Thats why i wanna see a prequel. I want to see more robots.
Whenever Cherno Alpha is not on screen, characters should be asking "Where's Cherno Alpha?".
Didnt he kill Godzilla in Tokyo SOS?
I'm not entirely sure, honestly. He didn't have a healing factor in that movie for some reason, so it's possible. It was kinda ambiguous, though.
[sp]Wow really? I must have been distracted by the awesomeness that was leaking from the scene when Idris Elba came out of the Jaegar.[/sp]
I thought that [sp]he came out of Gypsy Danger? He used to pilot it, right? That's why there was that scene after they repaired Gypsy where he didn't want to be disturbed because he was getting all nostalgic?[/sp] Or am I totally wrong?
He was getting nostalgic probably because [sp]1) he was stationed in Alaska with Gipsy Danger as the commander 2) it was the last jeager to be fired up so that they could start the mission to destroy the Breach 3) Mako was piloting for the first time [/sp]
was i the only one that expected newt to [sp] mindmeld with a LIVING kaiju and ride on its shoulder like a badass and help fight the other kaiju with gypsy [/sp]
I enjoyed the film, there were a load of kids at my showing - a few got restless and kept changing seats which got annoying. I don't know why it annoyed me so much, but why did the main character go around looking like he was holding his trousers up the entire time?

This movie was exactly what it should've been. At no point was I like "damn, I wish I was doing something else" or "I wish something else was happening." It was giant robots beating the hell out of giant monsters, and it was beautifully done. [editline]23rd July 2013[/editline] I'm actually underselling it by calling it just that. But I loved it.
I'm a bit disappointed by how there's only 4 Jaegers you get to see beat shit up [sp]and two of them die immediately[/sp] but there's a shitload of potential for more movies and stuff in the 6 or so years they fought the Kaiju, shit they could probably make an HBO miniseries just out of the 6 day battle with the first Kaiju
[sp]He used to Pilot Coyote Tango, not Gypsy Danger.[/sp]
Ah okay, I guess I just wasn't paying that much attention. :v:
After some thought, I realized that using Jaegers, as badass as they are, are somewhat unnecessary when [sp]they could just use big tanks or planes that use that plasma cannon thing Gypsy Danger had.[/sp] But fuck it, it's still awesome to have Jaegers.
Yeah, seriously. Why use anything else when you can use GIANT. FUCKING. ROBOTS?

Like you said though, giant Jaegers are awesome and that reason alone excuses any impracticality that comes along with giant mechs.

There's really no point in discussing the practical reasoning behind using Jaegers. [editline]24th July 2013[/editline] Or building giant ocean walls. [editline]24th July 2013[/editline] I have this theory that everyone in the Pacific Rim universe is both a badass genius and practically retarded at the same time.
Or we could try living inland.

Basically the only solution we'd have to defend ourselves if Kaijus actually attacked, say, tomorrow, would be to die horribly. [editline]24th July 2013[/editline]
Or we could try living inland.
But they can still walk. The only reason they don't go inland is because they were killed before they did, the first Kaiju made it inland, there's nothing stopping them other than Jaegers.

One word: Railguns (Or of course Gypsy's plasma cannon or Striker Eureka's rockets.)
Watched this at the BFI IMAX in london. It was amazing.

The only problem I see with the jaegers is that they can't fly.
Saw it again with another group of friends. Still just as awesome the second time.
Do you even know how fucking massive that tank would have to be?
Smaller than a Jaeger.
Smaller than a Jaeger.
I cant imagine it'd be very mobile. [editline]25th July 2013[/editline] I mean the Kaiju LOOK slow, but thats just because they're so massive.
the kaiju could step on tanks and squish them super hard the jaegar have the advantage of being able to wrestle with the kaiju and force them away from land
Planes/Helicopters can be knocked out of the sky, and if they had one of those weapons, probably wouldnt be able to fly at all, Kaiju would [sp]probably be modified to deal with them.[/sp] Tanks are way too slow and immobile. Also, [sp]they WERE resorting to nuclear weapons at the start of the war, but keep in mind just nuking the shit out of every Kaiju that would appear would fuck everyone over eventually, you know, radiation and whatnot. And as we know from the climax, they would just become strong enough to withstand nuclear force anyway[/sp]
