How does I do it? :downs:
Cold turkey or ween myself off? I really want to quit, so I can appear more attractive to the ladies and plus I'm tired of losing my breath so quickly when working out or running. But it tastes sooooo good and it's basically my one and only stress reliever.
So right now this is my plan:
1. Find a new stress reliever
2. WILLPOWER
3. Cold turkey or gradual quitting process.
Sound good? or..?
1. Get some weed.
2.You can do it!
3. Cold turkey. That's what my dad did.
I quit cold turkey and only smoke a few times a month now, but I would suggest gradually smoking less and less and then eventually after taking a lot off add something positive like pot. You need to find a better stress reliever, just something you can enjoy fast like caffeine or something.

You... stop putting cigarettes into your mouth and lighting them on fire?
And yes, I suggest weed aswell. In fact, I never feel the urge to have a cigarette when I'm stoned.
Yeah, I know what you guys mean with the smoking dope thing. I never crave when I'm stoned. Okay, ween off for a little bit, cold turkey + dope, WILLPOWER. Sounds good to me. :buddy:
i quit cigs for like 1 and a half years by doing it cold turkey. it worked good, but i just hung with the wrong crowd and started again.
i was just like fuck this and threw my half a pack of marlboro reds on the ground and quit for a year and a half like that
Pack a' reds
You could try getting an e-cigarette and weaning yourself off with it.
You could try getting an e-cigarette and weaning yourself off with it.
This. I forgot about the e-cigs. Get a Volcano, it's a nicotine vape and won't hurt your lungs since it is smokeless and doesn't have tar.
e cigarettes don't really work for me, they burn my throat
e cigarettes don't really work for me, they burn my throat
Me too. I bought one hoping for a nice healthy buzz but it annihilates my throat. It's rather unpleasant.
it's pretty fuckin hard to use, but one thing i know that works is inhaling for 2 seconds then sucking on it (drawing it into your mouth instead of your lungs) for the rest of the time and then inhaling what you got in your mouth. if that makes any sense
I heard about one book which tells about smoking, quitting smoking. Never read it, except for the backcover. It said like.. 90% or so of the ppl who read it, quit. Might be far-fetched but who knows.
Then some tips that might do some good;
-Chew sunflower seeds
-When you want to smoke REAL BAD, take 3 deep breaths and the cravings are gone.

Yeah it does. I do this a lot when smoking

This as well. Sunflower seeds are always my cure to a craving. I always had a bag of ranch in high school and I'd just tell the teacher would you rather me smoking in here or spitting dip on your floor?
Yeah it does. I do this a lot when smoking

i know lots of people including myself do it, i just didn't know what the name for it was, it's like a french inhale but skipping the nose part and inhaling it
Be a man, cold turkey.
My dad did it, so did my grandad, and my brother.
I never started so no need for me to get off them.
If you quit cold turkey you will feel much better about yourself, but requires more willpower. Try and do random activities to keep your mind occupied, and avoid situations like sitting around outside whilst everyone is smoking where the normal thing to do would be have one.
When I quit cold turkey, as soon as I got a little bored and having a smoke came to my mind, I went for a little bike ride, worked out. It helped motivate me a bit since I knew I would be able to do these things better and easier now I didn't smoke.
You can get a pill from your doctor which will block the receptors in your brain that receive the effects of nicotine or whatever. A friend of mine takes it and he hasn't smoked in a month.
Is that a fucking weed rating I see down there?

Yes that is a fucking weed rating you see down there

You'll still withdraw. Probably a lot more hard than if you didn't use it.

Blocking the receptor will precipitate withdrawals and will only deal with the physical aspect of withdrawal, not the habitual or psychological aspects.

I love Dan's smartness <3
Try to change when in the day you smoke to eliminate mid-day smoking, then slowly (over a month or 2) start substituting cigarettes with joints (initially with more tobacco than weed, but altering that ratio as time goes on).
After the 2 month mark, you should probably be onto pure weed joints and would be primarily smoking at night time (won't interfere with work/school).
The idea probably won't work, but if you give it a shot and it does work, then we might have a nice cure for tobacco smoking.
Do you want to give up?
or do you think you should/have to give up?
If it's the latter, I wouldn't even try.
If I give up it'll be through straight kicking it I won't use any nicotene substitutes, I've had people nagging a few times about stopping smoking but I know that if I don't want to my will power will crumble easily and I'll smoke again, I'll give up when I want to and I think I'll be able to do it quite easily.
People are habitual, smoking is a habit another step that will aid in just going cold turkey is replacing smoking.
Smoking is a "bad" habit you need something to replace smoking ideally a "good" habit you need to substitute it for something else
I really want to quit again. I had quit like two months ago, but through all the stress in my life i ended starting again. When i stopped it was cold turkey so weed was my main key to helping me. When i thought about having a cig i would take a fat bong rip and would forget about the cigarette. So we should turn this into a thread to help everyone quit, cause we all know it is a terrible habit for numerous reasons. I have right here next to me my last cancer stick. I am going to make this my last one and will let you all know how it goes. Also good luck MaveDustaine and i hope you quit :)
i quit recently myself; although i'm still having one every 2 or so days from mates shouting me and stuff, i'm not addicted anymore.
You just have to promise yourself you won't buy another deck/pouch. Think of all the better things you could spend money on.

That's the problem man, I can't think of anything better to spend a fiver on.
Plus I need baccy and rizlas to make joints and smoke da weed so.. I need my pouches :D
..so I smoke :(

I think we're talking about varenicline here. The physical aspect is tied with the psychological aspect, since varenicline binds competitively to the receptors (cant remember their proper name off the top of my head) even if you do smoke while taking it, you'll get no effect from the nicotine, so unless you're a retard you're going to stop because you can't feel it.
It also makes smoking taste horrible to some who take it as well, so there's that.
edit: You can do any stop smoking method known to man, but unless you really WANT to quit, you won't.

Sure, something can have a higher binding affinity but it'll still cause withdrawals unless it agonises the receptor, in which case it's just a nicotine substitute.

it does agonise the receptors
So it's really no different to nicotine gum then? If it agonises it it's just doing what nicotine does already. Stops you smoking it but is still doing what smoking does. You'd still have to withdraw from the physical side at a later date.
Remember, the majority of the addictive qualities from cigarettes is the act of smoking.
