that list is a compilation of the same old uninteresting well-known english-language albums we've all seen thousands of times not to diss but you can find all of this in any top x albums list, because anything original that anybody posts will be buried underneath the mainstream stuff that people actually listened to and if it WAS supposed to be a popularity contest then i'm not sure how it's different from a random top albums list.
Each person is still going to have a favourite album, and in my opinion they should nominate it even if nobody's going to vote for it. I actually think this is quite balanced, I mean (not to shamelessly promote) in how many top albums lists do you see Porcupine Tree, Animals as Leaders, Karnivool, Isis and Mastodon alongside Radiohead, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and the Beatles? What you've said is already invalidated by the current nominations. It's already very much well-rounded in terms of obscure vs well known. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline] Not saying any of the bands I listed are particularly obscure but they aren't exactly common knowledge.
They are ALL the best. Even that last one (Yanqui UXO) that is not as good.
Yea they're all extremely good, Slow Riot and Lift Your Skinny Fists happen to be my favorites, F#A# just gets a little too long towards the end of Providence even though the first two songs are amazing, and Yanqui just isn't up to par with the other albums, still a phenomenal post-rock album and a landmark album at that.
Well what did you expect ? Hey, what's good stays good. Albums like Dark Side of the Moon are popular for a reason you know.
so what, ezekiel by itoiz, si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison by harmonium and re by café tacvba are all amazing and among the most highly recognized progressive rock (for the first two) and rock en español (for re) albums ever, but hardly anybody knows those around here because english forum [editline]5th October 2011[/editline]
Each person is still going to have a favourite album, and in my opinion they should nominate it even if nobody's going to vote for it.
Porcupine Tree and Mastodon
They're very popular in the "other" music world. Much more than you think...

Tabarnaco I don't see what the issue is. This never claimed to be an attempt at critically listing the best albums ever, just people's favourites. It's called 'Facepunch's top album nominations' for a reason.
Albums like Dark Side of the Moon are popular for a reason you know.
Well it's mainstream that's why. You can say it's the best ever piece of music, but there's plenty in obscurity that might be musically better.
