The only thing that changed is the singer(s).
The singer's the most important part of a band, in keeping consistent at least. You can change the drummers, guitarists, bassists, whatever, as long as they play the same music it's still going to sound exactly the same. Change the singer and it's going to change.
Oasis, the actual GnR, original Smashing Pumpkins.
The Mahavishnu orchestra
Metallica with Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine still in it
System Of A Down
Cliff Burton is currently suffering from a small case of death though, so I don't think he'll be playing with Metallica any time soon.

I...think I actually mixed this up with another thread...where my post was of this topic.
Wait no this was the reply that never sent, I'm dumb.
I'd love for the Floyd to come back, as well as Burton-era Metallica and Tarja-era Nightwish.
Sadly, two are impossible and one is a 99% guarantee to not happen...
Shame that it is impossible.

Best supergroup ever.
Agreed.
RIP Roy Orbison, George Harrison. I wouldn't say they "broke up," per se. Their collaboration was just something fun for a bunch of musicians who happened to all be friends. It wasn't built to last.
The Fall of Troy
At The Drive-In
Death
Considered the first ever death metal band
