Because perfection is boring as hell.
The existence of boredom is a flaw. The existence of blandness is a flaw. Not in the things that cause them, but the reaction itself.
The perfect being does not grow tired, does not grow old. A perfect being would be born with wisdom as animals are born with the ability to walk.
Because perfection is boring as hell.
Continuing on this note, if I were capable of creating anything, reality would be my sandbox. I wouldn't create perfection; I already would be perfect, and anything perfect has the potential to defeat me and take my place. I'd rather just make things happen and see how it plays out.
Ever played around in the ArmA II editor? Nothing makes you feel like God himself more than creating huge wars just for the hell of it.

Lets hope doriol does not see that.
"Leave people to believe whatever they want, that's all there is to it okay?"
I have no fucking clue how people can say this. People's beliefs are very important. Knowing what motivates people is very important. Your stance on whether we should stone people to death or not is very important.
EDIT: And it's very aggravating trying to understand people (E.G. being the open minded person they want me to be) when you hit this wall of shit.
I don't understand your point. Are you advocating control of beliefs? i.e. people shouldn't be allowed to be a Christian? Or am I misunderstanding you?

The problem is that as long as you're human your view is biased. Of course you think everyone's views need to change, they don't match yours.
So who gets to decide who gets to keep their beliefs and who doesn't?
Besides, the truth usually isn't that black and white.
Are you advocating control of beliefs?
Most likely this.
Free will is an abstract. It's not non existent, we just don't know quite what it means.
It's not like you have it. You're controlled by your impulses.
The subconscious processes and gives information to the "main" conscious mind which is technically "you". The you who receives the information is given a select amount of "choices" from the subconscious but the subconscious is what makes the true decision before the main conscious is able to process the data. There really is no choice as all choice is chosen by the subconscious which runs off of past experiences and current stimuli. Thought, consciousness, local awareness, and choice are all illusions generated by a complex problem solver.

The fear of defeat is an imperfection. The need to be dominant is imperfection. All impulses and desires are imperfections.
If God is as you imagine him he is flawed and due to be replaced.

Free will is the process of the logical brain justifying the actions of the reptilian one.

If you want to get technical, the very existence of anything happened through a series of things that should not have happened in a perfectly balanced system. Life is a glitch, an error, a 1 where there should be a 0.
I don't understand your point. Are you advocating control of beliefs? i.e. people shouldn't be allowed to be a Christian? Or am I misunderstanding you?
No. Impossible. Control only creates dissent.
Only important thing is resistance. Equal resistance. Don't control, fight. Disagree. Argue.

That's another old testament one.

I'd like to read some papers on this... do you have any links? I've always been interested in Freudian texts, but I don't know what websites are legitimate.
Also, Mr. Scorpio... Did you happen to have any info on the 'God as a father figure' concept anywhere? I'm afraid my searches aren't returning the desired results.
I think this thread is done and done.
Or at least it's OP.

I believe you should stick a boulder in your mouth and let discussion happen, because it's more interesting than anything else that goes on in this godforsaken forum
Equal resistance.
I too agree that both sides should stop fighting.

One of these days, or even right now just sit back and close your eyes. Think really hard about your day and try to see if you actually made any choices on what to do, or if every action, even the action of thinking, is instantly popping into your head. You will notice very fast that the concept of control and free will is not there, as all our decisions are quickly made, all our actions like walking and interacting with our environment is done by instinct at the subconscious level. You'll realize just how "simple" our minds really are.
Right now I do not have any links as all my information is in text books and document form not on my PC.

It's stayed on the tracks so far, stop shitting up the thread
I'm agnostic, but I always feel uncomfortable thinking about the possibility that God and Heaven are real. If I did believe in God, I wouldn't have to worry about what's going to happen when I die. But I don't. I can't convince myself that there is an afterlife of any kind, or an omnipotent, divine being responsible for the creation of everything we know. I wish I could, I really do, but I'm stuck.
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

This sounds like it talks about Jesus' fulfillments and his crucifiction. Is that him speaking in those verses?
Looked in my bible, yeah it is.

Balance is imperfect. You cannot create a perfect system. Systems are arbitrary.
Imperfections are only in living creatures, as living creatures are the only things with functions. Without function there is no perfection or imperfection.

Free will is more "there" on a level of social interaction. How we walk, how we talk, that sort of thing - that's controlled by our subconscious. But our conscious mind controls how we use the tools the subconscious gives us.

You are unwilling to admit that your very existence is a flaw.
Fucking religion threads.

I have been taught about this in one of my drama classes, if you record yourself 10 times picking up an apple or some sort of object, it will be a different way almost every single time. If you think about it more the action will seem more frequent.

It really depends on if you want to pursue that feeling, and how important it is to you.
Conspiracy theorists everywhere in this thread

God is an alpha figure. That's a self evident fact.
Try searching for papers on the process of empathy.
