wasps on the other hand....
I keep social insects too, but not the winged ones. Love entomology. Do you raise them from a mated queen, or do you have to buy mature colonies? I'd like to try keeping a bee or wasp colony sometime, it's an interesting hobby.
The best place for a wasp colony is on the sun.
Assuming that you are calm and don't flap your arms around, there is no reason why you should get stung. I once lived in close proximity to a wasp hive for a while, and they never harmed anyone. Fun fact: Bees, wasps, hornets and ants cannot see red.
Do you remember the first time you got stung? What would you compare the pain to? I'd really like to get my fear of bees and stuff sorted out, it's been too much of a hindrance in my life.
Have you tried that thing where you put a bee in a little black box and it goes blind and produces its weight worth of honey ?
Are queens easily identifiable from the rest? Are they alot bigger?
If the rule is "Leave it alone and it'll leave you alone", why the fuck do bees, out of all the sky in the world, decide to only fly around your face?
Bees see flowers by the fluorescent patterns they emit semen is fluorescent. so just wash your face in the morning and they'll leave you alone.
If the rule is "Leave it alone and it'll leave you alone", why the fuck do bees, out of all the sky in the world, decide to only fly around your face? Also, can you teach bees things? If so, teach them this rule, I don't think they know yet.
They are attracted to sweat and other stuff. And i don't think you can teach them anything (didn't try).
then how come whenever i swim these shitheads like to stay above the water waiting WATCHING
You could be swimming in their source of water where they drink and they are like BRO CMON STOP SPLASHING WE WANNA DRINK.
Have you ever fell on one of the hives and scared the shit out of the bees?
Nope.
My father owns bees too. How long have you been doing it?
I'm 22 so that would be around 16 years.
If you do get paid, how much? Is it worth it?
Lets say 3 tons a year selling 2 tons to distributor at 4$ per kilo and local 6$ per kilo, that's around 14000$ a year.
Have you tried that thing where you put a bee in a little black box and it goes blind and produces its weight worth of honey ?
Never heard of this but il check it out.
Are queens easily identifiable from the rest? Have you ever placed a queen bee on you to make a suit of bees and went to the nearest Neo-Nazi/Westboro Baptist Church meeting?
When you tell people what you do for a living how many people make terrible bee puns?
When you tell people what you do for a living how many people make terrible bee puns?
They usually just beehave.
They usually just beehave.
Me beeuno
On the topic of motherfucking useless, assholic, scumbag, dickish wasps: Do you ever get wasp crusades against your bees? I know that wasps will often attack bees (and usually win, sadly) and eat them for food. Sometimes assaulting entire hives if its possible. I guess a smaller bee hive might be more vulnerable. If no, then what other natural predators make your day-to-day work a pain in the ass? Assuming an animal actually wants to piss off a box of 2000 bees.
We have no wasp problems, european hornets on the other hand.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_hornet They are like 3 times bigger then wasps.
At least you aren't in Japan.
How much honey do you produce?
Do you have a favorite bee?
I put a drone (males that don't sting) in my suit every time i go there.
Have you ever seen the bees containing a scout wasp into a bee wall and then raising the temps to over 50 deg cel with added CO2 concentration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_giant_hornet
Why do the bees sting if they are gonna die? (assuming it's about Honey Bees)
Have you ever seen the bees containing a scout wasp into a bee wall and then raising the temps to over 50 deg cel with added CO2 concentration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_giant_hornet
No and what ^ he said.
Bees did 9/11
To defend the hive? If a bee dies when they sting, they can be replaced. If the hive has been sacked and destroyed, there will be no more bees. Sacrifice a few bees to save thousands.
Why does a wasp or hornet not die after breaching your skin's defenses with sting ?
Wasp just stings you and release a small amount of poison. Bees rip out their intestines and whole poisons sacks when they sting you.
Has a bee ever stung your penis
How intense does the sound of all the bees get when you're working?
Wasp just stings you and release a small amount of poison. Wasp's sting is excruciatingly painful.
can I buy some honey comb from you?
Has a bee ever stung your penis
Thankfully no.
How intense does the sound of all the bees get when you're working?
It can get really loud sometimes.
can I buy some honey comb from you?
If you come to Croatia sure why not.
