I have a really large boil/abscess on my hand, it has a small white head the popped up this morning. I think it needs to be drained, it's golfball sized. Can i drain it myself or should I go to the ER?
I had something like that too, 2 times on my wrist, and now on my forehead.
Does it feel a bit like a thick sack with thick fluid in it? Can you move it around a little bit?
In my case all 3 of them were simple cysts. If it's the same in your case:
There's a small chance it'll simply disappear on its own, usually because of heavy lifting or something. The cyst breaks, your hand will feel strange and a bit thick for a little while, but it's nothing serious. Rather big chance it'll come back (it's been like this with the one on my forehead).
With the one on my wrist i went to the doctor, since it hindered me.
They made an ultrasonic, then gave me the option of surgically removing it, or draining with a needle. I let them drain it with a needle (about 50/50 chance for it to come back though, which happened, but it disappeared on its own again).
I know some people who had it removed surgically, still a small chance for it to come back.
I did not have to take antibiotics, as a cyst is pretty harmless.
Greasy/fatty things can induce heartburn if you aren't careful, so cut down on the junk. Also, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water, instead of drinking sugary crap all day.
That's exactly what I'm doing/already do. I have maybe one, two sodas in an entire week. Pizza and fast food are the same - if even. Would plain 'not enough water' do it? I have decent amounts of iced tea and fruit juice.

full of sugar and acidic juices, i don't imagine they help the heartburn
water is what you want

Chronic acid reflux could be the problem, it could lead to GERD. So it may just be diet, but if it's not relieved you need to see a doctor.
But if you keep getting it, take a little bit of baking soda and mix it in water to relieve heartburn. Of course if you don't have antacid.

On second thought, I asked my mum (who's a nurse), and she said get a doctor to do it, you'll need antibiotics
So, uh, fiber supplements and drinking more water should help get rid of piles, yeah?
I've had a condition in my left eye since birth where it's never centered and i can see very little out of it but it's mostly darkness.
Is there a way to fix this?, i've heard it called a lazy eye but from what i've heard a lazy eye is just the eye being off center.
Is there some kind of disease that makes people exceptionally horny? I've jizzed five times in the past twelve hours, only two of which were voluntary.

Are ingrown toenails grounds for a visit to the doctor?
Got back from the doctor, swollen seminal vesicle. Damn, I knew it hurt but I didn't know it was that :gonk:
Are ingrown toenails grounds for a visit to the doctor?
I'd say so, you risk an infection.

Hello my good man. I've suffered from ingrown toenails twice, on the same toe. Both times I went under the knife with local anaesthesia.
My brothers too.
Take a look at this picture and decide for yourself.

I know this is a bit of a bump but I have a problem in which I keep getting outer ear infections. They go away with treatment but for the week or so that they're there the pain is unbearable and I can't do much other than think about how much my ear hurts. I've had about 5 in 6 months and I can feel a current one coming on. Is there any way to just get rid of them without having to go to a doctors and use the shitty ear drops that take forever to work? Any sort of instant cure that just gets rid?
So, in my quest of purging myself of my angular cheilitis, I've been through an antibiotic cream should it be a staphylococcus infection, and I'm currently on an antifungal should it be a candida infection. I'm 4 days in on the antifungal, only small changes so far but the fungi has been sitting there for months and may be well established.

When I was younger, if I had an ingrown toenail, my granddad would just cut it out with a pair of cutters, I'm surprised I never got an infection.
So I just managed to burn my index finger around the knuckle area while removing plastic film from a lasagna dish (as part of the cooking process), while the oven was still on (at 375 degrees).
The burn area is maybe about an inch long, half an inch wide, going up from the knuckle to about half way before reaching the middle of my finger.
It was really red initially when I started running cool water on it, but now the skin has turned white and is starting to raise (which can't be good. A third degree burn on a finger); not to mention it hurts like absolute hell right now.
Am I going to die?
Help me doctor Facepunch!
Only a first degree burn, possibly superficial second degree. Now if it was a third degree burn you wouldn't feel it due to extensive nerve damage.
My ankles make crack-y noises when I twist them, it doesn't hurt but it's kind of annoying
they also make a shitload of noise sometimes from just walking, often when I'm tired or it's late and I'm barefoot
am I going to die/how do I fix it

And if it were second degree, it'd be blistering.
And if it were second degree, it'd be blistering.
Yeah, he didn't state blistering, but I assumed of the possibility.
Is it possible for my ribs to go back to normal when it had gone inward for about 3 years or so?
I had an accident 3 years ago which caused the ribs at my left side to go somewhat inward.
I really want it to get back to normal so I could enjoy breathing better and my left waist not be super slim compared to my right waist.
I had IV dye in my arm for an MRI yesterday, I have now been vomiting.
Is this a coincidence or is it a side effect.
pretty sure it's a coincidence, unless they specifically told you there could be side effects from it. if it was more than 24 hours ago i'd be doubtful
I got my wisdom teeth out 3 weeks ago and all has been going well, aside from the fact that the hole on the right side healed up fine while there is still a gaping hole in my left gum. If I look in a mirror I can see my jawbone through it. Kinda freaked me out at first, but now I think it's petty cool.

My knees do this all the time, pretty sure its just bubbles popping like when you crack your knuckles.
Every once in a while, my neck will make 6 loud cracks if i turn it to the left.
That's not good is it?
My neck cracks loudly every time I tilt my head right, probably only does it with one side because I have mild scoliosis.

Thanks Autumn.
My dick wont go erect, do I have to amputate it?
yes, through a grinder
I donated a blood sample to the hospital i volunteer at (the staff did as well) so they can benchmark their machines downstairs with health blood samples.
The head phlebotomist managed to blow everyones veins.
I got a nice tender, slightly swollen, and blue spot on my arm.
I want someone to kiss it.
Well , my problem is that i got a tonsil stone in my mouth and the smell is just horrorbil .
What do Facepunch ? :PP
