I've watched what feels like hundreds of these and conclude that this is his best one or maybe just catchiest/simple...
I'm glad you posted something from Antares. Any of their other albums and I would have to disagree.
I'm glad he chose Neurodrive. Antares as a whole was fairly disappointing to me, after Slave Design, with the exceptions of Neurodrive, Orbital, and 12 Megatons Gravity. Every other song on that album is fairly bleh for me. Don't get me started on The Pulse of Awakening, though. It's a good album, but I just don't much care for it - they furthered the path they went down on Antares, which I didn't really agree with. I'm hoping their new album starts to pull back toward Slave Design. Not holding my breath, though.

[editline]6th March 2012[/editline] And no prog metal or djent or math metal or anything will compare to the gods of it.

I'm getting really excited for the new Contortionist album
featuring devin townsend and fredrik thordendal
Had the opporunity to see them on the weekend but missed them because another band I wanted to see was running late D: Still saw Devy and Meshuggah though. Shit was amazing.
still not as good as dillinger escape plan
still not as good as dillinger escape plan
I saw the last 20 minutes or so of them. They are quite seriously insane. The guitarist whacked his guitar into the PA while playing, then jumped on top of it and did a roll back onto the stage, completely fucking up his nose in the process. The bottom half of his face had blood all over it by the end of the show. Also the singer disassembled the drum kit while the drummer was playing...
still not as good as dillinger escape plan
Gojira are way groovier imo.

https://www.facebook.com/Hacktivistband/app_178091127385 I couldn't find a lot of their videos but hackTO TEST is one of the best ambient tracks i've heard in a while.

I genuinely feel bad for the people who can't appreciate them/think they're just noise. whenever they release their new album or EP or whatever and start touring the US again I'm seeing them live for sure. hopefully in a basement with little to no security.

I've never had the pleasure. They are definitely on my list of bands to see.

The singer kept trying to crowd surf and the bastards wouldn't let him. They are a really awesome band, and their stage presence and live playing is some of the best I've seen.
I stumbled across a little prog metal / hardcore-y band on Ultimate Guitar forums by accident. They gave away their EP for free for a while, but its on iTunes now. Prophets: Three Dog Agressor Digits I really dig the sound they've got going. Also, Structures, Volumes, AAL, Periphery are awesome. I'm just getting into the genre; and also if you haven't listened to Exoplanet by The Contortionist, you should, it's fucking brilliant.
featuring devin townsend and fredrik thordendal
2:09 caught me by surprise, sounds badass though

CANNOT wait for the new album. Been listening to this on repeat a lot lately. I just can't seem to get enough of it :v:
god i can't fucking WAIT for KOLOSS. Gonna be a great album.
i dunno shit about prog metal or djent but i love me some math rock (well that's a lie i know a little about prog metal but it's not my favorite) but shit here's some of my favorite math rock (spoilers a lot of math rock is really emo): yo man i know this shit don't really fit with everything else but it's pretty dope
Giraffes? Giraffes! are so fucking mental. Such a good band.
Their new album isn't out yet. They've only released a teaser and a music video thus far. The song for the music video is called "Grace." The teaser video is good too. Here we go.
This is fucking legit. I listened to Grace too. Instant fan. [editline]10th March 2012[/editline]
I'm sorry I enjoy music that's a little bit beyond "oh hey lets tune our guitars down two steps and then play in pentatonic minor and harmonic minor that's never been done. Yay and we can slap some horrible vocals over top too to get some main stream appeal" But you know, simple brains like simple music I guess?
I also feel the need to point out that this is one of the most painful things I've read on this forum.
I'm interested in checking out more Gojira and Absent Distance. Thanks for the heads up guys.
I see some bands missing in this topic! I'm a huge fan of prog metal, therefore BTBAM Also, math rock woot! Not for everyone but I really enjoy them. Djent! And obviously animals as leaders but they have already been mentioned, seeing Tosin live is AMAZING! Some more prog metal. Holy Sweeps. Speaking of sweeps... a bit outside the genres mentioned on the thread however still amazingly awesome. I think thats enough for now.
I am still beat up about The Human Abstract breaking up. I was suppose to see them live with Scale The Summit and they called off the show and then two months later they announced a break up.
