I used to have terrbible acne, just go to the doctor and get accutaine, it'll be gone in a few months, and it shouldn't come back once you're done.
Yeah, I wouldn't say go that far. I wouldn't say that at ALL. Accutane is the most some of the most potent shit they have to clear up the acne. Have you heard or read of the side effects it can cause? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- List of side effects from http://www.drugs.com/accutane.html: depressed mood, trouble concentrating, sleep problems, crying spells, aggression or agitation, changes in behavior, hallucinations, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself; * sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body; * blurred vision, sudden and severe headache or pain behind your eyes, sometimes with vomiting; * hearing problems, hearing loss, or ringing in your ears; * seizure (convulsions); * severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate; * loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); * severe diarrhea, rectal bleeding, black, bloody, or tarry stools; * fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, purple spots under your skin, easy bruising or bleeding; or * joint stiffness, bone pain or fracture. Less serious Accutane side effects may include: * discomfort with contact lenses; * joint pain, back pain; * feeling dizzy, drowsy, or nervous; * dryness of the lips, mouth, nose, or skin; or * cracking or peeling skin, itching, rash, changes in your fingernails or toenails. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gotta ask yourself if the benefits are worth the risks that come with this. I'm pretty sure you can't get that unless it's prescribed to you and I'm also pretty sure that it won't be prescribed to you unless your acne is absolutely terrible, but in case it is prescribed to you: You've been warned. Your doctor will have told you this anyway. :)
I fucking hate bastards with long hair.
You guys who have no success trying over the counter medication should go see your doctors. I went to mine about a month ago and he was able to prescribe some anti-biotic pill (Tetracycline) and a topical gel (mostly Benyzol peroxide + something else I think). Cleared it up great. Just don't stop taking it ( or taking it in excess) or you might develop an immunity to the medication. No luck with the scars yet though. Hopefully that will clear up with time.
Was it Benza Clin? Clindamycin - Benzoyl Preoxide Gel. The stuff is like crack for my face.
Pop the zits you'll look cool.
I still use an egg white/yolk face mask and it clears up acne wonderfully.

Quick thoughts: I had nodulocystic acne in my teens, which completely ruined my school years. I was placed on an aggressive accutain treatment...today at 22 my skin is incomparably better. There are permanent signs of my suffering...which are fading more and more as time goes on. It's the shittiest and longest lasting experience of my life, but it worked out in the end.
Was it Benza Clin? Clindamycin - Benzoyl Preoxide Gel. The stuff is like crack for my face.
Erythromycin (3%) and Benzoyl Peroxide (5%) Topical Gel. Some Generic Rx brand that they whipped up at the pharmacy. Or maybe it's made by Sandoz. I dunno. Last one I got was a little different but it doesn't matter. Same ingredients.

EDIT: here it is sunlight hepls to. get burned but not to burned.
Anyone have any tips about an oily face? I use a lot of acne product which all work very well, so I have very little to no acne now, but as a side effect, I'm washing away all of the essential oils on my face. I can feel it getting dry whenever I wash my face, but obviously, I can't just stop washing my face. Any tips or products that help acne but still keep skin moist?
After a few years I've gotten used to it, and gave up on all those creams and shit. They either made it worse or didn't work at all. I could go see if my Doc has any pills for it, but then my liver wouldn't be too happy.
Your avatar made me think I had a piece of dirt on my screen :argh:
I've heard that sunlight is good for killing some bacteria on your face, thus reducing the acne (probably a very small amount). I've also heard that direct sunlight is shitty for your face in the long run due to the UV rays and what not. I doubt it helps very much. All it seems to do is make my face even more oily which makes me ask the question: Anyone know what can keep the oils down? Natural or medicinal products?
Your acne makes me RAGE too.
LOL Good thing I haven't posted my picture...yet. You guys'd be jealous. Nah, just kidding. I'm no stud but I'm not a greasy, gooky, hideous bastard. I just tend to get an oily face. Nothing serious. Been acne free since I started up on the meds with the occasional zit here and there. My back started to break out once I ran out of it and my mom took her sweet ass time getting me an appointment and picking up the refills. OH well. I have it now and I'm taking it. All is well again.
Like I said a few pages ago. Absolutely do not pick at your face, it causes scabs, scarring, makes them look more red, etc. Also just wash your face in the morning and at night with facewash, acne pads like Oxy Pads, and zit cream. If the problem persists, then go to the dermatologist.
You know, I've been to the dermatologist and they tried to (well the one I went to anyway - the bitches...) shove some expensive treatments in my face. Some micro dermabrasion shit that peels away the skin, revealing new layers, laser treatments, blah blah blah. Turns out I didn't really need it but it would be nice to get a laser treatment to clear up the scarring / oil glands. Too bad that shit costs 2.5 grand!
I don't have acne
Refering to the earlyer post about sunlight I belieave it can certainly help clean up acne. Having roasted the majority of my upper body at the beach recently ( because I like to live on the edge I didnt put on any suntan lotion ) it is actually pretty clear of acne. Heat however is different in the fact that it can cause sweating which can make acne worse. [editline]05:59PM[/editline] At least for me
get ingrown hair on dick freak out when you bleed after popping the bitch out

I hate how people think that acne is caused by not washing. It won't make it any better by letting yourself get greasy and shit but acne, proper bad horrible acne, is usually caused by other things. I know my dad had really bad acne at my age and I used to have it really bad as well. However I'm just coming out of a course of Roaccutane which has done wonders.
How did you not notice this was a thread from years ago.
