What are you on about kid?
Just cause you have a Mustang doesn't mean you're hot shit. Plus your parents bought your car.
Mine's better anyways.
Was that reply even worth it considering the quoted post is about 10 pages back?
florida, we don't have any smog testing either
New Mexico doesn't require 'em either

You sure? I was required to have mine smogged before i could get it registered. I remember because i was stressing the fuck out, being that everyone kept telling me 150% chance the rotary would never ever pass smog, in which case i wouldn't have been able to drive it. But i passed so hey.

As far as i know Rio Rancho doesn't require it at all, but Albuquerque does...I don't know where you live though, so..

Oh, i was mainly talking about the front plates, but in Los Lunas where i live, smog testing isn't required
It shocks me that in some states cars aren't smog tested.
...coming from the Environmental Science student that's currently studying all about the effects of smog. :P
Smog laws here are ridiculous, I once failed a smog check visually 2 times in a row due to "180 degree incorrect timing" cause my harmonic balancer was slipping. Dumbass smog tech. couldn't just let me pass even though I was passing by the numbers and it was obvious that my car wasn't running at 180 degree neg. timing. Spent the 3 days following that hopping from junkyard to junkyard until I could find a new balancer.

Ah. Yeah, front plates aren't required here. Which is nice because i couldn't imagine putting a fucking bracket on the front of my car, i think the fog lights he butchered the grill to put on look ugly enough.

My exhaust is catless. It smells delicious.

Florida doesn't require it :smug:
My Dad told me about how when he was a kid, they had "smog warnings" and stuff, and whenever they'd go out to play and do physical activities, they'd have chest pains the next day.
BECAUSE SMOG.
Well California's fucking retarded in general. Dumb gun laws, dumb car laws, full of hippies and priuses etc.
California is trying to lead by example, but no one gives a fuck.
There are plenty of efficient aftermarket parts that can pass smog through emissions, but they aren't approved by the state because of how fucking lazy our state government is with stuff like that.
Hurrr lets spend billions on a rail system instead

and save billions on gas
I remember reading that trains use more fuel per person than cars do. So, yeah.
depends what train, what car, loads of factors
True. Based on that, though, the two can't be significantly more efficient/inefficient

The way i see it, limiting what you can do aftermarket-wise to a car is a bit like someone telling you what is and isn't okay for you to...Say, modify your PC with. Now obviously some parts aren't compatible but that goes the same for vehicles. And obviously modifying your car might affect the environment a little bit more but...It's sorta like buying a hybrid. My one RX-7 or your one prius isn't going to change the world. Point is, fuck your smog shit, if i want a free-flowing exhaust that will free up 80+ HP then by golly I'm going to fucking get it, i don't care if it's illegal or not. The way i have it setup i can change the intake and exhaust back to the stock setup in about 20 minutes each, deal w/ it government.
[editline]8th December 2011[/editline]
Stupid set of laws if you ask me, regulate what the manufactures do but don't regulate what i do...Not like I'm going out and murdering people or anything, not like it's hurting anything.

A thousand current used cars with larger engines and higher fuel consumption are far less damaging to the environment than a thousand brand new 'eco-friendly' cars taking their place.
Its the construction of cars that is most damaging.

Except trains are fucking terrible.
Cincinnati just approved the project to place a 100+ million dollar rail system through the worst neighborhood in town. And a bonus to it all is cutting law enforcement, fire, and official positions!
