I also hate Russia for taking control of my country, same with the Sweden/Finland and England/Ireland.

I stopped reading when the article you referenced pointed out that America is a democracy.
It's not. On those grounds alone, you and the author effectively discredit yourselfs and the entire point you both tried to make.

It's a representative democracy, but it's still a democracy. You might have mixed it up with something else.
thisispain, you dont want socialism. Trust me.

Also known as a republic, related, but distinct from a democracy.

Welcome to the social. :v:
It's worth noting that pretty quickly after the Russian Revolution "the secret police, flogging, exile to Siberia, and the death penalty" all came roaring back in short order, and "full freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, unions, and strikes" became a dream once more. Of course, this being Russia during the Stalinist era, your mileage may vary on the subject.
I agree, the argument that Lenin's Russia was far more "communist" than Stalin's is worth making.

Well then maybe you should not have let Hitler be elected Chancellor, and not start World War 2, and then not lose, so that you don't have to have East Germany. And the Soviet Union was not just Russia.
Someone said that they felt that they were less "free" when the government forced them to "pay" for others issues.
There are several fundamental problems with that statement.
First of all, freedom is a very vague word. Blood has been shred over it, but its meaning is hard to define. For you it seems like it's not freedom but control. You want your money for yourself, and no one should tell you what to do with them. That has nothing to do with freedom.
To be free is to say, mean and think what you want. To be free is to be able to do as you want. In this sense, no one is totally free because of laws, but laws exists for a reason.
The second problem is that the government "forces" you to do something. Wrong. No one is forcing you to do anything. You are a free person and if you don't like it, you can find somewhere else to live. No one is forcing you to live were you live, it is entirely your own choice (given you are above 18 or whatever age it is)
The third problem is that you think that you pay for others issues. That is not completely true, because you are paying for your own too. I can go out, today, and break my legs, and I will get all of the treatment for "free". Everything from fixing the leg, to gypsum, to training is payed by the state, which is payed by my taxes.
Some day, when I get kids, I know that they too will get the same treatment.
It's social security in its purest form. I don't care that I have to pay more than 50% in taxes or 25% in VAT for that, to me that is peanuts for what I get.
As long as I'm not working to fund government sponsored terrorism with close to 40% of my paycheck being put into taxes, I'm happy.
I'm not happy when I lose $170 on every $500 earned weekly. That's complete bullshit when the majority of it is going into programs that will never benefit me. It's not being greedy, I worked hard for my money and it's bullshit that the government can take that huge of a chunk of it and use it to fight frivolous wars all over the world.
Hell, the majority of my money is probably just going to fund Obama's alcoholism. Could we get a real president while we're in the process of switching to a socialist economy?
I don't believe in labels, especially when it comes to politics, but social democracy seems to be a system that I could see working well. Case in point is Scandinavia and the other social democratic countries.
Please, stop treating Denmark, Sweden and Norway as the same country. We are similar, but it's comparable to call Europe a country.
The current monetary system on the earth will lead us to our eventual destruction
Socialism is much better then Democracy, in my opinion. After all, at many times the citizens can be absolute fucktards who don't know anything better than what propaganda tells them.
Just look at Westboro Church, PETA, and many other incidents where retards get their religion and views involved with politics.
Socialism and democracy don't exclude each other.
nationalism is the best...
heil!
What a sophisticated post.
Living in norway, an oil fuelled socialist paradise, i have my problems with the concept of a socialist state.
I can see how a hybrid does work, but the current red-green government of norway is a wasteful failure. They're spending our national oil-savings and their bucketloads of tax money of all kinds of ridiculous shit.
I'm definately voting for the liberal people's party when i come of age, to at least get them a seat in the storting.

First off... Norway's NOT a socialistic country.
Social Democracy.
The socialistic parties in Norway oppose the government you hate. And no... What you call SV are not socialists. Read: Social Democrat.
Does America's system work? No. (Only for the rich, I guess.)
Is that fair? No.
Want that in Norway (or any other country)? Then you're quite ignorant.
Enjoy your capitalistic system when you get shipped off to the streets because you can't pay insurance.
