He's more of an icon as an actor. In fact, as an actor he's a Western icon(Outlaw Josey Wales, Unforgiven, etc) AND a Cop icon(Dirty Harry, The Gauntlet, etc). As a director he's just good. What I mean is lots of directors have won Oscars but still aren't considered all time best directors. Wikipedia says 18 directors have won 2 or more directing Oscars, and the awards have been around for 81 years. That means about 1 out of four best directors is a repeat winner. Plus that doesn't even count the great ones who never got noticed.
Clint totally dominated Westerns, he's been a gunslinger more than any other actor I'd imagine And a hell of a lot of cop roles too Westerns: A Fistful of Dollars For a Few Dollars More The Good The Bad and the Ugly Rawhide Hang 'Em High Paint Your Wagon Two Mules for Sister Sara Joe Kidd High Plains Drifter The Outlaw Josey Wales Pale Rider Unforgiven Cop movies: Dirty Harry Magnum Force The Enforcer The Gauntlet Sudden Impact Tightrope City Heat The Dead Pool The Rookie In the Line of Fire Blood Work [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] And probably more I'm missing
in my opinion scorsese is a much better director than coppola. goodfellas is way better than godfather
And I suppose Shutter Island is better than Apocalypse Now. :downs:
High Plains Drifter
I really love that one.
To me, Marty Scorsese is definitely the best. Clint is pretty boss though, I never get tired of the Dollars..
Clint is at his best when he is making things that HE wants to make. There is only one movie you need to watch to see this. White Hunter Black Heart. [editline]5th May 2011[/editline] In fact, hell, let's rank Eastwood's films. 1. White Hunter Black Heart 2. Unforgiven 3. High Plains Drifter 4. Bronco Billy 5. Play Misty For Me
Clint totally dominated Westerns, he's been a gunslinger more than any other actor I'd imagine And a hell of a lot of cop roles too
I always had a hard time watching him in a more modern, urban role like Dirty Harry. Until he got older and cut his hair really short, I always thought he looked like he was born in the wrong century. I guess that's just how damn convincing he is.
Francis Ford Coppola would beg to differ that
Stanley Kubrick would probably beg to differ that, but would ultimately not care since he did go and say that The Godfather was the perfect film, so Coppola would still probably top it.
you'/re all wrong Garry Marshall is the best director ever.
you're wrong, gaspar noe is the better director out of all yalls
You're all wrong, Tommy Wiseau is definitely the best director.
can you cut the room bullshit? it got old like a year ago
you're wrong, gaspar noe is the better director out of all yalls
he's nothing special, people praise him just because he's french and makes weird films yeah, i saw enter the void. i saw it.
can you cut the room bullshit? it got old like a year ago
Nah it didn't. You just need to watch it differently. Make a drinking game.
he's nothing special, people praise him just because he's french and makes weird films yeah, i saw enter the void. i saw it.
people praise him cause he has balls. i praise him cause i can relate to his movies more than any other movie i've seen. i don't care who likes him or not, just don't get the part about him having giant steel balls wrong. [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] and his shit is much more normal than most other movies i've seen anyways.
I loved the good the bad and the ugly, and grand ternio. When he dies it will be sad times.
I loved the good the bad and the ugly, and grand ternio. When he dies it will be sad times.
He can't die, he's aging backwards.
Agreed,He can`t die!!!
He can't die, he's aging backwards.
I'll never look at Gene Hackman in the same light after watching the French Connection and it's sequel (particularly the cold turkey scenes in the sequel, strong stuff).
I loved the good the bad and the ugly, and grand ternio. When he dies it will be sad times.
when clint eastwood dies i will die and i will not rest until it is national clint eastwood day
I'll never look at Gene Hackman in the same light after watching the French Connection and it's sequel (particularly the cold turkey scenes in the sequel, strong stuff).
That's brilliant, watch The Conversation and Mississippi Burning.
Clint's great, but not the best ever, no.
True
Clint's great, but not the best ever, no.
Gran Torino was great. I thought it would be some action shit and be really shallow, but it was really good. I'm pretty sure he directed it right? Did he write it too?
hmm,I think he did both,i`m not so sure but i think he did.
Gran Torino was great. I thought it would be some action shit and be really shallow, but it was really good. I'm pretty sure he directed it right? Did he write it too?

hmm,I think he did both,i`m not so sure but i think he did.
Why do you keep putting the reply before the quote? It doesn't really matter, but it bugs the shit out of me.

Did you guys not watch this I rate it higher than Gran Torino
Another reason to say he's better at directing than acting. But I don't mean bad by it, he's still awesome in every way. Even musically.
