Okay, so I'm bringing Jonnerz3D a Mountain Dew. Anyone else (living in the London Area) want me to bring them anything from America? I cannot guarantee that I can get it to you, but I'll try. I'll start a list: Jonnerz3D - Mountain Dew

Yeah MT Dew and Sprite are two different tastes.

Mountain Dews is completely different from sprite... Do you guys across the pond have Mellow yellow, now that is pretty much MT. Dew.

You should try out fish and chips while you're there, too.
Go to Seven Dials
Hello FP. In about 10 hours, I'm going to be going outside of this country for the first time and make a week-long trip in London. I'm very fortunate that my father decided to bring me along for a business trip, and am very excited to go! However, I don't want to wind up at really overly-priced places or get ripped off because of my ignorance. But at the same time, I don't want to go around and be a douche-bag American tourist and just make everyone Londoner's life miserable. Anything I shouldn't talk about? What about tip? Is there certain areas to avoid? Anything else that would be helpful to know? I'm not asking for a tour guide, just a little bit of advice on London. Thanks.
Being European, I'll tell you this: Hide the fact that you're American, we hate their forward attitude. In the west, people are alot more polite if so to say, and I know alot of Americans are very loud and hardly listens to people. Not everyone, far from everyone, but alot are. Oh, and, don't act all ignorant, we hate it when people act all ignorant. "Isn't like Russia shaped like a boot or something?". Trust me when I say, they'll frown you to death. [editline]07:37AM[/editline] Oh, and if someone yells "tosser", don't toss anything...
In America, most restaurants expect 15% tip. :C
I hardly ever tip here. Only if I'm in some nice restaurant and I'm impressed by the service, other then that I never tip. Once one place put a tip of 15% on the bill for me, and I demanded it to be taken off - I hate people being presumptuousness about me giving them money. If you wanna tip buskers on the underground that's cool, but don't drop anything for the skagheads you get about. No matter how dire they look. If they need money or anywhere to stay then they should go about it the right way and get on benefits. As long as you're open-minded and accepting of people you'll be fine. Have a fun trip!
I'm going to Brighton in 24 fucking hours!
Thanks for all the advice Kade :3: Edit:
Ignore any social pessimism in this thread. You don't get that many chav's in central London. Most chav's on the outskirts arn't that bad either, they just try to act intimidating. People get stabbed and shot everywhere in the world, London suburbs just have a lot more of it coz were so demographically dense. Central London is very safe, most people are tourists themselves. Do know whereabouts you're staying?
The Hyatt Regency near the Marble Arch. It's the Churchill.
Thanks for all the advice Kade :3: Edit: The Hyatt Regency near the Marble Arch
Wow, yeah, you arn't going to have any trouble anywhere near there. That's a very central location. Lots of shops on Oxford street which isn't too far from there, if shopping's your kinda thing. Really nice hotel too, you dad must have a damn good job :P
He's saved up a lot of points on American Airlines and with Hyatt to take us both (me and my bro). That's the only reason we can stay at such a nice place. Very awesome.
Go the fuck to Camden. And for fuck sake, don't try to act like a londener and talking in a bad cockney accent. youll just end up with a face full of pain.
[editline]07:37AM[/editline] Oh, and if someone yells "tosser", don't toss anything...
hahaha ....and don't say SOCCER if in fact you try and start up any friendly convos :D
Bring a picture of the sun. You'll need it.
Drink alot of tea
Thanks for the advice guys. Even the non-serious ones. :v: I'm leaving for the airport in ten minuets, so I gotta go. I'll leave another message when I'm in London.
Just got back from Camden. Pretty drunk so probably wont post much more for the evening. Just to say, I saw an American guy walking down the street, he was bald and had a white T shirt on, and he had a son next to him, blond and wearing a black T shirt, about 16 years old. I followed behind them listening to them chat, and then I ran away to another pub. I sure hope that was you.
Never volunteer for a magician act near the London eye, this guy tried to make me swallow a balloon while screaming bad jokes at me and mocking me.
Go to Brixton.
And in other news a young man was brutally mugged. raped. and murdered in brixton. [editline]09:18PM[/editline]
Here's my advice: Don't go to London. No but seriously London has patches of bad area's all over. Personally I'd recommend staying away from Brixton and Hackney at night
Hohoho brixton at night... Ooh baby.. Hohoho.. You'd get murdered in a second. [editline]09:20PM[/editline] Infact. IMO. Don't go to any non-central areas past 8pm. Really. It's just not a good idea. [editline]09:23PM[/editline]
Thanks for all the advice Kade :3: Edit: The Hyatt Regency near the Marble Arch. [editline]09:23PM[/editline]
I'm going to Brighton in 24 fucking hours!
I live near there. :v: [editline]09:24PM[/editline]
Bring a picture of the sun. don't go to london

I do have semi-blond hair, but my bro is wearing a black shirt. Got to our hotel about five ours ago, and decided to go to Piccadilly Circus and walked down Shafteburry Ave. for a bit. Lots of clubs and casinos. Then we stuggled, but evetually, found a bus going back to the Marble Arch. Our hotel is on Edgware Road, so its arab culture and hookas as far as the eye can see. :v: I'll post when I can, but so far its pretty awesome here. Tomorow thinking about going to Bloomsbury to check out the British and Cartoon museums. If you're curious, I'll be wearing a blue collared shirt. And maybe to Charing Cross Road to check out local shops and book stores. Are they resonably priced there? Or is it a rip like most of the shops I've seen in the London area?
Don't go anywhere not central at night.
If you're a smoker don't throw the filters on the ground.
Get an oyster card or week long travel card for cheaper travel (with the travel card you get infinite bus, tube and tram rides if you've got the right zone on your card) Make sure you see all the major touristy stuff during the week, earlier in the day the better Don't go and see the changing of the guard at buckingham palace - it's crap Don't talk to people on the tube, we don't want to talk to anyone on the way to and from work It might be hot here at the moment and it might be rainy or it might be both Don't eat in the touristy areas, you'll get ripped off Don't mind the grumpy locals, we're always like that, it's not because of you Don't use black cabs, get yourself a tube map and/or ask bus drivers when you get on, public transport in london is actually very good no matter what anyone will tell you (apart from at the weekends when tube lines get shut for maintenance). [editline]07:11PM[/editline] Tipping here is 10%, but if you're from the US people may expect more (sorry, but you guys made a rod for your own back there)
Tipping? Now I know for a fact tipping in GB isn't compulsory
Goto Thorpe Park. Then go on Stealth.
