• Growing it out (my hair) and keeping it under control

This thread really makes me want to grow my hair real long again. I always end up growing it long, getting pissed of with it and cutting it and then regreting it. And so the cycle goes.
long hair is for hippies
Just brush your hair after you towel-dry it. What I do is towel-dry my hair so it's relatively (but not quite completely dry), brush it, and then let it dry up completely on its own (only takes like fifteen minutes for me) It'll keep your hair relatively straight. You may have a few stray hairs, and if your hair acts like mine, once you put a hood up you'll have a hell of time straightening it again without attacking it with a brush. Speaking of which. DO NOT BRUSH YOUR HAIR WHEN ITS DRY. I'm not sure what it is, or if its just me, but if I try to brush my hair when its dry (even if its only been completely dry for five minutes), but I swear I have so many goddamn knots I'm surprised I don't pull out half my damn scalp trying to get them out. And that's with picking, not tugging. Also, and excuse me for the bluntness, but looking at your hair, it looks a bit greasy. Do you shower every morning?

It's pretty wavy, but it appears thin so you shouldn't end up with a huge mess. Be sure to comb it though. Keep in mind that until it hits just below shoulder length and you're able to even it up, your hair will look like shit. I just got over this so-called "awkward phase" myself. Once it gets longer, if you don't want to tie it back you can part it. Once parted, you can let it hang over the sides or put it behind your ears. This depends on how long you want it though. You have a lot of forehead, so you should be able to pull off the long parted hair look quite easily.
The worst thing about having long hair is how much shit you get for having it. You can have guys who have decent looking long hair and you always get the twats and chavs who go "Hurr Durr you're a fag" when they have tram lines and shit running through their own hair.

(I assume chavs are the UK's equivalent of wiggers, right?)
I have medium-length hair and looks like a fucking mess, but the bitches dig it. 8) Well the ones that aren't into the jocks, those chicks only like short hair. Or that clean parted pretty boy length hair. You know.
I take care of my hair quite fine, but this thread has made me want to try using a hair-dryer. So brb, having a shower. :D Wow, took me 47 minutes to do it, but it feels nice on my head, feels better with my hands, and (according to my sister who thinks there's something wrong with me for stealing her hair-dryer), looks better. Do iiiiiit. Oh by the way, I have long hair too.
Men's hair tends to grow fast. Get layers in it every couple of months! That's a reasonable length, with layers in it!
Long hair is for gays and emos.
Thanks. I have long hair.
Don't grow your hair. We need more people with haircuts you could set your watch to.
Okay, a little back story first. For the last five years I was an air cadet (go 204!) and because of that I never really got to grow my hair out and was the only person in high school who always had a nicely trimmed 1/4" cesar cut. ugh.... Anyways, fast forward to March 2009 and I'm finally done with cadets and ready to try new things. Goal#1: Get a job. (done and have been working for nine months now) Goal#2: Grow it out. Now I could stop at say three inches (which is about the average hair length for men) and call it good but I wanted to see what I missed for the last five years (and also because I lost a bet back in 2007). So I'm going all the way and not having a major haircut (facial hair can be trimmed as well as any hair that gets in my eyes) for five years. Guesstimation time! :eng101: The average person between 15 and 25 will grow approximately six inches of hair per year. If hair is left to grow and is not cut, after five years you will have about 30 inches (~2.5 feet) of hair. Now fast forward ten more months to now. I got nearly six inches now but have already noted a major problem: How the hell do you keep it under control? At all times it looks like I stuck a fork in a light socket. Also, why the hell is everyone calling me a hippy? I look like fucking Doc Brown and I don't hug trees.
Grow out your hair out to about the tip of your nose in front, mid to bottom of your neck in back.
Grow out your hair out to about the tip of your nose in front, mid to bottom of your neck in back.
Mid-back, all the way around. :colbert:
get a straightener/flat iron.
Just get it thinned out. Whoops, didn't see the pictures before I posted. Disregard that. If you keep growing it it will eventually settle down.

That line won't work. Edit: When the hell did media tags on images stop working? Edit: lol, red eye.
 If that's you, don't grow your hair out. Cut it as short as you can.
Long hair is for gays and emos.
Dave Mustaine's gonna kill you.
Since I'm asian, i just grow out my hair and keep it flat until it covers my ears, then my parents force me to cut it.
my parents force me to cut it.
Are you 8
No, it gets annoying everyday they yell at me
No, it gets annoying everyday they yell at me
Yell back, throw things, get the gun.
Stick chopsticks in their eyes

Try growing some stubble/beard to balance it out a bit.
I had hair about six inches long for 3 years and while yes it looked good it was a pain in the ass to take care of. I now have shorter hair and enjoy it more because i'm not always making sure it looks good.
Thanks. I have long hair.
Cut it now.
I must be average, every time I get my haircut I cut 3 inches off. They are usually 4-5 weeks apart haha. I keep my hair medium length or long some people have different opinions on whether or not it is long or medium. http://media.photobucket.com/image/medium%20length%20hair%20guys/suwarnaadi/kutcher-ashton.jpg Little bit shorter than that, add a flip to the sides, and all the girls with run to you. :smug:
Cut it now.
Oh no someone looks different from me!!! Also, most gay people have short hair. They're too into society's style trends.

The weight of it keeps it down or something.
My hair's like 6-8 inches, I just let it go all curly and occasionally straighten it and I bloody love it. Although I hate running and feelin' it all blow about.
