Some Copy Pasta
Tales from the Crypt, sometimes titled HBO's Tales from the Crypt, is a horror anthology American TV series that ran from 1989 to 1996 on the premium cable channel HBO. The title was based on the 1950s EC Comics series of the same name and most of the content originated in that comic or the four other EC Comics of the time (Haunt of Fear, Vault of Horror, Crime Suspense Stories, and Shock Suspense Stories). The show was produced by HBO with uncredited association by The Geffen Film Company and Warner Bros. Television (all part of a production consortium officially called Tales From The Crypt Holdings). The series is not to be confused with the 1972 film by the same name or Tales from the Darkside, another similarly themed horror anthology series.
Because it was aired on HBO, a premium cable television station, it was one of the few anthology series to be allowed to have full freedom from censorship by network standards and practices. The station allowed the series to contain graphic violence as well as other content that had not appeared in most television series up to that time, such as profanity, gore, nudity and sexual situations, which could give the series a TV-MA rating for today's standards. The show is subsequently edited for such content when broadcast in syndication or on basic cable.
While the series began production in the United States, in the final season filming moved to England, resulting in episodes which revolved around British characters.
It is currently being shown on Zone Horror in the UK.
End of Copy Pasta.
Tales From The Crypt is the shit. I remember watching this show as a little kid, but the only thing that stuck with me was the memorable introduction and the Crypt Keeper himself. Each Episode begins and ends with the host cracking puns and commenting on what you're going to see or what you've just witnessed.
The series was produced by Robert Zemeckis, and featured many cameos by famous celebrities. Examples include Dan Aykroyd, Steve Buscemi, Tim Curry, Tom Hanks, Joe Pesci, Brad Pitt, Christopher Reeve, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I could list many episodes among my favorites, including the one the govenator directed in the video above.
Season 1, Episode 3: Dig That Cat... He's Real Gone
A bum displays his ability to resurrect himself.
Season 2, Episode 2: The Switch
Kelly Preston is a sexy young woman looking for a handsome young stud or so she thinks. She soon learns that she has the undying attraction of a rich elderly man (William Hickey) who would do just about anything to win her heart. He soon meets a doctor (Roy Brocksmith) and his associate Hans (Rick Rossovich), who are more than willing to grant him his wishes, for a very costly price.
Season 2, Episode 3: Cutting Cards
Reno (Henriksen) and Sam (Tighe) are a pair of hardcore gamblers who don't play for fun, who challenge each other in a sample game of cards and the end result could be deadlier then they could've ever bargained for. This happens to be James Rolfe's (Angry Video Game Nerd) favorite episode.
Season 2, Episode 8: For Cryin' Out Loud
A greedy rock promoter tries to steal the money raised at a benefit concert when his conscience (Sam Kinison) intervenes.
Season 3, Episode 3: Carrion Death
A sadistic serial killer has unforeseen complications when pursued by a determined motorcycle cop in a barren desert. This one always makes me feel like I need to take a shower, very gross, but very effective.
The series also spawned two movies.

Demon Knight is the best of the three movies amongst many fans.

Dennis Miller plays a private investigator who ends up in a bordello run by vampires, led by the Mother of all Vampires, Lilith. Bordello of Blood was the second movie, and is generally less popular then it's predecessor.

A doctor gets her medical license revoked and is fired from her job after the death of a patient. After being fearful of a patient's words of voodoo cults, she travels to Jamaica. There, she realizes that she, and her patient, are the target of a voodoo cult. The film originally had nothing to do with Tales from the Crypt and did not have the bookend Crypt Keeper segments. When the film did poorly in theaters, however, special Crypt Keeper segments were filmed for the US release with John Kassir reprising his role as the Crypt Keeper.
Heh, I remember an episode where Meat Loaf gets killed and turned into steaks and fed to unaware customers. Goodtimes.

Yep that is one of my favorites also. It's the episode starring Christopher Reeve, What's Cookin'
Oh God, my older sister showed me this when I was about 6, it scarred my childhood. By todays standards it doesn't look all that scary at all, but it seriously terrified me as a child.
I used to shit bricks when my parents watched this.
Ahh nostalgia... I remember the one with that crazy-ass Santa Claus, back when I was like 8-9... bricks were shat :/

That is a great episode. In fact, I believe it was the first episode they shot, but it was the second episode in the series.
In fact, most of the episodes were good, and I'd say they only started to decline in the fourth season. I don't own the last two seasons.
Holy shit, this is a TV show?
I've got a bunch of the comics.

Yep, from my knowledge, it was very popular when it aired. It had a whole bunch of spinoff shows and its own merchandising including a kids show (of all things) and I believe there was even a game show too (I don't remember that too well; just saw it mention on wikipedia).
I have to bump this here.
Gotta say i love it so much i can hardly sleep without rewatching an episode.
This is why i have a sleeping problem, there aren't any episodes on my PC thanks to the lack of free space.
I have seen one episode where a man was cut in half with a saw, disturbing. However I also saw the Demon Knight movie and found it very entertaining.
In my opinion this is like an adult version of goosebumps (a kids tv show) and it should be brought back.
I liked the TV show, but the movie Demon Night wasn't that good.

I only saw the kids show, heck I didn't even know it was a spin off.

Funny, since both were inspired by the E.C comics of the fifties. The comics also inspired the Stephen King/George A Romero CREEPSHOW. Man, I wish I had some of the comics...
