There's a lot more info for this on /m/. The jaegers are going to move more like robots instead of walking like a giant person
so like the way big o moves? fuck yes
Actually, they're doing a media blackout now. What was shown at comiccon won't be shown for months
That kinda sucks, but at least we WILL get to see it eventually...
saw a bit of some interviews on g4 (man i hate g4). charlie is a scientist / "the smart guy." wonder how that will work out. also shooting was done 12 weeks ago.

Charlie always plays a dumb guy. I don't want him to get typecasted into that role but I'm used to seeing him play a dumbass in IASIP
I hope this movie will open doors to letting other giant robot movies to be made.
I mean, who doesn't love giant robots?

Out of subject, but still fits setting
This is official poster, don't deny me
If someone can find me video of the Godzilla teaser I will love them forever
On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes - a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) - who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past.
I laughed when I read this part.

Concept mechs
He's got some skinny ass legs there (but who cares)
It looks like a robotic version of something out of Shadow Of The Colossus.
To be honest I wouldn't care if this movie turned out horrible plot wise. As long as there's giant monsters fucking the shit out of eachother I will be content. Though, this movie is looking extremely promising.
less gundam
more mechwarrior
less gundam

you can't have Timberwolves and Maulers stomping around in a movie about gigantic monsters invading
you just can't
As someone who loves giant monster movies, this is exciting.
you can't have Timberwolves and Maulers stomping around in a movie about gigantic monsters invading

Why not? It's better than something that acts like a Power Rangers Zord.
more like big o
I predict this and the new Godzilla movie to both do extremely well,
Then what happened to zombies will happen to monsters and robots and we'll see them everywhere and get sick of them and grow to hate them.
I mean, I hope not but I can see that happening.

That aside, this looks awesome.
Why not? It's better than something that acts like a Power Rangers Zord.
because battletech is just way too realistic for monster movies; yeah we're talking about giant robots here so 'realistic' as a term is extremely vague, but if your film is about a mass of majestically massive monster motherfuckers destroying stuff and you want to stick a big robot in there somewhere, it just has to be an anthromorphic cyber jetpack ninja wielding an oversized gatling gun in one hand and a chainsword in the other. a semi-realistic walking gun and missile platform just won't fit the setting. it just won't.
the more over-the-top something is, the less anything realistic will fit in. fact
less gundam

Are you kidding me?
Godzilla and co eat mechwarrior sized mechs for breakfast.

besides, the most likely to actually survive aganst Godzilla are Gundam's and Armored Cores since they have boosters that could allow them to get away fast enough.
Mechwarrior: Squashed like a bug.

Big Man Japan was so fucking trippy

I'm pretty sure that Armored Cores are still way smaller than Godzilla, as well as Gundam's being midget sized.
The best way to survive a Godzilla attack is to be really small. It is easier to simply elude the far larger enemy to fight it. Fleeing the chaos, though still ineffective, is a far better alternative to being in a robot and being smashed to pieces. Think about it, large things never survive Godzilla, even is they are larger than Godzilla.
What about Jet Jaguar?

there will be a prequel ish comic, the movie is being forced to 3D by the studio (ugh, and it is a conversion too), and del Toro got GlaDOS' voice actress to voice a robot. dunno if she is being GlaDOS or just a robot as del Toro did appearntly ask Valve if he could use glados

If I was gay I might just bust a nut in a cinema

Lots of viral marketing underway, and a look at one of the monsters and robots

^this website apparently adds new attack sites to the map, with a bunch of videos and such to go with each site. So far just San Francisco is unlocked, with two videos for it
