Spintronics guys.Spintronics.
Electronics is laaate.
Why were you looking at external graphics cards? They suck shit.
The future is iPad!
not a bad idea
I don't care what the future of computers is, so long as apple isn't part of it.
Considering that this computer is about the size of your average book, I think this is possible

I have one and I take it with me sometimes, depending on where i'm going

Cloud computing will be the name of the game as soon as America gets better bandwidth.
jeez, you american's moan about everything. i have a capped internet. 40gb a month, and thats the business account! up until a few months ago it was only 20gb! and out speeds are atrocious. i get 120kb/s and some of my friends went down to 15 at one point! >: ( what really is a kick in the balls is that out ISP won a bloody award.......arseholes......
internal gpu's are just getting bigger, my 9800gtx barely fits in the case, but hd5970 won't :saddowns:
Physical PCB size yes, but the individual parts e.g. transistors are smaller
Current video cards have like what a billion transistors?
The future is 3D porn and Sex Bots.
Such a fitting avatar.
I cant wait for USB 3.0 and PCIe 3.0 graphics cards.
Could the be! Upgradable graphics cards for laptops!!
Photonics are the future.
they'll be efficient and small as fuck, seeing as they give out no heat, and circuits are easy to make and stack in layers as you could just etch them onto a polymer sheet with a laser.
now, imaging how big your router is
now look at this:

a Photonic router.

That looks boring I'd rather have my sleek belkin over that anyday.

The only capital worth anything there is RGPs and AK47s :smug:
how about firewire instead of usb?
usb 3.0?
How about FireWire instead of USB?
yeah so all 10 people on the planet who still own firewire devices can use them?
I think the big thing which is going to happen is that the materials will change and the methods of using those materials to accomplish a CPU will change in such ways that it's hard to even imagine how the future CPUs will look like. If you take a look at the intel pentium 3 you'll get what i mean.
External components are a stupid idea in my opinion. They just take up space and make the data have to travel a further distance thereby increasing latency.
The future is quantum computing fyi.
The future is quantum computing fyi.
quantum computing has limited applications fyi.
For all of those talking about everything getting smaller: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law
OnT I don't see the purpose of external components. I want my computer to be a computer, not 10
I cant wait till we all eat lazorz and have iPads in our brains

What the shit is this?
It seems that whenever someone estimates computing in the future by going far and above anything they'd expect, their expectations are still under par when the time comes.
Everything is getting smaller. [THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE SAID]
And why would you ever want an external one. Internal GPUs are faster. And I mean faster in means of data transfer. A USB port can only send/receive so much data.
Most external GPU's have a firewire 2.0 ports and soon to be 3.0. VERY FAST. But not as fast as a internal PCI-e :C
