Not for nothing OP but I really believe that disagrees should subtract from the agrees.
11 disagrees, 9 agrees
Yeah, I think that's a sound principle to work off especially if disagrees outrank agrees.

It's just nominations for now so I just want to include albums in the voting that people actually want to choose. If an album is disliked by the majority it'll just sink to the bottom during voting anyways.
Also I don't want to do math
It's simple addition.
Plus Justice suck
It's simple addition.
Plus Justice suck
They don't suck imo but Cross is waaaayyyy over-rated round these parts.
No, I know exactly what you mean. Whether the bands in the list are mainstream or not is irrelevant, how many collaborative "best ever" lists do you see those bands anywhere near?
I did a quick search on Porcupine Tree and Fear of a Blank Planet is in ProgArchives' top 100 albums. And like every one of their albums are on the what.cd best albums of the year/decade/century/whatever.
One Mastodon album is on /mu/'s essentials and also on what.cd's top 100 albums of the decade.
Both artists have thousands of snatches on every album. Does that really sound obscure to you? If you need a comparison, Please Please Me, The Beatles' debut album, has less snatches than Fear of a Blank Planet.
I did a quick search on Porcupine Tree and Fear of a Blank Planet is in ProgArchives' top 100 albums. And like every one of their albums are on the what.cd best albums of the year/decade/century/whatever.
Why in gods name are so opposed to this?
It's something to do to see Facepunch's average thought about albums.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks your objections to this are entirely baseless
Also you using Porcupine Tree's presence on prog archives or what.cd are fuck off stupid, progarchives is a celebration of the progressive genre which isn't mainstream in the slightest and of course Porcupine Tree would be on there considering they are one of the foundations of the 3rd wave progressive rock music that started in the 90's and Steve Wilson has been going strong ever since, and progarchives would also revile about half the albums on Facepunch's list, especially Duke by Genesis because they think anything Phil Collins is blasphemy. The same would go for the what.cd list. You would never find either Mastodon or Porcupine Tree in the top 100's list in a magazine like Rolling Stone.
And lets be fair in a progarchives list of course a prog album is going to get more than please please me
Seriously, those were the worst pieces of evidence I have ever heard. This is an FP list. If you don't like it why not take the higher road and just not be in the thread?

Now let's take a look at Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison. It is also in an /mu/ essentials list, but specific to progressive rock. It is also in ProgArchives' top 100 albums, which is pretty good. Number of snatches? Under 200.
I'm replying to someone who tried to tell me that Porcupine Tree was obscure, you idiot. Way to call somebody a shitposter when insults are the first thing you throw at him/her. And don't call me a hypocrite because I said you were an idiot, that was totally called for.

Porcupine Tree were obscure for a very long time, its only in the last two albums they've really become more well-known, and still not many people have heard of them. They're not internationally renowned or well known at all. Even if you want to argue out their obscurity this isn't the thread to do it in
also I have read every single one of your posts and they don't make very good points sorry
Also hipster logic
"All these albums are too mainstream therefore this list will be bad"
I did a quick search on Porcupine Tree and Fear of a Blank Planet is in ProgArchives' top 100 albums. And like every one of their albums are on the what.cd best albums of the year/decade/century/whatever.

The problem with your logic is that good, well-known albums will rise to the top because more of Facepunch has heard them. Take Arcade Fire for example: they're well-known and Funeral is considered to be one of the best albums of the decade by a lot of sites/lists. Not a surprise that it got nominated because a lot more people heard about it and checked it out because of all the acclaim it received. A lot of people here have heard and like that album, therefore it deserves to be on the list, as it represents Facepunch. If you want people here to listen to (or in this case nominate) the albums that you think are best, make a thread, or recommend them in the recommend an album thread. It doesn't really matter how you do it, but if you're expecting any of those to get nominated here, where only a small handful of people besides you (or none at all, I don't really know) have heard them and you make no effort to get people to listen to them or enjoy them, I don't see why you're mad that more well known albums are getting nominated. Also if you don't like the idea of this thread, its probably best if you just left instead of complaining about how you don't like it because none of your albums get nominated.

Rate me dumb, you sure showed me!
i'm pretty sure progressive rock is completely in the mainstream so porcupine tree being a popular band isn't a very baseless claim.
it completely sold out the warfield in san francisco.

My friend told me it's the same guy from Muse.
of course this is gonna be pretty generic and full of mu core and all that but it's still fun to see this be made. no reason to really make a big deal out of anything :l

Porcupine Tree has a really loyal fanbase compared to most, but prog is still pretty obscure itself, Porcupine Tree is one of, if not the most popular new prog bands of the 21st century
Prog was mainstream in the 70's and by the 80's it was pretty much social suicide to admit you liked prog - I wouldn't call it mainstream but its having a renaissance for sure
