Just spit up your phlegm. If you keep swallowing it it's gonna stay in your throat.
I'm not phlehmy I'm coughy.
Same. Still getting this caugh like trying to cough out something from the very depths of my lungs. On a side note, I just got a cold. Meh.
"Swine flu kills extremely young/old people" Holy fuck.. really? Just like every other flu that you simply sweat out in your life? The shot's probably just a sedative to make people chill the fuck out... The newspapers needed something to fill their pages with. Without swine flu or soldiers dying in <country>, It would just be obituaries and dating ads.
Now I stay in school even though I'm sick, if I have a fever or something.
I'm sure all your schoolmates really appreciate you bringing your sickness to school. They'll sure be thanking you when they have a fever and are vomiting. If your sick, please stay home. What is so hard about that?
it's a government conspiracy. like aids.
IF the swine flew were to spread to 1/3 of the US(Just the US)'s population, and killed one in a thousand, you'd get an expected death toll of 100 000. Based on what wiki says: "in the US it appears that for every 1000 people who get infected, about 40 people need admission to hospital and about one person dies." That's more than twice what the seasonal flew kills, how about you put this to the world's population? 6 billion, 1/3 infection rate is 2 billion people, projected mortality 2 million people. And that's if this flew doesn't develop a way to kill more efficiently. I'm still glad that a vaccine was available such a short time after detection. And yes, Swine flu kills extremely young and really old people, but it also kills people 22-45 years old, which the seasonal flew RARELY does.
Your opinions > My doctors opinion I'll take Dr. Harris's opinion when he says 'trust me, you're better off with the shot.'
I agree, when it comes to my health, I'd trust my doctor over a FP'er any day. Anyone who thinks the vaccine is some kind of government run conspiracy is an idiot, and you only help spread the disease. I admit I was unsure how safe it would be a month or so ago, but they did a ton of testing (more so than the normal flu vaccine that tons of people get every year) and I decided it was worth it. I even got the live spray (normal flu) with my H1N1 shot and I've been fine for almost 2 weeks now. [editline]12:01PM[/editline]
Now I stay in school even though I'm sick, if I have a fever or something.
i hate people like you
I'll get it if they're doing them at school or something but not gonna actively seek one out.
My whole family got it (not me since I live on my own), took two days to recover and got back to business as usual. What a crock of shit.
Viruses like this come back stronger in the winter.
I think it's a very serious case because Fox News sounded very serious about it. ... Nah just kidding. I think it's a disgrace to humanity that so many people take it seriously.
I think it's a very serious case because Fox News sounded very serious about it. ... Nah just kidding. I think it's a disgrace to humanity that so many people take it seriously.
sorry that people take diseases that can kill you seriously
Yet another person who doesn't get why people are so cautious about it. It has pandemic potential. This means it can spread extremely easily because people have no immunity to it. Imagine if 1/3 of the population had swine flu at any one time because it were allowed to spread, it would fucking decimate the economy and anyone who thinks all the swine flu stuff is hype is a retard. Sure it may not kill you but it sure can do serious damage to civilisation and put us back in an even deeper recession than we just left. How likely it is to kill you is irrelevant. Even if the chance of death is extremely low the exponential spreading pattern would mean millions would die anyway.
my personal view on swine flu? overhyped bollocks. i am also very skeptical of anyone who claims to have had it, without having it verfied by a doctor.
Just spit up your phlegm. If you keep swallowing it it's gonna stay in your throat.
er, if you swallow it, it's gonna go down your oesophagus and into your stomach. swallowing won't keep it in your throat.
er, if you swallow it, it's gonna go down your oesophagus and into your stomach. swallowing won't keep it in your throat.
In most cases the acid in your stomach will kill most things anyway, not sure about the swine flu.
I go with Maddox.
Swine Flu was just like normal flu for me. I just took the Tamiflu and I was completly fine within the week. Everyone is different so you can't really generalise.
Swine Flu was just like normal flu for me. I just took the Tamiflu and I was completly fine within the week.
As I said in my post, the significant fact about swine flu is not its potency in killing or causing suffering, but its ability to spread.
Well as I said you can't generalise. Different people will have stronger Immune Systems than others. [editline]06:18PM[/editline]
Viruses like this come back stronger in the winter.
People's immune systems weaken in the winter.
You don't really get how vaccines work do you [editline]07:01AM[/editline] So, extrapolating from these points, there's no point in the normal vaccine? I mean, it's just normal flu. And a seasonal Flu vaccine will give you minor symptoms. [editline]07:06AM[/editline] I got the H1N1 vaccine yesterday, they hype about it being horrible is bullshit. I didn't even get the shot, I got the nasal spray, which is a live version of H1N1. I got nauseous for ten minutes, and I hadn't eaten anything except some cereal, meaning that it was probably unrelated to the vaccine.
The problem is not how the vaccine works (which works like all vaccines work, durrrr), but instead, why are you taking a rushed, semi-untested vaccine, which the side effects aren't really known, only to make you be ill for 3 days instead of 5, if you get the flu? If you suffer from some chronic disease or something that compromises your health, fine, those 2 days are important, but my health is not at risk, why should I take it? At least for me, its not worth the risk (if it exists). My mother is a nurse, and like many health-care professionals, she refused to take it, simply because there are people who need it more, and the risk, which is unknown. Obviously, you are completely biased since you already took the vaccine, and cant go back.
My whole family got it (not me since I live on my own), took two days to recover and got back to business as usual. What a crock of shit.
So they had the normal flu? :downs: The difference between the normal Flu and H1N1 is that H1N1 has a ferociously exponential spreading pattern, as well as a longer lifespan and incubation period. These all correlate to a much faster spread, which is why the initial death rate estimates had been so high; not because of the fact that people would die easily, but rather hundreds of millions would get infected, thus even a small percentage would be astronomical. People don't realize that almost every confirmed case of H1N1 has an incubation period of approximately 3-5 days, as well as a lifespan of 5-7 days. So when people go "Hurr I had it for 2 days and got better :downs:" Then you're simply talking out of your ass. [editline]03:02PM[/editline] Honestly they were probably still infected and lost the fever so they spread the infection throughout their work area.
I've never had the flu and I don't expect to now, seeing how paranoid everyone is being, I'd have to be very unlucky to even meet someone sick.
The flu shot is just to give you the flu so supposedly you don't get it later... ..I got it one year and then got the flu later that year. Anyways, I don't think anyone should get it. Even if it does prevent the MEXICAN flu, you'll still be infected with it if your system doesn't fight the "dead" virus that they inject you with.
The flu shot is just to give you the flu so supposedly you don't get it later... ..I got it one year and then got the flu later that year.
I've had flu shots multiple times in my life and never caught the flu from them. It is possible to catch a flu despite vaccination, as there are many different strains of flu and any given vaccine only covers so many types of them.
ITT : I'll rather die of swine flu than take a shot, because i'm such a rebel
sorry that people take diseases that can kill you seriously
The flu has even been around when we didn't even know what a flu was. And the swine flu is exactly like a normal flu.
My opinion? Swine Fail. The media just jumped on this flu because it gives them something to report. Every single day. :/ What most people realize is that MILLIONS die in the US from the REGULAR seasonal flu every year, yet nobody is worried about that one. Not that I don't respect the fact that this thing could mutate and spread amazingly fast, because I do. It's just that everyone's paranoid about it. Get the shot. (Although I believe the government did a crappy job manufacturing too little vaccine and saying ITS READY ITS READY GO GET IT)
Flu* [editline]12:40PM[/editline] And it's all bullshit.

Question: if I had this swine flu and got better, will vaccine do anything?
