MGS5, the story just died and the maps just get old after a while. You got desert and savannah, that's it. FO4 also falls into the same trap with the god awful story, but at least the locations are a lot more varied. Both had great gameplay, but utterly lackluster story in MGS's case and a forgettable one for FO4.
Fallout 4 Aliens: Colonial Marines Alien Resurrection Dead Island Prometheus

you guys dont know that pain that ive felt with paper mario sticker star
Hateful 8
Dishonored looked to be one of the best stealth games ever made, then I got it and I straight up hated it. Never played an easier AAA stealth game, huge let down.
It's been said, but Fallout 4. Questionable writing and quests aside, it still suffers from many things that hindered my enjoyment of F3 and NV, those being: Bullet sponges that take one shot to kill once you're at a high level, extremely poor UI, boring fetch-quests, in addition to having its own unique annoyances with regards to the settlement building and weapon customisation. If weapon customisation had a bit more depth to it than the choices of "Make it automatic but slightly weak" or "make it more powerful but semi", it'd have been way better; For example the Laser Rifle is extremely diverse in terms of the roles it can fulfill; It can be a precision, high-ish damage weapon, it can be a shotgun, it can be a continuous beam etc. Most of the legendary effects would've made more sense as weapon mods too, had they kept the ammo type system from NV it would've added even more depth to the materials economy - Do I sacrifice these resources to make some explosive ammo, or do I save them for this next upgrade etc I could go more in depth but I've already said all there is to say on it
Paper mario sticker star.
Pac-Man. I found the gameplay to be too repetitive.
Pokemon X and Y was okay, but it fell flat in a lot of ways Plants vs. Zombies 2 was pure and total shit, fuck you EA
Payday 2 I went from loving the first one to hating this piece of shit Wish I could get my money back for it but steam's full of shitters
Guardians of the Galaxy. See my title is not about the movie, it's about the 2008 comic series. Now at the time the movie was incredible, and I still think it was a great movie and I wouldn't mind to watch it again, but compared to what the older comics have done, the movie is really boring and uninteresting. Lots of wasted potential. That and they got the characters pretty wrong
Payday 2. I did love it, almost more than any other game, but then Overkill killed it dead with DLC and microtransactions and I couldn't bring myself to play anymore because I was just constantly bothered by the bullshit.
Golden Sun 3 Way too easy, no battle mode, hard mode, new game plus, no save data transfer. It fell short in so many ways compared to The Lost Age. The graphics were nice though.
Also the story. It's like they were writing a story for a completely unrelated game, then the company heads were like "Everyone knows new things don't sell! It has to be a sequel to something! Hey, those losers have been asking for another Golden Sun game for how many years now? Make it a Golden Sun game." At least there were some pretty good music pieces. Speaking of failed JRPG sequels: Tales of Symphonia 2 and Lunar Dragon Song. Both had laughably terrible stories, the latter more so.
Avatar The movie was basically an advertisement for IMAX Real D 3D and was a carbon copy of the Pocahontas story
Brink.
Destiny, what a pathetic excuse of a game.
MGS5 for me, I'll spoil this just in case. [SP]I feel like the trailers showed a completely different game. And the amount of cut content is astounding even when stuff is left like Ocelot telling you to customize the battle gear and use it but you can really only use it in deployments you don't see. Same with anything revolving quiet. Kojima said you'd be ashamed of your words and deeds and that her appearance is justified but honestly her photosynthesis seemed more like an excuse for the outfit than anything else. The game just didn't have what made MGS fantastic for me. The cutscenes never felt like the long drawn out slideshow history things in the past games. I never felt like I was that interested in the plot and some parts like the skullface jeep sequence were just so downright awkward and bad that they pulled me out of the game so much. The skulls were never a good replacement for the series' normal boss units. No resolutions with Eli at all, etc. I just hated the experience of waiting for the game to come into its own instead of the tutorial missions with identical content to the side ops but it never happened. Not to mention the gameplay was pretty good, but the open options made it piss easy. And buddy's like quiet or upgraded d-walker with the capture canon trivialized tons of content until the last mission with quiet with the sniper tank that's so unfair and unlike anything else in the game. Honestly, I don't know what happened that Kojima prioritized spending money on kiefer which had very little dialog or all the admittedly cool music led to Konami getting so frustrated that they pretty much rushed the end of the content and put him on termination vacation.[/SP]
Metro Last Light. I see that they made some improvements to the gameplay compared to the first game but overall I feel like it's inferior to the first game. It's lost a lot it's magic and atmosphere. Except that railcart section, it's great.
Gravity - I still don't understand the high ratings and praise for it, it was NOT good. Fallout 4 - lots of bugs made it absolutely unplayable for me MGS V: The Phantom Pain - as a HUGE MGS fan... a massive letdown Black & White Spore Far Cry 3 - All characters except Vaaz were bland, VERY badly written and one dimensional Far Cry 2 - The biggest bore in my life... but an amazing pyromaniac simulator Jurassic World - I just didn't like it at all. It had a great buildup but in the end, it felt very lazy and abrupt almost every new Kirby game released - they just become slower and slower and just boring Watch_Dogs Dead Island - yeah that trailer promised more than it was Crysis 2 Project CARS - barely any content, the racing tracks were terribly undetailed, it was a big marketing show and sortly after release, they announced Project CARS 2 Namco/Bandai 2011 - Ace Combat Assault Horizon, Ridge Racer Unbounded... the hell are you guys doing with your beloved franchises? The Simpsons Movie - No character feels like in the show, everything feels pointless and without any consequence
The Simpsons Movie - No character feels like in the show, everything feels pointless and without any consequence
But wasn't the series already like that by that point? Really though, the movie was literally just an extended (and badly done) episode. Oh boy, Homer learns to appreciate his family for the two-hundredth time. I bet it'll stick this time... wait, no it doesn't.
John Wick
Gravity. I can understand why people like this movie, but very nice CGI isn't enough, you kind of need a screenplay, and their screenplay was shit.
Spore: Obvious choice seeing as how 3 people have already picked it so far. Still really like the game for what it is though. Starbound: First game that taught me never to trust Early Access ever. Content in comparison to Terraria and other sandbox games is really lackluster, overall lacks any sort of polish.
Oh yeah, Jurassic World. (Incoming rant/plot spoilers) [sp]I liked it but so many parts were totally out of place, especially with the kids. Some examples were the older brother constantly staring at girls like a horny little creep. I mean sure, it's his character, but even then they draw that shit out uncomfortably long. Then, out of nowhere, the younger brother starts sobbing their eyes out with "mom and dad are getting a divorce :'(((" and it's never brought up again. Ever. Also I have the biggest bone to pick with one of the first parts where the Indominus Rex "escapes" containment because thermal didn't pick it up so they're like "hurrr go in and check if it's there" and then "it's escaped!! use the TRACKING CHIP TO FIND IT", like why the fuck didn't you do that before sending people in! Also, whatever happened with Gen Tech or whatever that crazy military group people were who took all the stuff? Are they setting up a sequel or did they forget after the raptor ate their spokesman?[/sp] tl;dr I still liked it but christ, some parts were just dumb.
Starbound Thief Fallout 4 Watch Dogs Ender's Game Far Cry 3 Dead Island Pokemon X and Y Oh and a classic: Star Fox Adventures. Took me over 10 years to finish the game, and all I got was a lousy and ridiculously dumb and frustrating ending.
Dark Souls. Several friends hyped it up to be the greatest thing ever and when I finally played it I found it fun but it was unable to live up the utterly unrealistic expectations that had been set for it.
Smash 4. It's a decent enough game, better than Brawl for sure, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype in my eyes. I know some people like it now, but I don't think it'll have the staying power that Melee has had over the years.
MGSV Hitman Absolution Rome total war 2 The most recent purchases that were not what I expected. It was pretty easy to spot that all other AAA's were over-hyped. I was surprised about the amount of Fallout 4 mentions in this thread. I don't know what people expected to be disappointed. I expected a turd, but I got a pretty fun game. As a fallout 1 fanatic, I was really mad about the dialogue and lack of RPG elements, but we knew that since E3, and that is a lot of time to grief before release.
