i don't think you're getting a palpitation when you run downstairs, it's just a sudden raise of your heartbeat because of the exercise
Ah. Thanks. I get really concerned about my heart and stuff like that.

If he is active during his day but has a rapid heartbeat/chest tightness after a flight or two of stairs it is most likely due to an exercise induced PVC. This is common and harmless. Increased exercise will diminish this problem in two ways, strengthen your heart so that physical tasks are less taxing but secondly and more importantly it will disconnect you from the discomfort you feel during the moment of a PVC and the ensuing heart rate change.

Yeah it's been fine all day today.
Actual medical question:
I go to bed at normal times (like 10-11), sometimes earlier. No matter how much I sleep, I'm always tired all day long. Every now and again, I get to bed and insomnia hits. Why is my body so fucking indecisive about sleep?

Do you eat a lot? I often skip meals (frequently both breakfast and lunch) and it leads to be becoming really tired, as I'm running on empty.
Also, what time do you get up at? Up until a few months ago, I was up at 5:30 and asleep at 23:30, but I can't do that anymore without crashing every month or so, which is inadvisable, for obvious reasons.
I've always been the sort who's out of bed less than 5 seconds after waking up, though.
Also, regular sleep patterns help with sleep issues.

When you go to bed do you sleep? Do you frequently wake up? What is the longest period of uninterrupted sleep (to your knowledge) do you experience on average?
Are you stressed, do you exercise, are you over or underweight, when do you eat, and roughly how old are you?

I go to bed at 10-11 on week nights, and wake up at 6:50 usually. When undisturbed, I usually sleep about 8 hours, and close to 11 on weekends. I do not exercise (unless you count PE and the occasional extreme sport), I am average weight (a tad closer to underweight than over), I eat when I wake, at 11:00 AM, a little after school (roughly 3:30), and at 6:00 PM). I am 16. I have anxiety and major depression, so yeah I'm stressed out a lot (I take 50 mg of Zoloft daily for it).

Sometimes as early as 6:30, sometimes as late as 2:00.

Teenagers often have sleep-related difficulty simply because they're teenagers; their schedule is weird, their body is growing, and they're under a lot of stress. My money's on a combination of that, your anxiety/depression (which could be causing insomnia and/or restless sleep), and the medication you are taking for that anxiety/depression. Psych meds can sometimes screw with your sleep.
When I sleep on my left side and put pressure on that side of my head, it pushes my ear canal shut and it doesn't like to re-open. The canal openings feel a bit different between my right and left ears, like the right canal is a straight shot in but the left canal is up and to the side a bit. Also, my ears pop a lot when I swallow or yawn, and it gets really annoying.

<- It appears my finger is lodged in my nose, what do?
I can easily pop my left shoulder in and out of its joint slightly, what do?
stop doing it?
if it doesn't cause you pain now, then that's great, but generally popping bones isn't that great for them in the long run
yeah, and before you know it, picking up a bag of shopping will cause your shoulder to dislocate

Things you have to look forward to
Symptoms
People with hypermobility syndrome may develop other conditions caused by their unstable joints. These conditions include:
Joint instability causing frequent sprains, tendinitis, or bursitis when doing activities that would not affect the normal individual
Early-onset osteoarthritis
Subluxations or dislocations, especially in the shoulder
Knee pain
Back pain, prolapsed discs or spondylolisthesis
Joints that make clicking noises
Susceptibility to whiplash
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome also known as TMJ
Increased nerve compression disorders (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome)
The ability of Finger Locking
Do not respond well to normal doses of anaesthetic or pain medication
"Growing pains" as described in children in late afternoon or night
and freaking out people at parties
Don't think I'm hypermobile though, can't do any weird shit with my fingers/touching thumb to forearm, mostly just the shoulder thing as well as some back/knee/ankle pains when I did karate, which made me stop doing it.
My thumb has a tendancy to bend back pretty far, but when i bend it forward it makes a clicking noise.
Is that hyperwhatever?

When i was observing in the ER as a student a few weeks ago, I saw a patient that really needed this handed to him.
I can easily pop my left shoulder in and out of its joint slightly, what do?
Think of this as a good thing. Should you get involved in a hard rugby tackle, or land heavily when snowboarding you can just pop it back in. Unless you're a fat fuck in which case when you roll out of bed the wrong way and miscalculate you can just pop it back in.

Help! I woke up this morning and found this... THING between my legs where my vagina should have been...
I would post a photo but when I took it I realised it looks A LOT like a penis so I reconsidered.
What could this be? O.o

I took a huge bong rip the other day and it fucked me hard. around 3 minutes after it I got extreme chest and arm pain on the right side. I thought I was having a heart attack or some shit. It lasted for a while too, after I layed down I started having some pretty bad full body muscle spasms too.
Anybody have any idea what the fuck happened? I think i might have just done some physical damage to my lungs and throat because my throat kinda hurt the day after, and I was coughing frequently.
Now I seem to be fine, but i've never felt pain like that before. It got better when I calmed myself down.
My scalp itches like fuck whenever i exercise, anyone else had this?
Actually it's when i sweat in general.

Does it go away after you wash? I sometimes have similar, I think it's just a mixture of heat and sweat. Goes away once I wash though. May be worth investing in some expensive conditioner, nothing for show, purely medicinal.
