For a long time ive noticed I get these weird dark, purple like blotches on my hand and fingers. Its not like a rash or anything, just the color of the skin. It shows mostly when it's cold, but shows without cold too and it shows up multiple times a day. Also, my fingers or entire hand sometimes become numb for seemingly no reason at all and it's very uncomfortable. My hands are almost always shaking and weird hand/arm spasms occur at times. I just now decided to look this shit up on the internet and Reynaud's phenomenon seems to be the closest thing I can find that relates to it. Thoracic outlet syndrome seems a bit like it as well. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001449/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002406/ [editline]10th February 2012[/editline] What do you guys think?
I should also note that I have high blood pressure and anxiety. I'm also taking minocycline which apparently strengthens Renyaud's.
Is it healthy to do exercises and then go to bed immediately after?
It's fine, its great actually because your body gets rested up [editline]18th February 2012[/editline]
What's wrong with my fingers? Whenever I do whats in the video, they click, it's whenever I squeeze like that, It's a boney click and feel. [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] A better view. My fingers also feel stiff. The shit with bending of fingers is just me showing off my double jointedness :v:.
I know a lot of people who's fingers pop when they do things similar to that.. They were double jointed too, but it isn't something bad.
I've had a rather intense headache these past few days, standing up or sitting up for too long and I feel like I'm going to pass out. Too long being like 5-20 minutes. On top of that my bladder has been acting up as well. I have to go to the bathroom every few hours, but I'm not shitting normally, it's just liquid. I'm also pissing a lot less than normal.
You have diarrhoea and possibly a UTI or bladder infection if you're pissing that much. Or you could be drinking FAR too much water. As for the headaches I have no idea.
I know a lot of people who's fingers pop when they do things similar to that.. They were double jointed too, but it isn't something bad.
Really? That's a relief!
Know any brand names that you could recommend to me?
Usually any generic brand will work.
relapse??? I don't know on that one. tell me what your doc says.
Well I went to the doctor today and it turns out I have some form of bronchitis that affects the eyes as well (explains the conjunctivitis). He put me on some 5 day antibiotic which he said should help my eyes too. He said the sickness I had 4 weeks ago is probably unrelated.
I want to get into EMS too, i plan to take EMT-B next year, when i graduate, or during my senior year if my school is willing to offer EMT-B (the EMS station down the street gets 1.3 calls a day, so they have the time to take on a student and their medical supervisor teaches EMT-B and has offered to do it, just my school isn't really with it, and probably won't add it due to "budget restraints") I've done a total of 40 hours observing in house, and on a few trucks in my own time and through some school student intern programs, which just ended. I think for my age (17) I am moving in the right direction in how proactive i am with doing as much as possible, be it through personal contacts who work on trucks that handle 911, or through a school programs. Until then, ill be taking medical terminology classes at the local community college, because i can do that regardless of school budgets and age restraints, and ill be working on getting my college basic credits done via early start programs and AP courses; while hopefully volunteering at the hospital which i secured some friendships with the staff. Oh and i help out in the nurses office, but that is kiddy stuff. Do you plan to get your -I? or are you going the other route by working on another degree? I met a ton of RNs/CAs who are EMT-B, seemed like every other person in the PCU was an EMT-B so you never know.
Where are you at anyway? Once I get my ICEMA (local EMS crap) done my first priority is getting a job in the field. I'm not sure what the requirements are for -I but I've heard various different things on how much time you need for your -P card. Depending on how things go I might just go straight for -P. What kind of programs does your school have? Things like HOSA? When I was in school I ended up taking an EMR class purely by accident (which is how I got into EMS) and that gave me a good leg up in terms of knowledge when I went on to get my EMT. Anything you're doing to learn more about this stuff and the contacts you're making will help you in some form or another. Up here the EMT program is a 16 week deal where you get a couple of clinical shifts and a couple ride outs on the ambulance. If you're really driven to do it and apply yourself you should be able to pass no problem (that's not saying it won't be hard). Don't get discouraged if you fail your first time around though as it's something like 44% pass rate. [editline]18th February 2012[/editline] If you have any questions or need any help with something feel free to PM me.

Take your full round of antibiotics bro (even if you're feeling better, i've made that mistake personally), and just keep spitting out what you cough up (don't swallow it). If your chest starts to hurt when you breath, and if you get really breathless contact your Doc. You'd be surprised how quickly Pneumonia can sneak up on you, so i would watch out for that, and just take your pills. I am in HST, which is a variant of HOSA. I'm in Austin Texas man, they have really good EMS services here, with some good hospitals (Seton, Brackenridge, St.David that don't mind students like me rooting around in them). Here, it takes two years to go from EMT -B to -P in most college/community college programs ( the community college offers the best program in the state, the graduates on common get hired right away). The -B program you describes sounds a lot like the ones they do here from my understanding. And I was advised by multiple EMTs, and my friend who is a -P to get my basic and just hold onto it and take it slowly, i was told not to rush for your -P right away, and just build up hours/experience. I pretty much plan to get my -P through the community college program, get my basic class credits (english and shit), transfer to a 4 year college (texas tech? UT-A?), get a job, get a bachelor's, get an RT or RN degree so i could eventually work on a helicopter later on. That's more of my long term goal. Short term goal? Get my lazy as fuck school to add on EMT-B, so i can save myself some time. Btw, how many hours did you have to do clinically, and how many on the trucks?
Usually any generic brand will work.
Well the thing is almost gone after putting neosporin on it since yesterday.
Facepunch. My anus... it's bleeding. When I wipe after excreting there is blood on the paper. It's been happening for a while, usually just trace amounts, but today it was proper blood. Could it just be wiping to hard/deep with cheap toilet roll? Ohgod it's never good when your butt hole bleeds.
One of my calves has managed to swell up to nearly twice it's size, and it's the same leg I had a suspected DVT in two months ago. Is it worth me seeing the out of hours GP, or am I okay waiting to see my normal GP over the next days?
red blood = haemorrhoid or minor tear - nothing to worry about, if it gets worse you can get some cream but otherwise it should take care of itself (maybe try eating a bit more fibre to make your poops softer and less painful) black blood = bleeding further up your gut, bad news, go see a doctor

Diet is generally well balanced, fibre is copious, no difficult shits lately. I honestly think it's the cheap toilet paper since my family is skint. Or possibly bad entry by the sharpie. Oh well, eat prunes, shit soft, let it heal. Thanks Dr.Facepunch!
Ok so on the inside of my upper thighs I have some red, itchy skin. I think it's jock itch but I don't know.

I'm on my second day and I'm already feeling a bit better, too.
Guess who's dick is still numb.

General rule of thumb for when to go for paramedic is to wait until you're a good EMT otherwise you won't be a good medic. From what I've heard helicopters are pretty tough to get on to. I talked to some of the Mercy Air and Upland Fire (I think they're a branch from your Reach guys) and they were saying it usually takes about 5 years depending on how good you are and where you're working. They want to see a good bit of variation in the calls you run for them to want to hire you. Not really sure about their flight nurses, but that's what the medics were telling me. You need to get several extra certs too. I was actually thinking about doing the same thing as you, -B to -P to RN. I want to go into the military after I get some experience though and do their combat medic stuff then maybe get the Army to pay for my RN or something. Shit I might even try to go for MD in the future but that's all further down the line. Plus I hear the first year or so of that is really in the books and I'm more of a hands on person. [editline]19th February 2012[/editline] Texas, that reminds me, one of the guys I was in class with was saying they were offering signing bonuses to EMTs down there. You know if there's any truth to that or what counties might be doing it?

You know if there's any truth to that or what counties might be doing it?
I don't know really much about the signing bonuses, if i was to GUESS, i would say Travis or Williams county, AKA Austin, because they treat their EMTS really well, i've heard even one of the best in the nation. and really just two 12 hour shifts? I've already done that amount on my own time, and some. I thought it was more like 4, 12 hour shifts. I remember I actually got to bump a student off the truck i was on to another truck because i was friends with the medic. In retrospect the guy was grateful later on in the day, because the other truck he got put on responded to some really interesting calls. (Face burn, and a cardiac call (patient died at the scene in a little patch of swamp near the highway, so when we walked into the station it smelled like piss and dick because the student did compressions in the muck). and yeah helicopters are rough to get on from what i've heard, my friend who was the medic just started working with Herman Life Flight in Houston, he doesn't have any other cert either i think, which raises a few questions of how he got the job. He spent a few years working 911 and working in the ER, so that is probably it.. And a large portion of RTs i've met use to work on the helicopters too, and suggest to go for it because you'll never regret it. It isn't painful at all, but it feels like my neck's arteries are really pronounced and that any second now something's going to happen. My pulse itself is normal, about 70 maybe, and i feel no pain or anything. It's hard to describe, it's just... Weird. I'm 18 yrs old, maybe a tad chubby, like baby fat style, and have no history of heart problems. I think the only lifestyle change recently has been less exercise and more sweets and fizzy drinks due to being around exam time where i consume more comfort foods. Obviously you're not in any pain, so i would wait and see if it gets worse, if it does, go to the Doc or better yet chiropractor.
any other part of you numb and tingly? that screams nerves to me is your spine uneven at all, because scoliosis can cause nerve impingement have you hurt your back, or experienced some pain at all in the last while?
i have this weird feeling in my knee, like something around there is crawling underneath the skin i know it's not just some bs nerve thing, cause when i put my hand over it, i really can feel it what is this black negro magicka
No, no shortness of breath or anything. I occasionally notice it when during the day, but usually i'm doing other things and forget about it. He can only be the one to tell you if it's stress or something else, and he can even prescribe you something to help handle with the it.
the only hair i have on my body is my pubes, armpits, and legs. my forearms have barely any and there is ZERO hair on my upper body/ass. it is kinda scary how hairless my ass is. what does this mean.
