grand old banger but i've took a job that requires a fair bit of travel daily so i bought something more reliable.
i also agree i've seen lots of people with they're first cars new cars generally it comes down to finance for a lot of them as long as a you have a full time job you can get finance really easily in the UK it seems, not to mention they go on they're parents insurance too.
I'm glad I waited until I was 19 to drive, My insurance is nothing compared to what others a bit younger than me pay and I drive a car with a 2 Litre Turbo Diesel Engine.
That is an excellent first car, Source. :)

That is exceptionally true here, there are a good few of my friends that run around in cars worth at least 16 grand from high school.
16 grand actually isn't bad. It's not a junker, sure, but it's pretty much bottom end for a new car from the dealership. And it's nothing compared to 3 kids i used to hang out with that all drove different color gt500 K/R's.

How they got them idk (I think they only made like 1,000 of that year? Don't care enough to research) but their daddies were rich as fuck so it didn't surprise me too much. It is still an $80k+ car though.
I mean like new lancers, mustangs, F150s, some toyotas, some hondas and Rams.
One dude had a Porsche 944 turbo, the other had a 98 240sx with the works.
The 240sx was :v:

It looks like i had a case of bad reading.
The funny part was the kids with the nice cars were the worse drivers. I laughed a couple of times when they tried to cut me off and I just swerved a little to avoid their dumbassery. Any accidents happened would have been their fault and their vehicles were worth 4 to 5 times what mine was. (2000 dollar old ass truck)
Freshly washed, waxed, painted...Freshiness:

[editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
Now if i can just get the whole car painted rather than bits n pieces...Maybe i could finally get a real paint job, even washed, waxed and hand dried, the paint is still ugly as hell, looks smeared and whatnot.
I want a car :'( I moved to China from the UK and now I have to pass my test AGAIN! but I can't wait to get a new car, should be cheaper in all respects too. I mean its £29 for a full tank here (depending on the car) instead of filling up £60 in my little Pug 206
Hm, haven't really posted any pics of my car here yet
well it's not really mine, but I'm the only one using it at the moment

NuclearDwarf I love the volvo man. I see about 300k? Nice! And it's not often you see the 4spd manual. I would loveee to get a volvo 240. I was looking at one but it sold right from under me yesterday.
I'm envious of your volvo, to be honest. I wish I could get one to go with my car now so I have something better to drive on gas. haha

thanks man!
yeah it's gone way past 300k km now, starting to make some odd rattles here and there
it's actually a 5-speed though, it's kinda blurry

Really? More rare than i thought, well judging by your back plate, you don't live in the US like I do..So to me. That's extremely rare. I am struggling just to find a decent automatic. They just arent around here anymore.
You will probably be flayed for saying the "A" word here. I don't mind if you say it, but others certainly do.

I don't blame anyone for it. Trust me. I mean I drive an "A word" but I don't have a choice, I drive a 89 Caprice. I found a nice 4 spd volvo...It didnt even last long enough for the guy to call me back. it's impossible to find and I am running out of time for a winter vehicle...So sadly I have to take what I can get.
I drive an automatic and I enjoy the convenience of an automatic. Suck it
Me too, but others don't take kindly to that.
Kill them
