I've also never seen anyone refer to those ideologies as only far-left. I think it's safe to say that "leftist" means socialist, communist, or anarchist. One could also identify as a socialist and be any one of those three, or a collectivist.
there is a soft-left who have a degree of emancipatory ideals but can't be considered socialist, communist or anarchist. You'd still refer to them as being left yet they aren't quite as left as possible. I suppose to a degree some socialist ideologies can be considered quite close to a centre but still

Social democracy? Progressivism? I would consider those center-left but not leftist.

this is why the simple left-and-right spectrum is so bad
